I gave her a slight nod and walked on. But she followed. "Are you dining here? Thank you for the phone you introduced to me. It works very well."
I nodded again. "Sorry, I have to go to work.”
"Well, see you ." She smiled and waved hand at me.
I walked out of the restaurant and turned around to see Jacky Hua coming down from the upstairs. He was talking to the girl. What were they talking about? I didn't know.
Xuanlong, who had been waiting outside, walked towards me, "The car is over there."
I knew it was arranged by Jacky Hua. I was now in a state of being watched, and Jacky Hua would never allow me, who was carrying his child, to escape his grip.
I got into Xuanlong Jiang 's car and was silent all the way again. I thought that he encounter with Nan Lin at the restaurant was not a coincidence, but it also didn't like a date Jacky Hua had deliberately made. If he did ask Nan Lin out, he didn't have to ask me to come here to influence their date as well, because I wasn't important to him anyway. If I didn't have children, I would be nothing.
If it wasn't Jacky Hua’s intention, then it was a coincidence? But how could it be so coincidental?
Where did this Nan Lin come from? What was she doing here? She was the person that Jacky Hua cared so much and kept looking for a long time, so why did she just show up?
The more I thought about it, the more complicated I felt, yet I still couldn't figure it out.
When my mind was pulled back ,we were at Maple Villa.
After I went inside, Xuanlong warned me , "Fourth Brother let me tell you not to go out and take a good rest at home."
Then he emphasized , "You'd better do what Fourth Brother ask; he has a bad temper."
I went to bed after a shower and woke up at dusk. I didn't know if it was the pregnancy that made me get a little sleepy.
It was way past school time and I was a little worried that Lucas hadn't returned.
I called Xuanlong and he told me that Jacky Hua was with Lucas and they were shopping at the mall.
I didn't expect that he would take the kids to go shopping.
I walked out towards the balcony. Jacky Hua got off the car and then carried Lucas off the car.
A few paces from the parking lot to the door, to my surprise, he let Lucas ride on his neck.
The two men talked and laughed all the way, having a good time.
"Mom." Lucas cheered his way up the stairs.
“ What did you buy?" I asked with a smile.
"Lots of clothes and toys." Lucas said triumphantly.
I felt that Jacky had overindulged Lucas, but I couldn't persuade him not to do so.
"Mom, I have a present for you." Lucas said secretly.
"A present?" I watched him with interest.
He held out the hand that was behind his back. Spread out his tiny palm and inside was a ring.
It's so big that the child's tiny hand can barely hold it.
I took it gently, still a little excited. This was the most expensive jewelry I had ever seen.
"This is a present for your wedding." Lucas said excitedly.
Such words was not something that a three-year-old could think of, it must have been taught to him by Jacky Hua.
So was this an attempt to bribe me to be a tool for childbirth?
"Mom don't need this. Give it back to Uncle Hua." I handed the ring back to Lucas.
Lucas was a little disappointed, "Mom you just take it. It's not from Uncle Hua, it's from me."
"Be a good boy, Mom really doesn't need it."said I.
If you don't take the child's gift, the child will be very sad."Jacky Hua didn't know when he had walked up the stairs; he stood there and said coldly.
"Mommy just take it, please." Lucas still shoved the ring into my hand. He wanted to surprise me with joy, so he would indeed be disappointed when I refused.
Finally, I had to take it, and Lucas gave me a big smile. Then he was trying to put it on me, but he hands was so small that couldn't get it on me after a long time.
Jacky crouched down besides me and took the ring in his hand, then pulled it over my hand and slowly put it on me.
He and I, also small peak three heads together, fiddling with the ring.
The smell of cologne on his body stirred me slightly.
"Lucas, can you go see if dinner is ready." Jacky Hua said.
Lucas looked at me, and then at Jacky Hua, and ran away knowingly.
I was going to take the ring off, "Thank you for giving me present. but such an expensive ring isn't for me.”
Jacky Hua's voice was cold, "Don't give it back to me, if you really don't want it, just throw it away!"
He finished and stood up, turning to go upstairs.
After a few steps, he turned back, ''Don't go to harass Nan Lin. She doesn't remember anything now, don't hurt her."
I thought his words were strange. I did meet the girl named Nan Lin twice, but we both met by chance, so why was I harassing her?
What did it mean that she didn't remember anything?
Did it mean that Lin Nan couldn't remember Jacky Hua now? What's more, she even didn’t know that Jacky Hua was holding all the memories about her like a treasure?
Jacky Hua didn't give me a chance to explain, nor did he explain what he said to me.
And by his nature, he would not listen to my explanations, and he never bothered to explain anything he said or did himself.
I was lying in bed that night, looking at the ring repeatedly in the light, with extremely mixed emotions.
It was the most expensive gift I've ever received, and by definition I should be thrilled. But the sparkling diamond couldn't cheer me up, because I knew it was just a handout, not affection.
But in my understanding, the diamond ring is supposed to represent eternity and must be associated with emotion in order to make sense.
Actually, people are unhappy because of wanting too much.
For the next few days, I really didn't go out again. The maid wouldn't let me go out, and I didn't want to go out myself. Since I don't even work anymore, I have nowhere to go.
That afternoon, the air was sweltering. I took a nap but was suddenly woken by a phone.
It's a strange number.
I picked up the phone and heard a male voice: "I have your son, come to the cemetery, or I will kill him. ”He then hung up the phone.
I was very anxious. My first thought was to call Jacky Hua , but his phone was not working. I called Xuanlong's phone again, but surprisingly, I was unable to get through.
At this time, my phone rang again, receiving a picture of Lucas.
Then came a message: if you dare to call the police, chop off his one hand first.
I panicked. I called that number and the man wouldn't answer. When I hung up the phone, he sent another message saying he would only give me half an hour to come that place, or he would hurt my child.
Half an hour wasn't enough for me to think about what to do next. To me, Lucas was more important than my life, and I must not let him hurt my child.
If I go out from the front door, the maid would stop me. I couldn't explain it clearly to them, and didn't have time to do so.
To get out, I had no choice but to slowly climb to the drain pipe next to the fence from the foot of the balcony behind the second floor and climb down the drain pipe.
