There was only breathing in the room. Cathy sat there holding her breath and waited for a few minutes. No one called back.
Finally, she gritted her teeth and turned it off, pulled up the quilt and lay down.
She didn't know if she was frustrated or what. She didn’t feel sleepy now. She has been tossing and turning and could not fall asleep, after the lights were turned off for a long time. She couldn’t understand why her hearing has become sharper. It seemed that even the whistle at the entrance of the community could be heard clearly.
Bastard!
She scolded the man several times in her heart. She embraced Mila in her arms, closed her eyes and forced her to sleep.
...
The next morning when she got up, mother saw her for a few seconds and said, "What's wrong with you? Didn't you sleep well last night? Did Mila wake up in the evening?
Cathy grabbed her hair and shook head. "She didn't wake up. I slept well..."
If it hadn't been the last phone call from that bastard, she would have slept well.
And then he didn't talk for a long time, which made her wake up or sleep at night. His face appeared in her mind all night.
Well, she admitted she cared.
How could she forget a man who has been loved for three years easily?
"Your eyes are swollen because you dreamed of cutting your eyelids?" Mother said coldly.
"..."
Cathy was choked and fled back to her bedroom. "Mila should wake up. I'll dress her."
After breakfast, she used heat on her eyes and put on a light makeup, which made her look better.
Looking at the time, she was about to make a call to Matt, which happened to be calling over there.
"Hello, Matt, have you come yet?"
"Cathy, I'm sorry. I didn't have time to tell you that. I got an urgent matter at five o'clock. Now I left Chicago. I will go back in the afternoon. I have informed my nanny. You can give Mila to her later. "
Cathy was shocked. "nanny? Didn't you invite a nanny?"
She remembered that he had said before that he had invited several nanny but they had been bitten by Mila. He dared not invite them now, so he could only take care of Mila by himself all the time.
"The last one to resign. I asked her to take care of Mila for half a day."
Before Cathy spoke, Cathy’s mother frowned when she heard it. "That's no good. Now that she quit, how can we give Mila to her casually? If you don't have time, I will take care of Mila. I'm still idle at home anyway."
Looking at Mila, Cathy also felt that he was so inappropriate, "If you don’t mind, let my mother take care of her. You come to pick her up in the afternoon and don't bother the nanny. Wouldn't it be more troublesome to bite her?"
After a moment of silence, he hesitated and said, "Would it be very troublesome? Mila can't talk and it's hard to take care of.
Cathy also suddenly remembered that Mila had autism and did not speak. It was difficult for others to understand her meaning. She was afraid that mother could not take care of her alone. She frowned and meditated for a moment and said, "Why not... Let me take her to the company. I have an office over there. She's more clever beside me. She doesn't cry or make noise. You can pick her up directly from my company in the afternoon.
"But you..."
Afraid that he would continue to hesitate, Cathy laughed and said, "Matt, It’s too late. I'll pack up and go to work first. I'll talk to you later."
After that, she hung up the phone, pinched Mila's face and said with a smile, "Can you follow me today?"
Mother looked at her with some worries. "If you take the kid with you, what will the leader say?"
Putting on a coat for the children, Cathy said lightly, "I'll explain it to them later. Otherwise I won't rest assured that you are with her alone at home."
"Then you yourself..." Mother looked at her belly.
It was like she was carrying three children by herself. If Cathy fell, she would be scared to death.
Cathy felt his belly, raised his head and smiled at her with happiness. "It's all right. I'll pay attention to it."
...
In Vanten Technolog Company, colleagues stared at her come in with a delicate child with astonishment.
"Sister, this is your daughter?"
"What a lovely child! Let me hug."
"Manager. Do we need to give her red envelopes?"
"..."
Cathy watched the claws stretching out one by one. She was silent for a few seconds, then held the child in his arms and stared at the crowd. "Don't frighten her. She has autism and is afraid of strangers. Besides, this is my friend's child. He has no time today. I will take care of her for a while."
The people were stunned and soon recovered.
"Oh, Sister, if you don't have time, we can take care of her for you." Somebody laughed with flattery.
"I also have a lot of snacks here. I'll give them to her later."
"Come on, your junk food is harmful for children. Sister, I can accompany her to watch cartoons."
Cathy, "..."
Such irregular subordinates in this department. They did not so flattered usually.
"Okay, I thank you for her, but you still don't get close to her. I'm not responsible if she bites you."
She waved her hands with laughing and then said a few words of command. She took Mila to the office.
