After sending Alfox on his way, Ruxley returned to the villa, tidied up briefly, and washed the blood off his body before heading to Donghae Bluesky Hospital.
He had already promised Carmelia that he would tell her a story tonight.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, Sherise was pacing anxiously in the corridor, phone in hand.
"Why haven't I received a call yet? Did something happen?" Sherise stared at her phone, her face full of worry.
Earlier, she had asked Vanesse to call her as soon as she rescued Ruxley, but hours had passed, and there was still no word.
Could something have gone wrong?
What Sherise didn't know was that Vanesse had completely forgotten.
The day had been overwhelming for her, and she was caught up in her own chaotic state, neglecting to inform Sherise.
The Shura Palace warriors, assigned to protect Sherise and Carmelia, noticed her anxious demeanor and tried to comfort her. "Miss Potter, please don't worry! The Lord is in no danger!"
They wished they could tell her how powerful Shura Palace was, but Ruxley had ordered them to keep it confidential. So, Sherise remained in the dark.
Just as Sherise was about to call Vanesse to check on the situation, she heard the sound of footsteps approaching. She quickly turned toward the entrance of the corridor and saw a familiar figure—Ruxley had arrived at the hospital!
Relief and joy surged in Sherise's eyes. She rushed toward Ruxley, throwing herself into his arms, her body trembling uncontrollably as tears streamed down her face. "You're back! Thank goodness, you're finally back!"
Ever since she had learned that the Fox family was after Ruxley, she had been consumed with fear for his safety. Now, seeing him safe and sound, the weight on her heart lifted at last.
Ruxley's eyes softened with endless tenderness. He held Sherise close, gently patting her back as he whispered, "It's okay now. Everything's fine."
Sherise's emotions gradually calmed down under Ruxley's comforting embrace. Embarrassed, she wiped the tears from her face and tried to pull away, but Ruxley held her firmly, refusing to let go.
"Ruxley, let me go! People are watching!" Sherise blushed, lightly punching his chest in protest.
But Ruxley was unfazed, a playful smile on his face as he teased, "No way. You were the one who threw yourself into my arms!"
Sherise struggled a little more, but when she realized he wasn't letting go, her face flushed even deeper. Deciding to change the subject, she asked, "How are things now? the Fox family hasn't caused you any more trouble, have they?"
She still believed Vanesse had saved Ruxley.
"Trouble me?" Ruxley chuckled, a peculiar smile tugging at his lips. "I'm afraid they won't have the chance to do that anymore."
"What do you mean?" Sherise asked, bewildered.
Ruxley calmly replied, "the Fox family has been wiped out. There's no Fox family left in Eastern City."
"What?!" Sherise gasped, her eyes wide in disbelief. She never imagined that the Fox family could be destroyed.
"How... how did that happen?" she stammered.
Ruxley smiled slightly and explained, "I have some connections with Alfox from the Intelligence Department of Saultrouge Kingdom's Martial Department. He happened to be in Eastern City recently, so he helped me deal with the Fox family."
Ruxley deliberately left out any mention of Shura Palace to avoid worrying Sherise.
"So that's how it is," Sherise muttered, finally understanding. She had thought all along that it was Vanesse who had taken down the Fox family.
Suddenly, Ruxley playfully smacked her on the butt.
"Ah!" Sherise yelped in surprise, blushing as she broke free from his arms, rubbing her bottom as she pouted, "Why did you hit me?"
"Why do you think?" Ruxley pretended to be angry. "I told you not to worry, but you went behind my back and asked someone to help me. Don't you trust my abilities?"
He raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eyes as he asked, "By the way, how do you know Vanesse? She's the eldest daughter of The Cole family. Why would she help you for no reason?"
Earlier, Theoleon had sent him information about Vanesse, and to his surprise, she was... into women. Could it be that Sherise and Vanesse were...
Sherise saw the strange look in his eyes and immediately knew what he was thinking. Her face turned red, and she quickly explained, "It's not what you think! I only met her once at a banquet!"
She recounted her brief encounter with Vanesse to Ruxley, clearing up his misunderstanding.
Ruxley snorted. "Well, stay away from that crazy woman from now on. She dared to steal my woman. If I see her again, I won't let her off!"
Sherise's cheeks flushed even more as she lightly hit his chest. "What nonsense are you talking about? Who's your woman?"
Ruxley gazed at her shy, endearing expression and felt a surge of emotion he could no longer suppress. Grabbing her hand, he said sincerely, "Sherise, be my girlfriend."
Sherise froze, staring at him in disbelief. "What... what did you just say?"
Ruxley smiled warmly and repeated, "Sherise, I like you. Be my girlfriend. I'll protect you, love you, and make you the happiest woman in the world."
Boom!
Hearing his heartfelt confession felt like thunder in Sherise's ears. Her mind went blank, and her breath caught in her throat. She bit her lip, trying to hold back her emotions, but the more she tried, the more tears welled up in her eyes until they spilled over uncontrollably.
She had been waiting for these words from Ruxley for three long years. She had fallen for him back then, but he had left her to seek revenge. Ever since, she had waited for his return, hoping to hear him say, "I like you."
And now, she had finally heard those words!
Seeing her tears, Ruxley could no longer hold back either. He pulled Sherise close and kissed her deeply, pouring all his love into that single kiss.
Nearby, the Shura Palace warriors smiled at the sight and quietly left the corridor, leaving this beautiful moment to Ruxley and Sherise.
