Business Department.
Manager's Office.
The manager of the Business Department, Waylon, is a middle-aged man wearing gold-rimmed glasses. Dressed in a suit and with a slicked-back hairstyle, he continuously scrutinized Jackson as if trying to see through him.
"Mr. Jackson, have you ever worked in sales before?" Waylon asked casually.
"I have." Jackson nodded. In his line of work as an assassin, he considered it sales, accepting bounty jobs, traveling far to collect the heads of others, and then returning to collect the bounty.
"It seems you have experience, good. I appreciate talents like you," Waylon nodded with satisfaction. Then, with a shift in his tone, he said seriously, "As the saying goes, the capable are tasked with more. Jackson, the company's business is tight at the moment. Since you have experience in this field, I will assign you a special task, achieve a performance of 750,000 dollars within a week. Can you do it?"
750,000 dollars in performance?
And within a week?
Jackson suddenly felt an urge to grab a chair and smack it across Waylon's face. This was clearly deliberate difficulty.
Seeing the malicious smile on Waylon's face, Jackson began to understand. It seemed like Violet had specifically instructed this.
Did she want him to back down? Jackson sneered internally. 'Retreat' was not something he could accept. He slammed his hand on the desk, startling Waylon.
"750,000 dollars in performance, right? With a one-week deadline? Fine, I’ll get the job done!"
With that, Jackson turned and left.
"Damn show-off," Waylon cursed under his breath.
In sales, without connections, it's impossible to achieve performance in a short time. 750,000 dollars? If Jackson could even bring in a 75,000 dollars deal, it would be a miracle!
...
The Business Department was a relatively busy area.
Almost every employee was busy with their work, making calls, and running errands.
Jackson arrived at his desk, placed his things, and started thinking about how to attract clients.
750,000 dollars, 750,000 dollars.
Though he had put on a show in front of Waylon, reality was often harsh. Having left Jimstantham City for three years, his previous connections were almost all lost or forgotten. This approach was clearly not viable.
He took out his phone and made an international call.
"Wicked Iris, within a week, I need to generate 750,000 dollars in performance for Griffith Group. Think of something quickly!" As soon as the call connected, Jackson immediately spoke in an irritated tone.
Since domestic connections were useless, he had to look abroad. Wicked Iris was Jackson's partner for the past three years. She got the jobs, and Jackson executed them. Now facing a difficult task, he naturally turned to her.
"What? 750,000 dollars? Why don't you just die! I don't have that kind of money! Think of another way, don't bother me!" Upon hearing about the huge sum, Wicked Iris fully exhibited her lioness roar.
"I'm telling you, Wicked Iris, be reasonable. You were the one desperate for this job, and now... Hello? Hello! Damn it, Wicked Iris, hanging up on me again!" Jackson fumed as he heard the busy tone.
Wait till I get back to the States, I’ll teach you a lesson! Jackson gritted his teeth.
After much hesitation, Jackson decided to contact some connections he was reluctant to use. He opened his phone, looking for friends involved in the pharmaceutical industry.
Finally, Jackson clicked on the avatar of a blonde beauty.
"Are you there?" Jackson greeted.
Buzz Buzz Buzz!
In less than three seconds, the blonde beauty, marked as 'Sophia', replied with several messages in a row, filling up the entire screen.
She even tried to start a video call, showing great enthusiasm.
Jackson, of course, couldn't agree to this and warned her that if she continued to behave in such a manner, he would immediately block her as a friend, which finally stopped Sophia's overzealous actions.
This Sophia had clung to him ever since he saved her a few times during a mission in America years ago. She had repeatedly approached him actively, using various tactics to try to seduce Jackson.
Honestly, Sophia was a first-rate beauty, with a voluptuous figure and a long-lasting charm, and she was also the chairman of a large corporation in America. If it weren't for Jackson's dislike of overly enthusiastic and bold women, he might have really been unable to resist her.
Because of this, Jackson always avoided her. If it weren't for the fact that Sophia's company specialized in pharmaceuticals, Jackson wouldn't have thought of contacting her this time.
"My dear God of Wind, I miss you so much. When can you come to my house?" Sophia sent a string of messages in English, which were overly cheesy.
"I'm in the Land of the Red Dragon. Don't tell anyone," Jackson replied briefly. He had returned to the Land of the Red Dragon mainly to deal with the S virus and didn't want to attract too much attention, otherwise, he wouldn't be able to have peace.
"My God, when did you go back? I want to visit your hometown, can I?" Sophia sent an excited emoji and asked immediately.
"No! If you keep this up, I won't deal with you again!" Jackson replied angrily.
"My dear God of Wind, I miss you terribly. Please forgive my mistake." Americans are like this, never beating around the bush with their feelings, saying what they feel directly and passionately.
Jackson thought that was more like it, and then brought up business, "I am in Jimstantham City in the Land of the Red Dragon, working for a pharmaceutical company called the Griffith Group. I need to pull off a deal, 750,000 dollars will do. Take care of it!"
"My God! What kind of company is lucky enough to hire you? How much are they paying you?" Sophia sent a shocked emoji.
"Just starting, a base salary of 1,800 dollars plus commission," Jackson replied after glancing at the employee salary standard.
"1,800? That's outrageous! They are exploiting the time of the God of Wind! God of Wind, come to me, I'll offer you a salary of 150,000 dollars, no, 1,500,000 dollars a month!" Sophia quickly said.
"Cut the nonsense, if I go to your company, you'll devour me! Hurry up, I want to see the performance report within a week!" Jackson replied irritably.
At that moment, Sophia was in America attending a shareholders' meeting. One moment she had a serious businesswoman's demeanour, and the next, she was holding her phone, laughing so hard that she had to hold her stomach, confusing the shareholders who had no idea what was going on with their chairman.
"The God of Wind has said that he receives commissions, although he only needs 750,000 dollars, the more the performance, the more he can earn! Great, I'm so smart!" Sophia was extremely happy.
...
"Done!" Putting away his phone, Jackson showed a smug smile, just waiting for Sophia's performance report. When that time came, he planned to severely slap Violet's face.
"You're new here, right?" At this moment, a voice came from not too far away.
Jackson turned his head to see a chubby man approaching.
"Yes," Jackson nodded.
"My name is Nolan Olson, but you can call me Nolan." The chubby man grinned and said.
Jackson also introduced himself, making their acquaintance.
"Mr. Jackson, I'm considered an old employee in the sales department, been here for three years, skilled in everything. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!" Nolan said, patting his chest in a senior's manner.
"Sure," Jackson replied politely.
"Chatting during work hours, don't you all want performance anymore?" At this moment, a discordant voice rang out.
