Fortunately, firefighters arrived quickly and extinguished the fire completely before it could spread.
However, Jacky’s collections that carried his memories were burned beyond recognition even if they weren't completely burnt out.
Jacky was out of town for a meeting and came back late.
His face was gloomy and terrible. He spent a long time alone on the third floor in a mess before coming down.
He then instructed the driver to send Lucas to his parents’ house for a temporary stay of two days.
I didn't want Lucas to go to his parents’ villa, because I knew that Lucas didn't like Xiang Feng. But the situation was unclear now, and there was indeed a potential danger for Lucas to live here, so I didn't stop it.
Jacky grimaced and asked the three servants, "What's going on?"
"Sir, we don't know what's going on either. I was in the kitchen preparing dinner when all of a sudden I heard someone talking about a fire." Zhen said.
"What about you guys?" Jacky looked at the other two servants.
"I was cleaning the pool. Suddenly I saw smoke coming from the third floor." Duo, the youngest maid said.
"I was cleaning up room and I didn't know what happened." Mei, another maid, said.
Jacky's face looked even worse, ''So what you guys means that none of you know how this fire started? But you were all at home all the time, weren't you?"
The three maids were silent, all together.
"What about you?" Jacky's gaze suddenly glanced over to me.
So was he doubting me? He was going to suspect me too? Or did he suspect me the most?
"I was a little sleepy and taking a nap. You can ask Zhen if you don't believe me." I said.
"When I went upstairs, I did see Mrs. Yao sleeping." Zhen responded.
"I went to the fire department before I went home and they told me that this fire was set. And upstairs, a small amount of gasoline had been thrown over it, which explains why those things lit up so quickly. In my house, there's actually been arson, and who can tell me what's going on?"
My heart was pounding. Did someone set the fire? Was someone going to burn down Jacky's house?
"Whoever did it, just admit it." Jacky looked around at everyone with hatred. In the end, he stared at me.
I couldn’t accept his look. Does that mean I was the one who deserved the most suspicion and I set the fire?
"Why are you staring at me? I didn’t set the fire." I was a little angry.
"Surveillance at the door shows that no one has been in or out today. The man who set the fire is right here." Jacky said coldly.
"That doesn't mean I set the fire. Why would I set your house on fire?" I raised my voice.
"Did I say it was you?" Jacky said as he stared at me.
"You didn't say, but you kept staring at me."
At this time, someone came in. He was Xuanlong’s henchman, holding a plastic bottle, ''Fourth Brother, it was found under the bed in the second room on the second floor. It's the bottle with the gasoline in it."
I couldn’t believe it. The second room on the second floor was exactly my bedroom. That meant a bottle with gasoline in it was found under my bed.
Suddenly, I realized that this incident was targeted at me. Someone was going to set me up.
Jacky stared at me, his voice was even colder, "The other people go out."
Then everyone left the room one by one, leaving only him and me in the room.
"Not me...."
Before my words could finish, he interrupted, “I'm ready to move out those things, Why don't you just let it go, you can do anything bad out of jealousy?"
"It's really not me. I didn't have to do that. And I wouldn't be stupid enough to do something bad and left evidence under the bed I was sleeping in."
"Because you were too late to clean up and my men found it.” Jacky said coldly.
I laughed, "Then why don't I just throw it to the fire to avoid leaving evidence for you to suspect me? You are so smart, why you can't figure that out?"
"You're the one who deliberately left this evidence to make me think you were set up. You made up these excuses in advance, didn't you?" Jacky said.
"Since you think so, then I have nothing to say." I said sadly.
I did have nothing to say, which was not the result of some momentary pique. In Jacky's opinion, I had enough motive to destroy those items about Nan Lin out of my jealousy. And in fact, it also seemed like I was the only one with that motive. The servants all worked here for him for a long time. If they were going to set the fire, they didn't have to wait until now to do so. The main thing was that they didn’t have a motive for doing that too, and only I had.
So the bottle that was targeting me. In Jacky's opinion, I left it deliberately so that I could defend myself. No matter how I explained it, he thought I did this.
When you subjectively think a person is bad, even if it's his normal behavior, you feel it suspicious. Then the more you think about it, the more you think he's a bad guy.
I was now the villain in the eyes of Jacky. I was jealous, I was narrow-minded, so I did that.
This time I got out of here before Jacky told me to do that. I was such a pathetic person. Every time I came back and end up leaving in disarray. And I still wanted to come back to this place. All these miseries was I asked for.
When I got back to my place, I thought about it, thinking that the person who had framed me was one of those three servants. She set the fire while I was asleep and put the plastic bottle under my bed. This tactic was actually very low but it worked a lot because Jacky thought I had a motive for this.
The three servants and I all got along well and there was no animosity between us. So they must have been instructed to set me up. Either they were forced to do it, or they were lured by interests to take the dictates of others and risked so much to do it.
I must find the person. On the one hand I didn't want to be misunderstood, and the other was because Lucas still had to live there in the future. If this person has malice towards me, then he might do something bad to Lucas too.
The next day I did nothing, guarding the door of Maple Villa. By the time it was noon, I saw the youngest of the servants, Duo, coming out of the villa on a battery car.
I stopped a taxi and got into it, letting the driver follow her.
The battery car naturally did not run as fast as the taxi, and the taxi driver was a little impatient to follow. We followed it for about half an hour to a vegetable market. Duo parked the electric car in the parking area and walked into the vegetable market, and I hurried to follow her.
Instead of buying groceries, Duo walked through the vegetable market and came across the road. Then I saw her get into a red car.
I had seen this car before. It was Nan Lin 's car.
