“Hey! This is way out of line! How can you do it to your families!”
“She’s your sister, Daisy! You don’t think of it as inappropriate?”
“We need harmony in our family! What do you thinks other people would talk about us if they think this is how we treat each other?”
All the relatives started condemning Daisy Chen.
She and Wenjie just stood aside and stayed silent, and Ting, got away from it since Yong didn’t sell her out, also dared not say a word, worrying that the grandma would blame her as well.
“This was all because of my misjudge, sorry to put you through this, Dinah.”
As reluctant as the grandma was, she had apologized since there were quite many people around.
“Well, I’ll leave you to your family business, then. But here’s the thing: I’m not sure how I would react if I hear that my sister-in-law is bullied again, see?” Said Gang, after which he grabbed Yong and was about to leave.
“Wait, your sister-in-law? Is she one of our families?” Asked the grandma, out of curiosity raised by Gang’s words.
“Miss Dinah, of course. Oh there’s a project that out Fukou Street would like to work with your people, and I think you’ve heard of it and was quite interested. Put Dinah in charge of it, will you?” Gang turned around and said to the grandma, smiling.
“If you need any help,, just come to me.”Then he waved his goodbye and left.
And people’s eyes were all fixed on Dinah, for they had no idea that Dinah had become Gang’s adopted sister.
It was actually Victor’s idea, to give Dinah a shelter just in case someone wants to spite her again.
“Dinah? His sister-in-law?When?” Said the grandma, her curiosity peaked.
“Well...couple of days ago.” Replied Dinah as she stick her tongue out like a naughty girl. It was her first time lying to someone, she didn’t even know who Gang was.
But she knew that it was certainly because of Victor, for Gang had no reason to help her out of No. 13th Mansion. Though she didn’t know what’s the connection between Gang and Victor, but it was assuring enough for her to know that Victor participated in it,
Then grandma said to everyone:“Out family had been planning to get a position there in Fukou street to expand our medicine business, it would be a great progress in the development of our company. Also, Fukou street is quite important for our business in the whole Jing’an District. Since Gang is the leader there, we’ll have to deal with him first. He’s been running his business there for ten years and had become friends to both police and criminals, that Yong was just nothing comparing with him.”
Then she turned to Dinah and said:”I’ve never thought we could achieve it so easily, and it was all your credit, Dinah, nice work.”
Her voice turned stern as she looked to Daisy:”To give credit when credit is due is the rule of our family, and also the opposite of it. Sibling rivalry is completely unacceptable It’s just impossible for me to trust you and put you guys in charge of our company, do you understand!”
“Yes, grandma...”
“Yes...”Murmured Daisy, head hanging low and eyes filled with spite. She was skeptical that Dinah would become Gang’s sister in law without anyone knowing it, there might be something that Dinah kept from them.
But it was not the timing to question Dinah, since grandma would certainly punish her. Daisy was smart enough to know what grandma meant: there would be no punishment if they abide by her orders and just apologize, since grandma was always partial to her own kin.
“Sorry, grandma, for blaming on Dinah without getting to know what really happened.” Said Ting, sincerely.
Then she turned to Dinah and said:”Sorry, Dinah, as your assistant I should’ve learn more about your plans, both in business and daily life, instead of jumping to conclusion without thorough consideration.
Dinah smiled and forgave her, since she would be considered narrow-minded if she didn’t do so.
Well, as least that’s what all her relatives thought.
“I would let go of your responsibility of pilfering money from the project we worked before, for we’ve wronged you today, what do you think?” Said the grandma.
Dinah wanted to make it clear that she didn’t pilfer the money, but there would be no explanation of how Victor spent that much money. So she just nodded.
It made people sure that Dinah, the project leader, was rich as hell.
Especially Daisy. People all thought that it was her that managed the party in the Cloud Palace, but she knew that it was Victor that took the money from Dinah to throw that birthday party. It would take at least a few hundred thousand to book the whole palace and have Xinglun Zhou singing for them, and it was not just about the money. In Daisy’s suspicions, there must be something going on between Dinah and some Mr. Big.
Daisy found that Dinah was getting mysterious to her, as if she was just playing innocent while having some secret agendas. She even hooked up with Gang.
Daisy was determined to find out what’s behind the curtain.
Dinah left the room when the meeting ended, while others mostly stayed.
“You have to think about grandma whenever you guys plan something, this is embarrassing, having an agenda disclosed in front of so many people.”
“And you guys don’t know that it was Mingzhu Group’s demand to put Dinah in charge of the project, it is just not that you can replace her by getting her off there. If anything goes wrong and Mingzhu Group call off the cooperation, it would still be our family that suffer the greatest loss! The whole business would shrink by at least a half since 40% of our commodities are from them.”
“This is just direct influence, there could be more.” Said Shoucai, Wenjie’s father.
“Well, Victor got our family aboard with Mingzhu Group from which we got a lot of help, that’s was where we began. Bu it has been three years and we haven’t really made much progress, still incapable of running business all by ourselves without Mingzhu’s help. Still a long way to go to be independent.” Said the grandma, whiningly.
“We could just put Dinah under our control! We don’t need anyone to replace her, we can use her as a stepping stone!” Said Daisy, grimly.
“Daisy, cut it!” Exclaimed the grand ma as she stared at Daisy, then she waved her hands and said:”Anyway, dismiss!”
Soon there was no one in the room but the grandma and some elders.
“I’m really sorry, Dinah, and Wenjie, I had to defend myself, can’t risk losing grandma’s trust in me.” Said Ting, after they all left the room.
“It’s alright, it was all because of Dinah, anyway. That bitch...never thought that we would be backfired, such a disgrace!”
Then they all went outside the Chen’s house and was met with Dinah, whose alarm rang immediately as she saw them coming at her aggressively:”What...what do you want?”
