In the business world of Guan City, gaining favour from William Zhan was akin to having a shortcut to success, with limitless opportunities in the future. The couple had brought their children to the banquet to network and lay the groundwork for their future.
"Mr. Zhang just..."
"I escorted my two sisters for a short ride, and they have just returned."
Before William Zhan could complete a sentence, Johnson Zhang took the initiative to explain his recent actions, fearing that William Zhan might misconstrue his feelings towards the event or the hotel's service.
Guan City Hotel was one of the establishments under the Zhan family.
William Zhan nodded and walked past Johnson Zhang, greeting him out of politeness. Johnson Zhang hadn't fully grasped the situation yet. He was only aware that a group of people celebrated and walked past him, surrounding William Zhan and making him feel like an outsider.
When William Zhan attended banquets, he usually left after making an appearance; everyone had grown accustomed to it.
The bosses who had swiftly seized the opportunity to discuss business with William Zhan were secretly delighted, grateful for their prompt actions.
Soon, the Rolls-Royce with the license plate number "XX8888" departed from Guan City Hotel under the escort of several bodyguard cars.
"Sir, where would you like to go?"
The driver inquired as he drove.
William Zhan raised his hand to glance at his watch; it was only half-past nine in the evening, a relatively early hour for him. After a moment's thought, he said, "Let's head to Minyuan Garden."
The driver acknowledged the request.
To William Zhan's surprise, he arrived home earlier than Mila Hai.
Returning to the empty, lifeless abode without anyone else, William Zhan sat on the sofa, watching TV in boredom, waiting for his wife, who had left the hotel earlier than him but had not yet returned home.
The bodyguard had captured Mila Hai's every move at the banquet and sent the images to his mobile phone.
William Zhan examined the photos one by one. The woman seemed to revel in her meal as if she hadn't tasted good food in eight hundred years.
However, he found it more acceptable for her to hide in a corner and eat than to flirt with other men.
Glancing at her attire, William Zhan frowned. She wasn't even wearing an evening dress; it was too casual. Of course, had she been dolled up at the banquet, he would have locked the door and prevented her return.
Apart from Johnson Zhang, she hadn't engaged in conversation with any other men. Johnson Zhang was her best friend's cousin, and they had known each other for quite some time.
Finally, William Zhan fixated on a photo, his thin lips pressing tightly and his eyes turning increasingly cold and profound.
Even though the bodyguard was discreetly filming, the angle was rather clever. It happened to capture Johnson Zhang stealing glances at Mila Hai. As the head of the Zhan Group, William Zhan's eyes were as sharp as razors.
This subtle scene had fallen into his keen eyes, and he had noticed.
Johnson Zhang had feelings for Mila Hai!
He had a romantic rival!
The door lock made a noise.
William Zhan returned his phone to his trouser pocket and ceased perusing the photos.
Mila Hai opened the door and entered. She was surprised to see William Zhan sitting on the sofa, watching TV. She closed and locked the door before asking, "Mr. Zhan, you're not working late tonight?"
