Chapter 22 He Does Not Deserve

“Chase, I thought you wouldn’t come.” Maybe because Chase Lu gave her the supreme VIP card, Jeannie Lin’s attitude was quite polite. The card was really cool, which had helped Jeannie and Shell buy many luxuries two days before. “How can it be?” Chase smiled. Chase was fine, so Jayne Lin rested assured. Thought she wanted her families to admit Chase, she had complained about Chase’s useless. “Daddy, sit here,” Cassie called Chase. “OK.” Chase sat by Cassie. “It this the birthday gift you bought for your dad?” Shell pointed at the blue bag in Chase’s hand. “Yes, has dad come back yet?” Chase nodded, putting the bag on the tea table. The bag’s blue color made no one clearly see the thing in it, but it was just an ordinary bag that seemed to come from an ordinary shop. Jayne saw the disdain in Shell’s eyes. To avoid Shell’s ugly words, Jayne turned the topic. “Mom, I’ve been promoted to be the supervisor of the sales department.” “Really? Your salary must raise much. You’re so promising.” Shell said with gladness. She was undoubtedly pleasant for her daughter’s achievement, though Jayne was married. “The salary raised to 6 thousand yuan a month, and the bonus raised too.” Jayne nodded. “Wow, Jayne, you’re so great. You’ve just worked there for less than one year! Your boss seems to be so wise to promote talent.” Jeannie was surprised, too. “You know how much I can do. It’s just fortune.” Jayne smiled. Honestly, if it was not because someone helped her make the contract, she had no achievement and ability to be the supervisor. “Jayne, trust yourself. And you earn more now, so you’d better keep your bank card carefully, in case any worm steals it.” Shell said with meaning. “Mom, Chase has his own money.” Jayne felt embarrassed. She knew Shell’s meaning. “Oh, Jayne, we heard your company had been acquired. Was it the new president who promoted you?” Jeannie suddenly asked. “No one knows the new president yet except for Mr. Shawn. Though the new president held a meeting today, no one could recognize him because of his sunglasses and hat.” Jayne shook her head, feeling funny about the new president’s mysterious actions. “Since you’ve been promoted, you should work hard. Let Chase Lu deal with the housework, and you make a showing in front of the new president.” Shell advised. “Well, I know. And my promotion is because I have made the contract on the Green City Building’s project, which even our manager couldn’t make. I’ve met difficulties, as well. But when I was about to give up, someone called their manager to help me. I don’t know anyone who has such a power, so I don’t know who he is.” Jayne said out her confusion. “Jayne, Could it be a rich man who has fallen in love with you? Though you’re married, you used to be the most famous beautiful girl at the University of Joel City.” Jeannie laughed. “What are you kidding?” Jayne stared at Jeannie. Though Jayne had thought of this before, as well, she couldn’t say such word in front of Chase. Chase was the kind that didn’t accept any betrayal, extremely sensitive. Jayne subconsciously looked at Chase, seeing Chase feeding Cassie dessert. Maybe he didn’t care about this at all, Jayne thought. Chase felt her eyes, turning around and smiling to her. The one who had helped Jayne was just himself, so of course, he didn’t take Jeannie’s words to heart. But Shell was excited about Jeannie’s words. If a wealthy man fell in love with Jayne, Shell would like to persuade Jayne to divorce Chase and marry the wealthy man. On the one hand, Jayne would live better; on the other hand, they would be respected because of Jayne’s marriage with the wealthy. “I’m just kidding. Never mind.” Jeannie smiled. “Oh, Hayes, I told you this a few days later. Was it you who helped my sister?” Jeannie suddenly turned to Hayes Hu. “Ah? I...I just mentioned this to my father. I don’t know whether it was him. I’ll ask him tonight.” Hayes was stunned, but then he admitted. “No need to ask. Your father helped my mother last time, so it must be him again this time. Then Shell turned to Chase. “And Chase Lu, you should also thank Hayes for his help.” Chase put down the dessert in his hand, raising his head. “He doesn’t deserve my gratitude.” Chase had felt uncomfortable before when Hayes admitted the contribution to Shell’s contract. Now, this bastard even tried to lie to Jayne, which was beyond Chase’s tolerance.
