Jayne Lin was scared by the antiques’ high price.
Chase Lu walked by Jayne quietly. He could afford these antiques, but Jayne must not believe him.
But when they were about to leave, he was attracted by a gray, dirty drinking cup.
Chase took the cup and touched it. Its price was set as 2000 yuan.
“You’re of such a good sense. This is the antique from the Song Dynasty. Song’s prime-minister used to drink with it. Though it looks dirty, it’s a treasure.” The shop owner saw Chase touching that unattractive, ordinary cup, cheerful.
The owner was gypped three years ago. He spent 10,000 on it, and then he set a price of 50,000. Nobody cared about it.
Then he cut the price again and again to 2000 now, but still, nobody looked at it.
So, the owner was certain to be cheerful that someone had noticed this cup.
“Oh?” Chase smiled. He flicked the cup by the ear and then heard its resound.
Chase felt surprised in his heart, but he didn’t show it at all.
“Don’t you want to buy this as a gift?” Jayne was speechless.
“Yes, it’s cheap.” Chase smiled.
Jayne felt helpless. It would be fine to buy the cheap, but at least he had to buy a good-looking one.
“Excuse me, can you cut the price lower?” Chase looked at the owner.
The owner shook his head. “Buddy, It’s the lowest price. I can only make little money from it.”
“Well, indeed, it’s hard to make money from such a dirty cup. Pack it up.” Chase nodded.
“Are you mad to spend 2000 yuan on such a dirt cup? My father won’t accept it.” Jayne stared at Chase.
“Don’t worry, dad will like it.” Chase smiled and then paid for it without hesitation.
The owner took the money and then prepared to pack it up.
“Boy, could you please let me have a look at this cup?”
At this moment, a spirited middle-aged man came in.
“Professor Yu, you’re here.” The owner put down the cup and came to welcome the middle-aged man.
“Professor Yu.”
“Professor Yu.”
People in this shop all came over to greet.
This man was Todd Yu, a reputable expert in antique appreciation. He was a professor in archeology at the University of Joe City. He had collected many valuable antiques, and the TV show often invited him to be the honored guest to appraise the antiques.
Everyone who liked antique knew and respected him.
Todd nodded to the crowd and then looked at the cup in Chase’s hand.
“Boy, could you please let me have a look?” Todd asked again.
Chase nodded, handing the cup to Todd.
He knew Todd as well, and he wanted to see Todd’s abilities.
“Boy, how much have you bought this cup?” Todd touched the cup with excitement, but he covered it well and let no one find it.
“2000 yuan,” Chase said.
“It seems to be a cultural relic, but the color is more likely to be painted in technical skills, which means that the possibility of it being a cultural relic is less than 10 percent. But I like having bets.” Todd explained.
“I had the same idea as yours, so I spent 10,000 on it, but unfortunately, I’m wrong.” The owner chipped in with pity.
“Risks always accompany with bet, especially on antiques.” Todd smiled. “Boy, sell it to me for 20,000. How about that?”
Did Todd said that he intended to spend 20,000 to buy a dirty cup worth 2000?
The crowd was shocked, coming over to scan the dirty cup.
But they couldn’t find anything special.
They didn’t believe what Todd said before. Bet? Todd couldn’t spend 20,000 to have a bet. He must have found something.
“20,000?” The owner was surprised and regretful.
“Sorry, it’s a gift for my father-in-law, so I won’t sell it.” Chase shook his head.
Chase knew Todd had found this cup’s real value, as well.
“100,000 yuan!” Seeing Chase was about to leave, Todd hurriedly offered.
100,000 yuan?
People now could realize that the cup must have something special.
It must be a real cultural relic!
The owner was regretful to death!
He was not a fool, so he naturally could guess its value now.
Jayne’s mouth widely opened. She couldn’t believe that a dirty cup costing 2000 yuan could be sold for 100,000 yuan!
Just as she intended to persuade Chase to sell it, the owner said first.
“Sorry, boy, I can’t sell it to you.”
Then he intended to snatch the cup in Chase’s hand.
