Chapter 33 An uneasy feeling

Jacky called me. I nervously picked up the phone and he asked me on the phone if I had remembered to drink my medicine. I told him I'd had my medicine, and he said he'd let the chauffeur drive me to school and then picked up Lucas from school. I hung up the phone and my heart kept pounding. I couldn't stay on the third floor anymore, and if he knew I was here, then I was done. I locked the door on the third floor and went downstairs, looking up to see the maid Zhen with a frightened face, "Ma'am, why did you……" "A kite flew up to the third floor and I went to look for it, but couldn't find it." I made up a reason. "Sir don’t allow anyone go to the third floor. Please don’t go to the third floor anymore otherwise……" Zhen said beggarly. "I know, I won't go up there. please don't tell Jack, will you?" I said. Zhen nodded, "I know. I as a servant only want our master to live a happy life." "Thank you." I said to Zhen. Then she went downstairs. I changed into my clothes, and that's when the driver came over. I got in the car and headed for kindergarten. I got to kindergarten half an hour late because of the traffic jam on the road. Most of the children had been picked up. Only Lucas was standing there waiting for me at the gate of kindergarten . A slim woman was talking to him. The woman had her back to the direction we had parked, so I couldn't see her face. From her outfit, I thought she was a kindergarten teacher. I got out of the car and called Lucas' s name. He ran towards me happily. The woman turned around as well, and I was instantly stunned to see that delicate and beautiful face. She was Nan Lin , the girl that Jacky had kept in his heart. Why was she here? She smiled and nodded at me. I saw the ID card on her clothes, and she was really a teacher here. "Mom, this is Miss Lin." Lucas was very sweet. He introduced his teacher to me when she saw that I had been staring at Nan Lin . "Hello, Mrs. Yao." Nan Lin nodded politely to me and smiled. "It turns out that you are the parent of Lucas. What a coincidence." I didn't even know when Jacky had changed Lucas' s name from Lucas Wu to Lucas Hua . "Hello, you're a teacher here, nice to meet you." I nodded and smiled too. Though I was smiling, I felt a surge of uneasiness in my heart. "Lucas is very well-behaved and smart. He is cleverer than other children." Nan Lin said with a mild smile. She had a delicate face, beautiful eyes, and elegant manners. She was so beautiful. I told myself that it was just a coincidence when I met her here. "See you ." I said to Nan Lin. "Bye teacher." Lucas waved his hand to his teacher. "Bye." Lin Nan waved his hand lightly. I put Lucas on the child seat and put on his seat belt. Then I took my own seat, rolled down the car windows and waved to Nan Lin again. She still stood there with a smile on her face. But for a moment, I felt something strange in her smile. It made my heart thump suddenly. The car pulled away, and she stood there still without moving. The unease in my heart grew even stronger. "Lucas, how is Ms. Lin treating you?" I asked Lucas. "She's been so good to me. Mom, why are you asking me that?" Lucas asked. "Nothing, so did you get naughty at school?" "No, I'm a good boy. Will Uncle Hua come home for dinner today? Why didn't he come to pick me up?" Lucas asked. "He's got work to do. He can’t come and get you every day." I said. Afterwards, Lucas told me something interesting about the school, but I couldn't remember what he said. I kept thinking about Nan Lin in my mind. Was it really just a coincidence that she showed up at the kindergarten? Back to the Maple Villa, the servants gave Lucas a bath and changed his clothes. I went to the kitchen to prepare dinner. However, Jacky did not return all night. At noon the next day, Jacky came back. He was in a hurry. He seemed to have taken something from his study and was about to leave again. I stopped him at the stairs, wanting to talk about Lin Nan, but not knowing how to speak. "What are you going to say? I have to go right now." Jacky asked. "I picked up Lucas from school yesterday." I said hesitantly. "You pick him up again today. If you're tired, let the driver pick him up. If a parent personally picks up their child from school, the teacher will think that the parent values the child's education." Jacky said. "That..." I hesitated whether to say it or not. what should I say? "What? I'm leaving if you don't tell me." Jacky was a little impatient. "I find that Lucas 's teacher is Miss Lin." I said as I looked at Jacky. His expression didn't change much, just whispered, "Is there a problem?" That meant he had knew the thing but only I just knew it yesterday. "She went to buy the phone at the counter where I worked. I met her at the restaurant and she asked for my number. I don't think it's a coincidence." I said. "What exactly are you trying to say?"Jacky said in a cold tone, What the hell was I trying to say? What was I entitled to ask of him? "You let Lucas study here because she is in that kindergarten, so it is convenient for you to meet her, right?" I said faintly. Jacky took two steps and approached me, ''Kiki Yao , are you jealous? Do you think you have the right to be jealous of others? Just because you are my wife in law? " "I didn't." I responded calmly, "I don't care." Jacky froze for a moment, “Really? So what are you talking about?" I choked for a moment, "She makes me uneasy. I don't want her approach my children. I don't care what happen between you and she ,but I want her stay away from my child." "Why?" Jacky's voice became even colder, ''You think she would harm Lucas? Why are you so dark inside?" "Anyway, I just don't want her approach Lucas." I said firmly, "I'm not letting my kid study there.” The contempt appeared on Jacky's face, ''Now Lucas is also my child, not only yours. Only I can give him happiness. Don't ask for trouble and enjoy life as it is.” Then he turned around and left. He never looked back at me again. I felt sad and yet there was nothing I could do about him. After a series of meticulous arrangements, I felt like I was caught in a trap arranged by Jacky Hua. He made my life become easy, but I had to do everything he asked me to do. He could do whatever he wanted, regardless of my feelings. I could only accept what he gave me, This was not the life I want. I had to change that. I heard the phone ringing on the desk. I picked up the phone, and it was from the kindergarten, and a man asked if I was Lucas 's parent. I became nervous at once, worried that something had happened to Lucas. He told me that Lucas was fine, just to inform me that teachers would make a home visit tomorrow and asked me to prepare it ahead of time. Home visit? That meant Lin Nan would come to my home?
