Chapter 35 Being framed

　　“Let go of me, Jacky Hua! Bullying women is all you can do, and you are not ashamed of it!” 　　My words about him bullying women hurt his pride, which made me surprised that he really let go of me. 　　“I told you to stay away from her, why did you still hurt her? What on earth did you do to her?” Jacky said. 　　“I didn’t do anything! I didn’t approach her on purpose, she was the one who approached me!” 　　“Then let me ask you, you gave her a box of chocolate, didn’t you?” 　　“Yes I did. Is there a problem? She came to visit me in the name of Lucas’ teacher, so I just gave her a small gift out of respect, anything wrong about that?” 　　“It was your chocolate that caused the food poisoning and she’s in hospital right now! Kiki Yao, I warned you to stay away from her as she can remember nothing now, why did you still do that?” Jacky shouted at me. 　　No wonder Jacky was so furious, because Nan Lin was in hospital and he blamed it all on me. But I was only being kind when I gave her the box of chocolate! 　　Besides, I didn’t buy the chocolate. It had been there for before I moved in. In no way would I take the responsibility for Nan Lin’s being in hospital! 　　I saw the anger in Jacky’s eyes and it reminded me of the deep love he had for Nan Lin. I realized the more I tried to explain, the worse he would think of me, as he would only think I was trying to defend myself, which would make him hate me more. 　　In this case, I decided not to explain any more. 　　“I did give her the chocolate, but I didn’t do anything to it, believe it or not. She doesn’t owe me anything so I don’t have the motive to hurt her, nor have I ever thought of getting close to her. I know you are tired of me. Don’t bother. I shall leave by myself.” 　　I turned around and was about to leave when Jacky grabbed me suddenly and raised his hand. 　　I stared at him with no emotion on my face, “Jacky Hua, I have never thought of getting close to you either, not to mention Nan Lin. The reason why I am here today is that you framed me. Now I am asking you to stop bullying me and let me go. You are Forth Brother who is capable of everything. Do you think it would give you any credit if people knew you are bullying and torturing a weak woman?” 　　The hand put down slowly and the eyes getting colder, the most familiar words came out of his mouth, “ Get out of here!” 　　I didn’t say anything but turned around and left. 　　I got back to my original apartment after I left the Maple Garden Villa. 　　I considered myself to be very humble and tried hard to blend in Jacky’s life, but in vain. In his eyes, Nan Lin was the pure and noble one while I was cheap and dirty as dust. He would show me kindness whenever he was happy but would tell me to go away whenever he wasn’t. 　　I felt so tired emotionally and I couldn’t take it any more. I wanted to take Lucas back and bring him up all by myself, which I think in no way Jacky would agree. Besides, there’s little chance for me to get Lucas back because of Jacky’s influence and power. 　　Apart from all that, in terms of the environment that was need for Lucas to grow up in, the Hua Family was way much better than mine. I surely hoped to have Lucas by my side and watch him grow up, but as a mother, I shouldn’t be too selfish to ignore the chance of having a good future for my son. 　　I took out my phone and called principal Liu who had come together with Nan and I was told that Nan was indeed in hospital, then I got the name of the hospital and the room number. 　　The next morning, I bought a bunch of flowers and came to the hospital which Nan was in. 　　A surprised look appeared on Nan’s face and soon faded away. Nan said calmly, “ How do you do, Miss Yao?” 　　I had corrected her before that I should be addressed as Mrs Hua. However, when we met again, she’s still calling me Miss Yao, which meant she didn’t want to accepted the fact that I was Jacky’s wife. 　　“ Teacher Lin, are you feeling better?” I asked her calmly. 　　“Oh it’s nothing big deal but food poisoning. Thanks for your concern, Miss Yao.” 　　“Teacher Lin, was it because you ate the chocolate from me that you got the food poisoning? But how come Principal Liu is fine since she got the same chocolate?” I asked as I put the flowers on the table next to the bed. 　　I stared at her and noticed that her eyes flashed. 　　“I didn’t say that. All conclusions were drawn from the doctor. It was so kind of you to give me the chocolate. I should be grateful.” Nan said with an innocent voice, 　　“ I am not expecting you to be grateful. I was only giving you the chocolate out of respect, but I didn’t expect the chocolate would cause such trouble. If my chocolate caused the food poisoning, my apologies.” 　　I bent forward and bowed, trying to show my deep sincerity. 　　Of course I didn’t want to apologize, nor was I sincere. But Nan is Lucas’s teacher, which meant she could have every chance to get close to Lucas, which caused my deep concern that she might do something bad to Lucas because of me. 　　“There’s no need to apologize, Miss Yao. It could be something else I ate and the doctor could be wrong.” Nan smiled. 　　Nan’s phone rang. She answered the phone and a vicious smile flashed on her face, which made me so anxious. 　　“Have a good rest, Teacher Lin, I shall leave you alone now.” I was ready to leave. 　　“Did Jacky tell you that I was here in this hospital?” Nan suddenly changed the topic to Jacky. 　　I tried to understand the meaning behind her words. Was it Jacky’s attitude that she wanted to know or something else? 　　“No, I heard it from Principal Liu. Jacky has been busy these days and we had no chance to talk about it.” I said. 　　Would she be happy if she knew that Jacky had thrown me out of the villa just because of her? Was it why she tested me? 　　She smiled lightly. 　　Just at that moment, a knock of the door came. She looked at her hand which was being injected and then looked at me, hinting me to open the door. 　　The door was not locked, which meant she only needed to say “Come in, please” and the person could get in. 　　I didn’t think much when she told me to open the door. It was Jacky Hua with flowers in one hand and food in the other, standing in front of me. 　　He was obviously shocked on seeing me but soon became alerted. 　　“I am here to see Teacher Liu...” 　　As I was explaining, a sound of moaning came to my ears from my back. I turned around only to find Nan Lin, who was lying in bed a second ago, at the moment on the floor, with needle falling from her hand and hair spreading, crawling on the floor and moaning. 　　A fast move that was! It must have been when I got up to open the door that she quickly fell on the floor. 　　But how come she suddenly fell on the floor looking so miserable? 　　There was only one explanation---she fell on purpose. 　　I suddenly recalled the vicious smile appeared on her face while she was answering the phone. 　　Jacky suddenly pushed me aside and rushed to her, “ Nan, are you OK? What has she done to you?” 　　My heart, once again, sank into the deep sea.
