Upon returning to the Desvail Mountain villa, Clarence immediately noticed a stranger on the sofa beside Rachel's parents.
She was around forty years old, with long red wavy hair and dressed in a black slit dress, heavily made up.
Meanwhile, Rachel was bustling around, serving tea and water with great enthusiasm.
"At this time, shouldn't you be handling the Queenbay Real Estate matters in the Gorchud District?"
Clarence asked, looking puzzled.
Rachel wore a wry smile.
"Clarence, my parents insisted I come home since we have guests."
Camille, upon hearing this, was displeased.
"Clarence, that's not fair. My daughter is now the CEO of Nyse Group. Trivial matters like that should be delegated to subordinates. Look at the big boss always stuck in the office."
"So, you're Clarence, the adopted son of the Van Family. Hmm, you're quite handsome, but it's a shame your luck is terrible. Your whole family died," remarked the woman in the dress, furrowing Clarence's brow as he turned to her.
"And who might you be?"
He inquired, clearly annoyed.
Seeing Clarence's irritation, Rachel quickly intervened. "Clarence, this is Monica, my aunt."
"Rachel's aunt?"
"Why is she here?" Clarence questioned.
Before he could finish, Monica Hunk slammed the table, angrily retorting, "What do you mean by that? Why can't I come? This is my niece's villa, and I can come whenever I want."
"Humph, it's you, a grown man and the brother-in-law of my deceased niece, living under the same roof as my niece. If this gets out, how will my niece face the world?" Monica continued, her tone harsh.
"She's a CEO, and you're ruining her reputation," she added, before turning her attention to Clarence.
"Some people just have no sense. They cling to others' homes and refuse to leave. It's ridiculous," she concluded.
Clarence observed Monica with interest. Was she trying to drive him away?
"Hey, Aunt, how many times do I have to tell you? Clarence gave me this villa. Otherwise, our family of three wouldn't have a place to live. How can you say that?"
Rachel retorted indignantly, firmly standing by Clarence's side.
"So what? He thinks he's something special just because he has a little money?"
Monica sneered. "Oh, he gives you a villa, and suddenly you're blindly following him?"
"Rachel, it's not your fault your mom is saying this. You're too naive. People take advantage of you whenever they give you a little benefit!"
Monica continued, even more unreasonable than Camille, pulling Rachel behind her protectively.
Camille wanted to say something long ago, but her status made it difficult. Monica, on the other hand, had no such qualms.
After all, no one wanted an outsider living in their villa.
"Some people are just too stubborn. They end up killing their whole family, and living under the same roof as such people will only lead to trouble," Monica concluded with authority.
Clarence narrowed his eyes. According to convention, Rachel was his sister-in-law, and Rachel's relatives were his relatives too.
Monica was also considered an elder.
But this elder had an agenda and spoke with barbs.
Before he could say anything, Rachel pushed Monica away.
"Aunt, if you keep talking like this, don't blame me for getting angry," Rachel warned.
"Clarence, don't bother arguing with her. That's just how she is," Camille hurriedly interjected, trying to calm things down.
"Rachel, do you even respect anyone? She's your aunt, and yet you're helping an outsider go against your aunt?"
Rachel snorted. "Aunt?"
Was she good to them? Where was she when their family was in trouble?
Now that they lived in a villa and she had become the CEO of Nyse Group, this Aunt suddenly popped up.
Rachel took a deep breath and said, "Aunt, there must be something you want to say, right? If you have something to say, just say it."
Monica glanced at Clarence and smirked. "Well then, I'll tell you."
"You should know that my husband is in Zensea and he's quite a prominent figure. I often go to high-end places too."
"I have a friend whose family has billions in wealth in Zensea. They're practically influential."
After saying this, she deliberately paid attention to Clarence's reaction.
"Does buying a villa make you impressive?"
"What are you compared to someone like him?"
But it seemed that Clarence didn't react much.
Rachel chimed in, "Aunt, if you have something to say, just say it. Why bring up irrelevant things?"
Monica was speechless. Even though she knew billionaires, could any of them give her a little respect?
She cleared her throat and said, "I came here today to bring Rachel a great opportunity."
"My friend has a son, young, wealthy, and talented, but still without a girlfriend."
"I thought since we're all family, even though Rachel has been married once, she hasn't consummated the marriage. After all, she's a famous beauty in Zensea. So, I introduced Rachel to that young master."
"And you know what? That young master has been admiring Rachel for a long time. He is destined for you."
"I'm here to inform you to arrange a meeting quickly. Let Rachel marry him and become a young mistress. Why bother being a hated female CEO? Your family can live a good life too. Otherwise, living in someone else's bought villa, you'll always be at their mercy."
This sounded like she was pointing fingers and casting blame.
Rachel was stunned. She never expected Monica to come here to set her up on a blind date.
This couldn't work. Her husband had just passed away, and she had new projects to manage. She couldn't afford to get involved.
Besides, she still had feelings for Chad and didn't want a boyfriend.
"No!" Rachel asserted, refusing outright.
"Silly girl, why not? This is a rare opportunity," Monica persisted.
"Why did you hook up with Chad back then? That was good, but now that the Van Family has fallen, another young master is interested in you. This is a rare chance," Camille chimed in hurriedly.
Rachel was speechless.
"Mom, what do you take me for? A commodity to be traded? I was with Chad not for his money, but for his character."
"Rachel, why are you so stubborn? Do you think Nyse Group has a future? The four major families have their eyes on you. If you keep hanging out with this unlucky guy, something bad will happen sooner or later. Aunt is doing this for your good."
"You should think about yourself and your parents. They're getting old. Do you want to see them sad because of you?"
Clarence understood. Camille and Monica were following a script.
"Are you done?"
Clarence spoke lightly at this point.
