Angelina looked at Blanche with a contemptuous gaze and sneered, "Miss Yarborough, don't blame me for being blunt, but what you did is truly disgraceful."
"It's not at all like you said. Douglas fell off the cliff by accident that year, and it had nothing to do with Sammy."
Blanche retorted sharply.
"If I didn't find you so unworthy, I'd really love to splash this coffee in your face. You have the nerve to say something so shameless."
"Blanche, you're even more selfish and shameless than I thought."
"For all these years, I refuse to believe you didn't know that Douglas's fall was caused by Sammy pushing him. I can guess why you did it even with my eyes closed. If I'm not mistaken, knowing Wellington survived his fall, you discovered he became a cripple and selfishly abandoned him, turning to Sammy instead."
"You two, a pair of despicable beings, took over Wellington's company and live comfortably off his wealth, right?"
Angelina's gaze was piercing, her words sharp as knives, making Blanche's face turn paler with each statement.
Because what Angelina said was almost the truth, although Blanche herself didn't want to admit it.
Angelina looked at her with disdain: "Speaking another word to you makes me sick."
"I'm giving you two choices now. First, sell your 10% shares to me, take the money, and continue your luxurious life. Second, Yarborough Group goes bankrupt, and you beg on the streets."
"Don't think without Yarborough Group you can still rely on Pinnacle Group. I advise you to give up on that hope. Douglas has already made his move, and he will personally take back Pinnacle Group. As for Sammy, his fate will be ten times worse than what Wellington suffered."
"Think it over and call me. I actually hope you'll refuse, so I can rightfully make you and Sammy a pair of miserable lovers."
After saying that, Angelina stood up and left, leaving Blanche alone, pale-faced and in a daze.
...
...
Douglas indeed did not know Angelina would go to see Blanche.
He was watching cartoons with Lynette.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
Without looking, Wellington answered casually.
"Mr. Wellington, it's me, Terry."
Wellington instinctively sat up straight: "Is there any progress?"
"Terry said, "Mr. Wellington, as you predicted, I've found the person you were looking for."
"Where are you? I'll come to you."
"Let me pick you up, Mr. Wellington. It's hard to find this place."
Wellington hummed in response and hung up the phone.
But soon, Wellington started to worry again. If Terry said the place was hard to find, it surely wasn't a good location, not suitable for Lynette to go, but it was still early, and he couldn't leave Lynette at home alone.
After much thought, Wellington couldn't come up with a better solution.
It seemed he had no choice but to take Lynette with him, letting her play in the car for a while.
…
…
About half an hour later, the doorbell rang.
Lynette, thinking it was Angelina, ran to open the door. Upon seeing Terry, she was startled into tears and turned to run back, crying, "Daddy, there's a bad guy, a bad guy..."
The last time Terry had brought a woman who had broken the bunny ears off her toy car, Lynette remembered Terry.
Terry was also startled, his face a mix of embarrassment and indecision, frozen at the door not knowing what to do. He was even slightly terrified, worrying that Douglas might hold him accountable for scaring his daughter.
Douglas quickly came over to pick up Lynette, turning to the stiff Terry at the door and shook his head in resignation.
"Lynette, don't cry. This uncle isn't a bad person. He broke the bunny ears, knows he did wrong, and has come to apologize to us."
Terry hurriedly said, "Yes, yes, yes, Lynette, I came to apologize. It was my fault last time, I'm sorry!"
Lynette, wiping her tears and pouting, glanced at Terry and then quickly turned her head away, still very scared.
Douglas, smiling and comforting her, said, "Lynette, it's good to correct your mistakes. This uncle has apologized, so shall we forgive him?"
"Yes, yes, yes, I know I was wrong. Lynette, would you forgive me?" Terry tried his best to look friendly, his face lit up with a hopeful smile.
"Lynette, shall we forgive uncle?"
Lynette pouted and looked at Terry, "Lynette forgives you."
Her pitiful and vulnerable appearance made Douglas laugh.
Terry was ecstatic, grinning from ear to ear, "Thank you, Lynette, for your forgiveness. Next time I come, I'll bring you some tasty treats and buy you toys."
"Terry? What are you doing here?"
Just as Terry finished speaking, a voice came from behind him. He turned around subconsciously and saw a tall, beautiful woman approaching, feeling somewhat familiar as if he had seen her somewhere.
"Are you Miss Angelina?"
Terry remembered, he had seen Angelina from afar at a cocktail party.
However, they were not in the same league, and he had not dared to approach her then.
Angelina nodded slightly, "Are you here for Douglas?"
Terry nodded.
Angelina walked past Terry and went straight inside.
"Sister."
Lynette's face lit up with a smile and she waved her little hands upon seeing Angelina.
Angelina, noticing the tear stains on Lynette's face, quickly took her from Douglas's arms and wiped away her tears, "Who bullied my Lynette? Tell sister, I'll take care of them for you."
While saying this, Angelina's gaze shifted towards Douglas.
Douglas offered a wry smile, "Don't look at me, she was scared by Terry."
Douglas recounted the incident that had just occurred.
Angelina's gaze turned sternly towards Terry, "I'll let it pass this time, but dare to bully Lynette again, and you won't like my response."
Terry, with a forced smile, nodded repeatedly.
He was internally surprised by how at home Angelina seemed in Douglas's house, and her close relationship with Douglas's daughter suggested their relationship was no simple matter.
"Lynette, don't be afraid, with sister here, no bad person will dare to bully Lynette."
"Okay!"
Lynette nodded her little head and affectionately kissed Angelina's face.
Angelina's eyes curved into crescents as she smiled and returned the kiss on Lynette's face.
"Why did Miss Linola come over?" Douglas asked curiously, noting that Angelina had only left in the afternoon and was back within a few hours.
Angelina looked at him with slight displeasure, "What, am I not welcome? If so, I'll leave."
"No, no, I was just asking," Douglas said with a wry smile.
Angelina said, "I'm going to take Lynette to the amusement park tomorrow, so I'll stay here tonight. It's more convenient than having to come back and forth."
"Right, you had something to take care of, didn't you?"
Douglas nodded.
"Go ahead, Lynette will be with me."
"Thank you!"
Douglas expressed his gratitude. Angelina was truly a big help.
"Lynette, play with sister. Daddy will step out for a bit and will be back soon, okay?"
"Bye-bye, Daddy!" Lynette waved her little hand.
Douglas suddenly felt a pang of jealousy; Lynette seemed to be getting closer to Angelina, making him feel somewhat redundant. This was a discomforting feeling.
