A few minutes later, the Land Rover led the way, with the box truck trailing behind, slowly making its way towards the community where Qin's family resided.
"Commander..." Sherod Lu began hesitantly shortly after the car pulled out.
"Now that we're out of the trenches, don't call me Commander. Just call me Young Master Ling, like Fatty Shen does!" Randy Ling replied.
"Then I'll call you big brother to make us seem closer!" Sherod Lu smiled.
"Alright," Randy Ling nodded slightly and continued, "What did you want to say earlier?"
"I got a call from Capital City this morning," Sherod Lu's tone grew heavy.
"Haha, it was to be expected," Randy Ling replied calmly. "What did they say?"
"The higher-ups have criticized you for leaving your post without permission, and they're requiring you to return to the Western Region within three days," Sherod Lu took a deep breath and continued, "Otherwise, they'll strip you of your title as the King of the West." Sherod Lu hit the brakes.
"Draft a resignation letter for me and send it over. Just state that it's for personal reasons, and I'm applying to resign from all positions in the squad," Randy Ling instructed.
"Brother, that's quite a bold move!"
"If Azure Dragon and the others find out that you've resigned, they'll probably abandon their positions and follow you as soon as they can."
"That's perfect," Randy Ling replied with a calm expression.
Ga!
"Brother, are you serious?" Sherod Lu turned to look at Randy Ling.
"Do you think I'm joking?" Randy Ling glared at him.
"But..." Sherod Lu took another deep breath.
"In fact, the whole Blood Shadow troop might resign as well."
"They wouldn't dare!" Randy Ling said solemnly.
"Send a message to them and tell them to stay in the Western Region with me. Nobody leaves without my consent!"
"I resigned because I wanted to spend more time with Viola and Arabella. I owe them too much."
"On the other hand, it's precisely because of the reason you mentioned that I have no interest in that position, so let the four of them take it."
"For me, these positions are meaningless."
"The Ultimate Commander has been semi-retired for the past two years due to health reasons. The higher-ups want to select one of you five kings to take his place."
"If you resign now..."
"I've heard the old man mention this a long time ago," Randy Ling interrupted.
"He's a member of the royal family, and there are many people in the capital who support him. If he really wants to cause trouble for you, big brother, I'm worried..." Sherod Lu continued.
"There's nothing to worry about," Randy Ling interrupted again, a stern look in his eyes. "He'd better take it easy, otherwise, I don't mind blowing up his house."
"Okay," Sherod Lu's mouth twitched.
"Understood," Sherod Lu nodded thoughtfully and then spoke.
"It's been said that the person from the Central District has always had a problem with you. He's attended meetings in the capital many times and has even secretly gained the support of those from the North and South. You need to be cautious."
"Haha, he can't win without resorting to dirty tactics, so just let him be," Randy Ling smiled faintly. "He won't be able to do much."
"If you have time, give him a call and check if he's in Dongzhou. If he is, I'll go meet him," Randy Ling thought for a moment and said.
"Yes," Sherod Lu nodded in response, paused briefly, and then continued to ask, "Brother, if you resign from your position in the camp, what will happen to the Shadow Group?"
"It'll be up to the higher-ups to decide. If they want me to continue leading the Shadow Troops, I won't refuse," Randy Ling responded in a deep voice.
"By the way, how's Neil Zheng's situation in the East?" Randy Ling asked after some thought.
"Not looking good," Sherod Lu shook his head.
"After the last battle, he was severely injured by the opponent. It's said that his cultivation level has plummeted. Besides, he's getting older, so it's unlikely he'll return to his post."
"Let them investigate. They can investigate all they want," Randy Ling frowned slightly.
"A bunch of clowns who never take anything seriously. Besides playing dirty, they don't have much else to do."
"That's true. They're idle all day. If they don't do something, they'll go crazy," Sherod Lu agreed.
"If you think I'm not qualified, I can resign at any time."
"Alright," Sherod Lu nodded solemnly.
After a brief pause, he continued, "By the way, brother, I heard that someone in the capital is looking into your history."
"Daddy!"
Randy Ling and Ling Hao parked their car at the entrance of Unit 8. As soon as they stepped out of the car, they spotted a petite figure running towards Randy Ling.
"Viola, have you missed daddy?" Randy Ling bent down and picked up Viola, twirling her around several times.
After they chatted for a while, Sherod Lu drove the car into an old neighborhood.
Upon entering the community, they noticed that the outer walls of all the buildings bore the word "demolished" in large letters.
This scene had appeared in her dreams countless times.
She truly hoped that Viola could have a strong father to rely on so that she would no longer be labeled as a bastard by others.
She had been having this dream for five years.
"Of course, of course Viola misses dad," Viola's tears soaked Randy Ling's clothes.
"Dad misses Viola too," Randy Ling's eyes welled up at the same time.
Arabella Qin, who stood nearby, watched this scene, tears streaming uncontrollably.
After the two reached the car, Viola spotted the vehicle filled with toys, raised her tiny hand, rubbed her big eyes, and shouted loudly.
"Dad, are all these toys for Viola?"
"Yes," Randy Ling replied with a smile. "Do you like them, Viola?"
"Viola, dad bought you a lot of toys. Let's go see them together."
After a while, Randy Ling carried Viola in his arms and headed towards the truck behind.
"Really? Awesome! Viola has new toys," the little girl exclaimed with tears of joy.
"Brother-in-law, are you wealthy?"
When Arabella Qin heard Lucinda's comment, she had initially considered scolding her but decided against it.
Instead, she walked over, examined the pile of toys, and tugged at her lips several times.
"I like them, of course!" Viola beamed at Arabella Qin. "Mom, come and see, dad bought me lots of toys!"
At that moment, Lucinda Qin also emerged from the unit's door and hurriedly approached the back of the car.
"Oh my God!" Her mouth dropped open as she beheld the car full of toys, wide enough to fit two eggs.
Seeing the two Qin sisters, the group of people was leering lustfully.
"You must be the owners of Unit 303, right? I've been waiting for you for a long time!" the bald leader fixed his eyes on Arabella Qin.
"Dad, are they bad people? Viola is scared..." Viola clung tightly to Randy Ling as she observed the unfriendly group of individuals.
What a doting father!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
In that moment, the sound of footsteps reached them, and a dozen tattooed men approached.
"Yes," Lucinda Qin nodded and took Viola from Randy Ling's arms, leading her into the corridor.
"Don't be scared, Viola. With dad here, no one will ever bully you again," Randy Ling spoke softly, then turned to look at Lucinda Qin.
"We've purchased your house. Get the title certificate and come with us to complete the formalities!" the bald leader licked his dry lips.
"What do you mean?" Arabella Qin frowned, standing at the side.
