Terry and several strong men felt their scalps tingle and their limbs turn ice-cold.
What exactly was the force Douglas expelled from his fingertips? It could cause such agony in a person, completely beyond their understanding.
Douglas squatted down, looking at Edward, who was like a puddle of mud, and asked indifferently, "Are you Edward?"
"Yes, I am Edward."
"Who made you hit and kill that woman more than two years ago?"
Edward trembled and said, "It was Sammy. He gave me 70 thousand to hit and kill that woman. My mother was sick and needed money. I was forced to do it, please spare me... I beg you to spare me..."
Douglas's eyes were cold as he harshly said, "So, I should commend you for being such a filial son. Your mother was gravely ill, and you needed money, so you thought it was okay to exchange someone else's life for money? What right do you have to take an innocent life?"
Douglas clenched his fists, feeling a surge of fury. He really wanted to strangle the man to death.
"Edward, I'll give you a chance to live. When I need it, you must identify Sammy. Let me tell you, the woman you killed was my wife. If you don't want your wife and children to suffer, you should know what choice to make."
"Please, don't hurt my wife and children. I'm willing to identify Sammy."
Edward didn't hesitate for a moment to betray Sammy.
He had changed his name and got married in his forties, considered late, and had his children late in life. Sammy meant nothing compared to his own wife and children.
Douglas coldly said, "As long as you cooperate, I assure you your wife and children will be safe. But if you try any tricks, I guarantee they will suffer terribly."
"Please, don't harm them. They are innocent. I am the guilty one. Do whatever you want with me."
In a fury, Douglas kicked Edward several meters away with a loud thud.
"Your wife and children are innocent, but what about my wife? Edward, do you know how much I want to kill you right now?"
Douglas roared, fearing he might actually give in to the urge to strangle Edward himself.
"Terry, keep a close eye on him."
Terry bowed respectfully, "Mr. Douglas, rest assured."
Douglas gave Edward a sharp look and turned to walk outside.
"Keep a close eye on him. If anything happens, it's on you."
After giving his instructions, Terry jogged to catch up with Douglas. He glanced at Douglas from time to time, hesitating to speak.
Douglas indifferently said, "If you have something to say, just say it."
"Mr. Douglas, since he has admitted to being the killer of your wife, I think an eye for an eye. We should just deal with Edward directly."
"Not in a hurry, he still has his uses."
Terry nodded, then said, "Mr. Douglas, let me take you back first."
Douglas responded with a faint hum.
On the way back, Douglas received a call from Donald, who had arranged a meeting with Elvis at eight o'clock at the Caesars Hotel.
Donald was indeed efficient in his work.
After hanging up, Douglas looked at Terry, who was driving, and said, "Terry, are you involved in loan sharking?"
Terry's expression stiffened, unsure how to respond.
"What's the matter? As a prince of the underworld, you don't engage in this business?"
Terry chuckled nervously, carefully saying, "Mr. Douglas, that's illegal, I..."
"Don't beat around the bush, be honest."
Terry shuddered and quickly nodded, "I wouldn't dare lie to Mr. Douglas, indeed there is."
"Good, change course to the Caesars Hotel. I have a person for you to meet, with a business proposition."
Terry was puzzled but didn't dare to ask questions as Douglas didn't elaborate. He turned the car towards the Caesars Hotel.
The Caesars Hotel is one of the best hotels in Jadeborough City.
When Douglas and Terry arrived, Donald and Elvis were already there.
To avoid drawing attention, Donald and Elvis were waiting in a private room.
"Miracle Doctor Wellington, you're here."
Seeing Douglas and Terry enter, Donald quickly stood up to greet them.
Elvis was astonished, sizing up Douglas, trying to guess his identity. Douglas's presence commanded such respect from Donald, a top figure in Jadeborough City, indicating Douglas's extraordinary status.
What shocked him even more was that Terry, a prince of the underworld, followed behind this man with utmost respect, not daring to step out of line.
"Miracle Doctor Wellington, let me introduce you, this is Elvis," Donald introduced.
Douglas stepped forward, extending his hand, "Hello, Douglas!"
Elvis, not wanting to show any disrespect, quickly shook hands with Douglas, "Mr. Douglas, hello!"
Douglas turned to Terry, "Elvis, let me introduce you to Terry."
Terry respectfully said, "Mr. Douglas, we know each other."
Elvis also nodded in agreement with a smile.
Douglas was slightly surprised, then smiled, "Since you know each other, I won't bother with introductions. Since we're all acquaintances, let's sit down and talk."
After everyone was seated, Donald attentively poured a cup of tea for Douglas.
This scene made Elvis even more curious about Douglas's identity.
Elvis said, "I wonder what Mr. Douglas has asked Donald to arrange this meeting for?"
Douglas smiled, "Actually, it's simple. I need a favor, to act as a go-between."
"A go-between?" Elvis was a bit confused; a go-between is an intermediary.
Douglas smiled, "Elvis's Howler Group is the biggest partner of the Pinnacle Group, right?"
Elvis glanced at Donald and said with a smile, "Not anymore."
Donald said, "Elvis, there's no need to hide anything in front of Miracle Doctor Wellington. Our request for you to terminate the partnership with Pinnacle Group was actually on behalf of Miracle Doctor Wellington; we were just executing his wishes."
Elvis's mouth fell open in shock. This request had come directly from Peter himself. So, even Peter was working for Douglas? Peter held a significant position in Jadeborough City and dared to act on behalf of Douglas. Who exactly was Douglas?
Douglas looked at Elvis, "I wonder if you'd be willing to help me?"
After a moment of thought, knowing that a giant like the Linola family was working for Douglas, and he was just being asked to act as an intermediary, Elvis quickly said, "Of course, there's no problem. But I'm not sure what you want me to do?"
"It's simple. You go find Sammy and have him borrow money at a high interest rate from Terry."
Elvis's heart skipped a beat. Being a smart man, he quickly understood Douglas's intention. This was a move against Sammy.
However, what he didn't understand was why, with the Linola family's power, they would need to go through such elaborate measures to target Sammy.
Douglas paused, then continued, "You several families have already ended your partnership with Pinnacle Group. Their financial chain has broken, and they're at the end of their rope. Their only lifeline now is the piece of land Sammy bid on this morning."
"If they sell that land cheaply, Pinnacle Group might have a slim chance of survival. But I don't want to give this man any chance to breathe. I want to watch him despair and collapse bit by bit."
"Elvis, also help spread the word that the piece of land in Sammy's hands can't be developed into a residential area due to concerns about the foundation related to surrounding historical buildings. The government won't approve it."
Elvis was stunned. Douglas was determined to push Sammy into an abyss from which he could never recover.
