The car was locked after I was thrown into it forcefully. I was then taken away to the Maple Villa.
Reaching the second floor, I heard Jacky ordering the servant to brewing medicines, "First, boil the medicine lotion with intense fire, and then simmer it with medium-high fire. Remember to cover the pot with lid; otherwise it will affect the efficacy of the medicine. When it’s done, take it to the second floor. Don't be too hot or too cold."
“Yes, Sir.” answered the servant.
I was moved by his consideration.
Jacky answered a phone call, saying, “Don’t rush me. I'll be right there.”
Busy though he was, he was still waiting for me while I was seeing a doctor in the TCM center (Traditional Chinese Medicine), and sent me back after that. He was really good to me sometimes, but when he got ruthless, it seemed as if we had been enemy to each other.
“Kiki, you couldn’t be affected that easily. Be strong!” I kept warning myself.
After taking the medicine, I slept, because I do feel a little bit feeble these days.
I fell deep sleep, and when awake, I suddenly realized that I had to pick up Lucas after school. So I hastened to get up.
After washing my face, I went downstairs while Sister Jane was walking toward me, with the information that Jacky had called back to ordered me to have a good rest, and that he would pick up Lucas.
He hadn't told the kid at all that I was going to pick him up. He just tricked me back. He knew and got me right that I didn't want to let the kid down.
Lying on the lounge chair by the pool, I stared at the blue sky in a daze.
The weather was awesome, and the sunset was beautiful. All of a sudden, I felt relaxed a lot after being suppressed for a few days.
The sound of a car came from outside the door as Jacky got home.
Lucas rushed over to me, “Mom, I miss you.” said Lucas.
It was only two days apart, but I felt like I had been separated from him for a long, long time. I hugged him tightly with tears falling down again.
“Mom, please don’t go; I will behave well, I promise.” said Lucas.
A sense of bitterness overwhelmed me even more, cause’ whether to stay or not was never decided by me. So what could I do if he was in bad mood and wanted to chase me out?
“Ok. Mom won’t leave you alone. If I have to leave one day, I will take you with me. I promise.” I said to him tenderly.
When I looked up, I saw Jacky’s cold face. No doubt, he was very dissatisfied with what I’d just said.
“Lucas, this is your home. Don't go anywhere else. "He promptly corrected my claim to take Lucas away.
In front of Lucas, I didn’t contradict him. The reason why he said so was because he loved Lucas.
Kids are always smart. Lucas knew I was in disagreement with Jacky, but he just looked at me and Jacky, saying nothing.
After dinner, I took a walk in the small garden of the villa. As things that happened recently emerged into my mind, Lucas ran over to me. He told me that he had something to tell me.
I squatted down and touched his white, tender face, saying, "Ok, mom’s listening."
“Uncle Hua said he misunderstood you, and felt sorry for making you unhappy.” said Lucas.
All of a sudden, I was stunned. What did this mean? Apologize? Why didn’t he say it himself instead letting a child do it?
Looking around, I saw Jacky standing by the swimming pool in swimming trunks. Noticing I was looking at him, he jumped into the water, with his whole body diving into the water.
So he thought he could keep his face by keeping himself in the water? I lost my child that day and was too desperate to live on, but without any comfort, he slapped me in the face and tried to drive me away. He behaved ruthlessly, unlike a human.
Now that he knew he was wrong, why didn’t he apologize in front of me? Did he cherish his face too much, or was he shameless?
I picked up Lucas, walking to the pool.
“Aren’t you diving in the water? You do have guts! I bet you never to come up to gasp!”I said to myself.
He could surely dive for a long time without coming up to gasp. But finally he couldn’t hold his breath and came up to the water surface to grasp for breath.
“Uncle Hua, you are so awesome.” said Lucas, cheering.
“Lucas, what did you tell me just now?” shouted I.
“What?” said Lucas, in puzzled.
“What did you say to me in the garden just now?” shouted I, again.
With his black diamond-like eyes turning round, he finally came to his memory and said, “It is Uncle Hua who wants to talk to you.”
“What did he said?”shouted I, with voice raising a few degrees higher.
“He said…”
Jacky dived into the bottom of the pool again before Lucas could finish his words.
I couldn’t help sneering. What a shameless man. I’ll wait and see how long you can dive for!
Embracing Lucas, I stood by the swimming pool to wait for him out. As soon as he got out of the water, I would speak loudly to Lucas, "Honey, what did Uncle Hua say?"
Lucas was so embarrassed, saying, “Mom, I told you twice. But why can’t you remember?
“Mom’s afraid of you remembering wrong, so I want to make sure. Could you speak it again, honey? You must speak it faster and louder lest someone would dive into the water being a puss-head (a coward person).” shouted I, loudly.
“Uncle Hua said he misunderstood you, and felt sorry for making you unhappy…” said Lucas.
“You must have gotten him wrong.” said I.
Lucas felt depressed and looked up to Jacky, saying, “Uncle Hua, it is what you said but mom didn’t believe that.”
Jacky didn’t dive into water this time. He looked at me coldly and said, “Is it fun to mess around with a kid?”
“Oh, Mr. Hua, you heard that? I have supposed you to dive into water again. Is there a tortoise deep in the water? Cause’ only this kind of creature loves to hide underwater.
Hearing “tortoise”, Lucas burst into giggles.
Jacky snorted coldly as he reached out his hand to wipe a handful of water on his face.
“Lucas, stop laughing. Go and ask Aunt Jane for a shower.” said Jacky.
“Nope. I feel like playing around for a while.” said Lucas reluctantly.
“Go and get a shower first. Then mom will play with you for a while.” said I, tenderly.
On hearing this, Lucas went for a shower.
“That thing was my entire fault and I shouldn’t have blamed you without finding the truth. I shouldn’t have made suffered so many sorrows. But I beg you trust me that I will never let go that bastard.”
He finally admitted his fault and apologized to me. How precious! I felt like the sun had been rising in the west. But for I forced him so tightly, I’m afraid he wouldn’t admit his fault.
Seeing I was silent, he swam to me and stood by the pool with hands holding me, saying, “Now that we get married, I have the right to protect you. But it’s my failure that I haven’t done well.”
He admitted it was his failure but not his fault.
“I don’t think it was done by Mu Chen.” This is what I’ve been thinking of.
“You are really blinded by lard and still trust him?” said Jacky in a much colder voice.
“I don’t trust him. I just don't think it would have been necessary for Chen to be there if he had done it, not to mention he would have sent me to the hospital and exposed himself to me. Besides, the only man the perpetrator mentioned, without any hesitation, was Chen, which was quiet strange. In fact, they ran away quickly as soon as they saw Chen. If Chen wanted them to cooperate in acting, then they would at least pretend to fight with each other, but apparently, they were afraid of Chen. They knew that you are disharmonious with Chen, so they put the blame on him. It seems reasonable on surface but unreasonable indeed.”
His eyes were turning even colder under the light, and the words he said then really surprised me, “You are smarter than I thought.” he said.
