Outside the Tang family villa.
"That's enough."
Camellia Tang forcefully shook off Ellison Jiang's hand and looked at him with tears in her eyes. "Ellison Jiang, haven't you caused enough trouble? This is the Tang family. Grandpa asked you to kneel, so just kneel. Why are you so stubborn?"
"Camellia, I..."
"You go back on your own."
Without saying more, Camellia Tang turned and walked back into the Tang family.
Ellison Jiang was left outside, wearing a helpless expression.
He was a proud Black Dragon, and he had never been treated like this before.
However, for the sake of Camellia Tang, he chose to endure.
He knew that in Camellia Tang's eyes, family's opinions were more important than anything else. Even as Camellia Tang reentered the house, he didn't follow.
Instead, he sat on the steps outside the villa, lit a cigarette, and took out his phone, calling Lucas. "I want to meet the Carefree King."
Now, all he could do was to help Camellia Tang obtain an invitation letter.
This would elevate her status within the family, and that would make her happy.
Soon, Lucas returned his call. "Brother Jiang, it's all arranged. The Carefree King wants to meet you personally. When do you want to meet him?"
"Tonight, at the Central Garden."
"Understood. I'll inform the Carefree King right away."
After speaking with Lucas, Ellison Jiang waited outside as the Tang family's family meeting continued for over an hour.
Eventually, the Tang family members started leaving, and so did Camellia Tang's family.
They all wore stern expressions, with Fawn He scolding Ellison Jiang and demanding that Camellia Tang divorce him.
The most infuriated was Zion Tang.
He knew that his father's shares would eventually be passed down to him.
Now, because of Ellison Jiang, Fernan Tang had taken back half of the shares, which amounted to millions of dollars.
"What a waste, causing more trouble than he's worth," Zion Tang glared fiercely at Ellison Jiang.
"Don't blame Ellison Jiang anymore," Camellia Tang said, once she had calmed down. She realized that she had been too impulsive earlier and felt sorry for Ellison Jiang. He had stood up for her, and she had blamed him.
Ellison Jiang smiled and said, "Camellia, don't worry. I will definitely get the Tang family an invitation to the succession ceremony. Your status within the family will rise."
However, no one believed his words.
"If there's a next time, I won't spare you," Fawn He scolded before leaving.
Back at home, Ellison Jiang was shunned by everyone in the family.
He stood alone on the balcony, smoking a cigarette.
Izaic Tang approached and said, "Ellison Jiang, don't take it to heart. You'll get used to it over time."
Ellison Jiang gave Izaic Tang a glance, not saying a word. Being treated so poorly, it seemed that Izaic Tang might just be the only person in the world to exhibit such cowardice.
Izaic Tang also wisely remained silent.
During the day, Ellison Jiang had stayed at home, cleaning and cooking, leading a leisurely life. He didn't care about how the Tang family perceived him; his only concern was Camellia Tang.
In the evening, Ellison Jiang found an excuse to leave the house.
In the city center, at the Central Garden, he met with the Carefree King in a pavilion.
"Did you kill Olav Xiao?"
"Yes."
Facing the Carefree King's question, Ellison Jiang didn't deny it. He said, "He deserved to die, and the Xiao family deserved it too."
The Carefree King frowned and then asked, "Why did you come to see me this time?"
"It's nothing major. The Tang family wants an invitation letter to your succession ceremony. You send someone to send one over."
After speaking, Ellison Jiang stood up to leave.
Although he and the Carefree King were on the same level, he had never considered the Carefree King as someone superior to him.
Not only the Carefree King, but even if all four Great Commanders were gathered together, he might not necessarily regard them highly.
"Wait," the Carefree King spoke up, stopping Ellison Jiang, who was about to leave.
"Hmm?" Ellison Jiang stopped and looked at him. "What is it? Do you have something else to say?"
"Olav Xiao was under my command," the Carefree King said with a hint of anger. Olav Xiao was under his command, and now he had been killed by Ellison Jiang without any explanation.
"So what?" Ellison Jiang remained indifferent.
"Don't you owe me an explanation?"
"I already said he deserved to die. I'm not asking you for an invitation. You can give it if you want, or not, I don't care."
With that, Ellison Jiang turned and walked away.
After he left, a man emerged from the shadows.
"King, doesn't he have too much arrogance?" the man said.
The Carefree King sighed and said with a wry smile, "That's just how he is. Don't say it's me; even if the Emperor himself were here, he might not necessarily show respect. Let this matter rest. It's true that Olav Xiao brought it upon himself. You should personally go to the Tang family and deliver an invitation."
The man wasn't satisfied and asked, "King, are we just letting it go like this?"
The Carefree King glanced at him and said, "What else can we do? Kill him? Although he submitted a resignation application, it hasn't been approved yet. Moreover, he's the commander of the Black Dragon Army, which consists of a million soldiers. Despite having the shortest time in command among the five armies, when combined with the other four armies, they still might not match the Black Dragon Army's strength. The higher-ups highly value him as the leader of the Black Dragon Army.”
"Yes, I will go to the Tang family," the man replied, no longer pressing the issue.
"Ah," the Carefree King sighed. "The reorganization of the Five Major Districts has been pushed into troubled waters again."
The position of overseeing the reorganization of the Five Major Districts was not supposed to fall on his shoulders. However, the Black Dragon had foreseen this and applied for resignation in advance, sensing that such an arrangement would be made from above.
At the same time, outside the Tang family villa.
A jeep pulled up, and several men in military uniforms got out of the car. They arrived at the Tang family's door and knocked.
Fernan Tang, who had been scarred by the last encounter with Olav Xiao, personally opened the door to greet them. He asked cautiously, "Generals, is there something you need?"
Last time, Olav Xiao had left him deeply traumatized, and he was worried that something unexpected had happened again. He inquired carefully.
A middle-aged man in a military uniform took out an exquisite invitation and handed it to Fernan Tang. He said, "It's an invitation to the Carefree King's succession ceremony."
Fernan Tang was stunned.
An invitation?
"Mr. Tang, you have a great grandson-in-law." The middle-aged man in battle robes left these words and then turned to leave.
Fernan Tang, on the other hand, stared at the invitation in his hand, momentarily unable to react.
"Grandpa, what's wrong?" Leila Tang walked out.
"The... the Western Frontier Army has brought an invitation," Fernan Tang said, still in a daze.
"Ah, so fast! Grandpa, I didn't lie to you, did I? I told you that this matter would be taken care of by John Liu. Look, in just half a day, the Liu family has acted on our behalf and had the Western Frontier Army deliver the invitation."
John Liu stepped forward and asked, "Darling, what's going on? Why are you so happy?"
"Sweetheart, thank you," Leila Tang kissed John Liu on the cheek. "Thank you for having the Liu family intervene and secure an invitation for the Tang family."
“...”
John Liu felt a bit puzzled.
The Liu family intervene?
He did tell his dad about this, but his father was still worrying about it. To obtain the invitation, they had given many gifts to important figures, totaling millions of dollars.
How could this have secured an invitation for the Tang family so quickly?
He was a bit confused but maintained a proud look on his face as he said, "My family intervened, and obtaining an invitation was a piece of cake."
"John Liu, thank you so much. You truly are a great grandson-in-law," Fernan Tang also realized it, and he couldn't close his mouth with a smile.
The person who sent the invitation said that he has a great grandson-in-law.
He was sure that this was John Liu, because among the several grandsons-in-law, John Liu came from the most prominent family.
"Great son-in-law, please come inside. Later, I'll prepare a big red packet for you to take back to your father to thank him for intervening and obtaining an invitation for our Tang family."
