Canyn felt rather melancholic as he once again prepared breakfast, this time it’s for three people.
Emmiline had Phillisa pick up Canyn. Then, she also prepared the ingredients for Canyn's breakfast.
How could Canyn refuse when he saw the anticipation on the faces of various beautiful women?
However, observing Emmiline's mood, it seemed to be quite good. She looked at Hiroko with a gaze filled with affection. Aside from Hiroko's lukewarm response, the household seemed harmonious.
When Emmiline went to work, she gave Canyn his wages from the previous day, a total of three hundred dollars.
"Emmiline, I only worked half a day yesterday, this is too much," Canyn said, believing in rightfully earning his keep.
"Don't mention the changes you've brought to Hiroko, your breakfast alone is worth this amount. I'm a bit mundane and only know to express my gratitude this way, so please don't refuse," Emmiline insisted with a smile, handing the money to Canyn.
"Emmiline, whoever calls you mundane, I would argue with them," Canyn said earnestly.
Emmiline chuckled and replied, "Alright, I'm off to work. Take care of Hiroko."
"Don't worry, Emmiline," Canyn nodded.
After Emmiline and Phillisa left, Hiroko immediately came out and said, "See, see, she always treats me like a child."
"You are a child," Canyn glanced at Hiroko.
"I'm not talking about my physical age. I want respect and recognition, you know," Hiroko said, looking as if Canyn couldn't understand her.
"Respect and recognition are something that you have to earn for. By the way, did you find any new clues from your conversation last night?" Canyn asked.
"We couldn't even talk on past issues," Hiroko said helplessly. "I feel like she refuses to talk about her past issues, not allowing anyone, especially me, to talk about it."
"Don't rush, let Emmiline gradually notice your changes. I believe even if she can't completely open up to you, she'll at least reveal some information," Canyn optimistically said. "Trying to achieve everything at once is quite difficult."
"Hmm," Hiroko nodded. "But, I've noticed something."
"What is it?" Canyn inquired.
"Her current situation seems quite bad, and her career isn't going well," Hiroko spoke softly.
Canyn was pleased with Hiroko's change, even though she didn't show any overt concern or worry. The fact that she brought up this matter showed that, deep down, Hiroko had started to care about Emmiline without even realizing it.
"Did you find out any specifics?" Canyn asked.
"No, she doesn't want to talk about it," Hiroko frowned. "I always feel she treats me like a child, thinking these are adult matters I shouldn't touch."
"Don't you see this as a form of protection? What you need now isn't to know about the hardships of life but to grow healthily in a good environment," Canyn said seriously. "This is maternal love."
"Alright, alright, no preaching. Let's go look at the photos. I posted them online and let’s see if they're good," Hiroko pulled Canyn upstairs.
In Hiroko's room, they opened the computer, and she eagerly showed him the photos posted online.
On various forums, there were such posts.
Unfortunately, none of these posts were pinned, and some were barely noticed by anyone.
Overall, there were quite a few responses from netizens.
However, looking at each reply, there was no useful information.
"Finding a needle in a haystack," Canyn thought. The internet is a vast ocean, and finding useful information here can sometimes be very simple, yet at other times it can be extremely difficult.
"It's probably because of the short time. The enthusiasm of the netizens is still quite high," Hiroko said.
"I think their enthusiasm is mostly for the photos," Canyn remarked. The two people beside Emmiline, after being digitally aged, resembled her closely. Such beauties were naturally very popular.
"What do we do then?" Hiroko acknowledged the attraction of beauties on the internet.
"Make it more touching, for example, using the title ‘search for relatives’. Look at your current post, it just says ‘searching for people’. Were you moved by what you wrote?" Canyn suggested after some thought.
"Making it more touching is easy," Hiroko's eyes lit up, and she began typing.
Soon, a new article was prepared.
Canyn looked around and indeed felt very touched.
"Nice writing skills," Canyn complimented.
"Of course," Hiroko said with a proud look.
"Next, we should focus on forums. Try to find those that are a bit older and suitable for active users in their thirties. Like the gaming forums you're choosing now, what's the use of posting this article there?" Canyn gave his advice.
Together, they discussed and revised continuously, posting repeatedly.
In the blink of an eye, the morning passed.
