Chapter 13 Begged for Mercy

Belle Ye was awakened by the cold. In her dream, everything was bleak in ice and snow. When she woke up, she felt like her body was wrapped in December’s frost. The cold bit her skin, almost like attacking her. June was sunny and July was hot. June and July in Gang City were the hottest time of the year. Even at night, it was so hot that people felt like stripping their own skin. In this environment, she felt cold instead. Something was wrong with her body. She was not in the mood to look at the man closely. She grabbed the pillow beside her and fell asleep. The next second, she felt a big hand gripped her jaw. It hurt her so bad that she jolted awake. “Do you still want to sleep?” Ethan Mo cupped her chin tightly as he swung it left to right staring at her ugly face. She felt like a stranger. He raised his eyebrows and shrugged the thought off his mind. Who cared if she was a stranger? She was Belle Ye. “You still have many opportunities to sleep.” he looked at from higher position and sneered, “May Ning is still asleep in the hospital. You can’t sleep. If you’re asleep, how am I supposed to settle this problem?” She trembled when she heard May Ning was mentioned. He felt her trembling and pinched her even tighter, “Are you afraid? Do you know what it’s like to sleep not knowing when to wake up? Do you know what it’s like to be alive but not awake?” He stared at her with sinister eyes as he pinched her tighter. Her chin turned red from the pain. Belle Ye was motionless. Something flashed quickly in her eyes, but it was too quick that Ethan Mo failed to catch it. She stared him without focus. She gulped and started making weird noises, “Ha ha… Ha ha ha…” Ethan Mo was pissed off. He grabbed her by the neck and pin her on the bed. Her neck was slender and fair. The blood vessels were visible to the naked eye. He choked her hard. He wanted to strangle her without mercy. Belle Ye’s eye turned white. Out of reflex, she tried to push his hands off her, but her strength was no feat to his. Her face turned red to purple to blue. Her breath stuck in her throat, she couldn’t exhale. She stared at the man before her. He wanted to kill her. After her initial struggle, she calmed down. She gave up her resistance and took her hands back waiting for her death. She wanted to beg to mercy. If it was necessary, she would kneel before him and begged him not to kill her. She would eventually die anyway. He needed not get his hands dirty. But, she couldn’t say a word. She would probably just die. Her consciousness slowly left her body. She closed her eyes. She didn’t want the man to the last person she saw before she died. She thought that she was going to die, but Ethan Mo suddenly let her go. He bent down and whispered, “It’s too kind to let you die like this, Belle. You should rather live.” She opened her eyes only to see his cruel and cold eyes staring back at her, “May Ning is still alive. You should live for her sake. You have escaped for five years now. Do you remember that prison is waiting for you?” “Then, turn me in.” she said. She knew she couldn’t escape and jail was a better option that facing this man. “It’s too late.” Ethan Mo straightened up and adjust his tie, “I’ve changed my mind. You can escape prison. You’re good at that. There is another place for you and I can guarantee you that it’s ten thousand times better than prison.” He smiled provokingly, “Gang City’s finest, Miss Belle Ye must live in a sunny and bright place. Can you please get your precious hands off me? I suggest you not to dispute with a worthless woman like me. I kneel before you and I beg for your mercy.” She banged her head on the floor hardly and it made a loud noise. She showed her utmost sincerity and started to climb his legs, “Mr. Mo, I was wrong before. My death is worthless. You can let me go and I will find own way to die—” “BELLE YE!” He was so angry that his veins were showing. He clenched his fists tightly. He wished he could strangle her now. Belle Ye. Did this woman remember that she was Belle Ye? How could the arrogant and domineering Belle Ye kneel down and beg for mercy without any self-esteem? How could she be so humble to say such words?
