Mila Hai took the pen, stood up, walked to the balcony railing, and signed her name on the agreement on the brick platform. William Zhan brought some ink pads and asked her to leave her fingerprints. The deal was prepared in duplicate, with each spouse keeping one copy. Mila Hai casually folded the agreement and stuffed it into her trouser pocket.
Observing her calm demeanour, William Zhan suddenly felt constricting in his heart, but he couldn't voice it. After all, he had composed the agreement, and most of its clauses were directed at her. She hadn't agreed to the terms that were safeguarding her.
"You've had a long day, so go to bed early."
"The same to you."
Mila Hai smiled and said, "I'll sit here for a while and enjoy the flowers. I've always dreamed of having a spacious balcony resembling a small garden. Now that it's come true, I love how it looks."
She seemed unfazed by the agreement.
Did she truly have no intention of building a relationship with him? Was he reading too much into things? How else could she be so carefree, not angered, and still smiling?
William Zhan observed her silently for a moment, then turned and left. Soon, he picked up his car keys and headed out.
Casually from the balcony, Mila Hai asked, "Mr. Zhan, are you going out?"
"Yes, you don't need to wait up. Just leave the door unlocked for me."
Mila Hai smiled, "I haven't waited for Mr. Zhan either."
William Zhan choked back his words.
Her response felt like a slap in the face.
With a sense of rejection, William Zhan left.
He went to the Lu Family to drink with Steven Lu, feeling truly upset because of Mila Hai. It was supposed to be her who should feel embarrassed and sad, but she seemed unaffected. Instead, he felt the sting of rejection. Perhaps it was the first time he had been disregarded in this manner.
Yes, Mila Hai didn't care how harsh his agreement was; she didn't care about him.
He was so handsome, yet she never considered falling for him.
He had an incredible physique, yet she never entertained the idea of being intimate with him.
Wait, what was he even complaining about?
He should be glad that she was so level-headed. At least she wasn't that shameless and clingy type of woman.
After this realization, William Zhan continued drinking, especially since Steven Lu had brought out exceptional wine. Eventually, William Zhan got drunk.
He had a remarkable tolerance for alcohol but could still get drunk. This indicated that he had consumed considerable alcohol and was quite a resilient drinker.
Steven Lu was even more inebriated. William Zhan could still walk alone, but Steven Lu was sprawled on the ground.
Finally, bodyguards picked up William Zhan.
During the journey, one of the bodyguards asked the slightly inebriated William Zhan, "Sir, where would you like to go back to?"
"Minyuan Garden."
Even though he had met his parents today, he couldn't stay out overnight. Regardless, he needed to show Mila Hai the respect a wife deserved.
The bodyguards escorted William Zhan back to Minyuan Garden.
Although William Zhan could still walk, the bodyguard was concerned and assisted him upstairs.
"Sir, do you want to wake up Mrs. Zhan?"
It was already late, and the matriarch would have gone to bed. Hence, the bodyguard asked this question.
William Zhan patted his pockets, trying to locate the door's key. Instinctively, he responded, "No need."