At noon, Canyn cooked something quickly, and they continued in the afternoon.
There were too many forums online, both big and small. Eventually, Canyn kept searching and posting on various forums, while Hiroko checked the emerging responses.
Before they knew it, the afternoon had also passed.
"I'm exhausted," Hiroko stretched and said helplessly, "There aren't any valuable clues."
"Don't worry, take it slow. The feedback we have now is much better than before. It's only the first day, there's still a high chance of finding something valuable over time," Canyn didn't expect major findings on the first day.
"By the way, I might not come tomorrow. I need to go out," Canyn remembered his arrangement with Leaya and had to ask for leave.
"Where are you going?" Hiroko asked.
"I'm going to see Corda. Corda's mother has cancer, and she's in a bad mood now, feeling lonely. Leaya is worried about her. And since Corda has helped me so much, I can't just stand by," Canyn could understand the pain of losing a loved one.
Because Canyn had experienced such feelings.
His master retired to the Immortal Doctors sect's tomb. Although he still had a hundred years of life, it was just a hundred years without death. After a century, wouldn't he sleep forever in the sect's tomb like all the past masters of the Immortal Doctors sect?
This was almost no different from eternal separation since Canyn wasn't sure he could complete the task that twenty-four generations of the Immortal Doctors sect failed to accomplish.
Therefore, he genuinely understood Corda's current mood.
And Canyn had the ability to change all this. Under such circumstances, from any perspective, it was inappropriate for Canyn to continue being a bystander.
"I'll go too. Corda has been accompanying me for a long time, and it's only right for me to visit her, especially at this time," Hiroko said earnestly.
"You're going too?" Canyn widened his eyes in surprise.
"Why can't I go?" Hiroko countered.
"It's not that. I'm just worried whether Emmiline will let you leave, especially since following me away from Tokai City is not an easy decision," Canyn said, spreading his hands.
After all, Canyn and Emmiline hadn't known each other for very long. Accompanying Hiroko in Tokai City might be fine, but going out of town might cause some concern.
"No problem," Hiroko smiled, "Don't you see she trusts you very much? And I've changed a lot. Now, she wishes I could spend more time with you, to change even more. Besides, Corda has a pretty good relationship with her. If she knows about Corda's mother's condition, she definitely won't be indifferent."
"Actually, you seem to understand Emmiline quite well. I hope your change isn't just to keep your promise with me," Canyn said seriously.
"You’re annoying," Hiroko waved her hand dismissively.
Emmiline came back on time in the evening.
Canyn immediately mentioned this matter to her.
"It's that serious?" Emmiline was surprised.
"Yes, I'm afraid there's not much time left," Canyn nodded, "I want to go and see her, and I'll be with Leaya. But Hiroko also wants to come. Emmiline, what do you think?"
"Let Hiroko follow you. I'm relieved," Emmiline stated decisively.
Hiroko winked at Canyn from the side, as if to say, "See, I was right, she trusts you very much."
"Also, take this card with you. It has fourteen thousand dollars. Give it to Corda, as my contribution. I can't leave right now, otherwise, I would have gone with you to see Corda," Emmiline handed Canyn a card.
"Emmiline, as I said before, whoever dares to call you mundane, I'll be the first to disagree," Canyn said earnestly.
Money might be considered mundane, but it depends on how it's used.
"Ah, I hope Corda won't be too affected. What I admire most is Corda's optimistic attitude. Seeing her smile, you'd know that there's no hurdle in the world that can't be overcome. It's a kind of inspirational spiritual power," Emmiline murmured.
She was also encouraging herself.
The current situation had Emmiline worried.
Within just one day, there had been significant changes in the club. Several senior beauticians had submitted their resignation, and some of the staff also thought about leaving. Urith's tactics were striking like a violent storm.
Additionally, with the club's product issues, many clients had already been taken away.
Under these circumstances, Corda's smile really did give Emmiline a lot of encouragement, supporting her to keep going, to persist until Urith sees that even if he goes to the extreme, he still can't achieve his goal.
"Emmiline, Hiroko said you're having a tough time in your career," Canyn looked at Hiroko and said softly. Canyn felt that Emmiline needed more encouragement, and Hiroko's concern and attention were undoubtedly the best support for her.
