"What did you say? Hayes Hu helped me before and helped Jayne Lin again. What do you mean that he didn't deserve your thanks?" Shell Wang didn't expect Chase Lu would talk back to her, so she suddenly became angry.
Chase looked indifferently and turned to Hayes, asked her in a deep voice, "Do you dare to call your father now?"
"What?"
"Ask him if it was he who helped my mother and my wife with those two critical contracts."
"I..." Facing Chase's doubts, Hayes was a little flustered. How could his dad have such great power?
Not to mention the richest man, John, even Mr. Wang of Green City Group, was not a person his dad could touch. These two things had nothing to do with his dad.
"Chase, what do you mean? You're a good-for-nothing, but don't you allow others to have the ability? If it wasn't Hayes's dad who helped, was it you?" Jeannie Lin suddenly became angry when he saw Chase questioning her boyfriend.
"It doesn't matter whether I helped or not, the key is if he dares to call and ask his dad. Or you can call John and Wall Wang. I have their phone numbers. Do you need them?" Chase sneered.
"We will call. When we verify it, don't blame me for not giving you a face." Jeannie also sneered.
Chase smiled teasingly and thought that welcomed to prove that I was wrong anytime.
"Hayes, call your dad to let some people know how powerful your family is," Jeannie urged.
Jayne Lin and Shell also looked at Hayes.
Hayes was hesitant and worried.
But thinking about his understanding with his dad, he decided to take a risk. Otherwise, if this matter was revealed, he would lose face, and he had no possibility with Jeannie as well.
"Dad, Chase doesn't believe that you help Aunt Shell with a confession to John last time and persuade Mr.Wang to give the business of Green City Group to Jayne. He insisted that I call you for confirmation. Help me one more time to tell him the truth." Hayes kept thinking about his words.
He was quite clever. With his knowledge of his dad, he was sure his dad would understand what was going on now that he had spoken.
"Hayes, I told you to keep a low profile. Boy, you're still too young and too naive. I know you love Jeannie, then do something for her in private. Don't show off in public. Remember, never let others know your intention and your action. Always remember it, my son."
"OK, dad."
"You know what? It doesn't matter whether people believe in you or not. Just be yourself and believe in yourself. OK?"|
"Yeah. I know. Thanks, dad."
"Take care of yourself. I must go now. I'll have dinner with Mr. Wang. Bye." Hayes's dad hung up the phone as he spoke.
Hayes was on speakerphone, and everyone in the house heard his dad's words.
Now, except for Chase, no one doubted it. And all were impressed that Hayes's dad was such good at dealing with people.
"Chase, what else do you have to say?" Jeannie asked with a high-eyed look at the Chase.
"Chase, I hope you are satisfied with this answer." Hayes also joked at the Chase with his provocative face.
Chase did not pay attention to Jeannie. He looked at Hayes, his shamelessness, and his father had simply refreshed Chase's views.
"You and your father do a good job, very good!" Chase narrowed his eyes and smiled, "Your family runs a supermarket, right? I hope you and your father don't regret the shamelessness you did today."
"Chase, it's true that my family runs a supermarket. You wouldn't go to my supermarket to swindle because my dad helped Jayne?" Hayes opened his eyes deliberately and looked at the Chase in surprise.
Swindle?
Chase sneered in his heart and said nothing more.
"It's really like that the mud won't hold up the wall." Shell shook her head contemptuously.
Jayne looked at Chase and was quite annoyed. But she didn't want to complain about Chase at her family. She just sighed and said to Hayes, "Hayes, I'm sorry. I apologize for Chase's recklessness to you, and thank your father for helping me before."
"Jayne, that's a bit serious, I didn't intend to tell you about it, but Chase was a bit too pushy, I had to call my dad to prove my words," Hayes explained as if he couldn't afford it.
Jayne didn't recognize Hayes's hypocrisy at all. On the contrary, she felt that the gap between her husband and this prospective brother-in-law was suddenly apparent.
It was incomparable.
"Chase, do you still feel that Hayes is not qualified to make you apologize now?" Shell asked again.
Chase was a bit annoyed, but he thought it over and endured it.
He originally had many ways to prove the shamelessness of Hayes and his father. But seeing the way Shell and Jeannie treated him, he changed his mind.
Since they enjoy the feeling of being cheated, let them go.
After today, he wasn't going to come back to the Lin Family to be disagreeable.
As for his wife, he would find an opportunity to tell her the truth, whether she believed him or not was up to her.
When Doug Lin finally returned from work at six in the evening, Jayne and Jeannie brought out the food and prepared to have dinner.
"Uncle, Happy birthday! This is a vase from the Tang Dynasty. I found it in the antique market." Before starting the meal, Hayes couldn't wait to present his gift.
Doug received the vase and took a few looks at it, both the pattern and the workmanship were quite fine. But he saw at a glance that it wasn't a vase from the Tang Dynasty at all, but a modern industrial replica.
But even if it was an imitation, he knew that this kind of vase was worthy of one or two hundred thousand. So he nodded and said, "Hayes, you are very thoughtful! Jeannie, take the vase down. I like it very much."
Receiving Doug's appreciation, Jeannie and Hayes were both a little excited.
"Chase, didn't you say that you also bought a gift for uncle, take it out for everyone to see." Hayes looked at Chase with provocatively smiling.
Jeannie, who was about to arrange the vase, also stopped, preparing to see what Chase would give.
Chase took out that cup from the bag and handed it to Doug, "Dad, happy birthday. This is a Song Dynasty phosphorescent jade cup, perfect for drinking wine. I hope you like it."
"Oh my god, this stupid cup of yours is a phosphorescent jade cup? Chase, do you regard us as three-year-old kids?" Seeing Chase take out an insignificant clay cup, Jeannie couldn't help but scoff.
Hayes was also teasing. Especially when he heard Chase say that it was a radiant jade cup from the Southern Song Dynasty, he almost couldn't hold back his laughter.
Jayne was embarrassed and wanted to explain that even if this cup wasn't a glowing jade cup, Professor Todd Yu had offered 150,000 yuan to buy it.
Unlike others' ridicule, Doug stared at the cup in front of him. But there was a sudden flash of excitement in his eyes.
This excitement made him not reach for the cup in Chase's hand for the first time.
But just when he came back to take the cup, Shell did something before him.
"Chase! That's enough! You wronged Hayes before, but now you took out a broken earth cup to pass off as a glowing jade cup, you've let me down. I put up with you being poor. As long as Jayne likes you, I won't bother to say more, but I can't stand you are so bad. Take this piece of shit of yours! Go away and don't ever come to the house to embarrass yourself again!"
Shell angrily slapped the cup in Chase's hand, and it fell to the floor with a clatter.
