The four of them went straight back to the villa. Ja Jiang and the two little ones were still hungry, so they quickly devoured the food that Ava Xi had brought back.
After eating, the two kids went upstairs to take a bath. Ava Xi looked at her best friend with a meaningful expression and said, "I can't quite understand why you're avoiding Andrew Li. Didn't you have a mutual agreement to divorce? Why are you so afraid of him now? And, why did you divorce in the first place? You never told me what happened a few years ago."
Meeting her gaze, Ja Jiang hesitated for a moment before reluctantly explaining the situation at the time.
"Ja Jiang, you're really brave!" Ava Xi couldn't believe that her best friend had the courage to drug Andrew Li and secretly bear his child. "No wonder you ran away as soon as you heard Andrew Li's name today!"
Ja Jiang bit her lip bitterly and said, "I didn't want him to know about the existence of my children Hale and Harlan. Also, I was afraid that he might still hold a grudge about what I did to him with the drugs. Given his status, seeking revenge on me would be too easy. If it were just me, maybe I wouldn't be afraid of him, but now, I have two children to protect."
She chuckled self-deprecatingly and added, "Or maybe I'm overthinking it. Maybe he doesn't care about that incident at all. After all, I'm not an important person to him."
"That's not necessarily true!" Ava Xi furrowed her brows. "I have a feeling he might have recognized your voice. When he just arrived, he asked about your whereabouts. It seemed like he was here to settle scores with you!"
Upon hearing this, Ja Jiang froze for a moment, and then a sharp pain pierced her heart. It seemed that, to him, she was only a source of resentment left from that night...
Ava Xi saw her best friend looking down with a bitter expression and tried to comfort her awkwardly, "Don't worry too much. Hai City is a big city, and your work doesn't have any connection with his. You might not even run into him."
Ja Jiang nodded slightly, holding on to the same hope.
"Mama!" Suddenly, they heard the voices of the two kids.
Ja Jiang and Ava Xi quickly changed the topic and looked towards the stairs. The two kids had finished their bath, their hair still slightly damp, and their skin glistening. They each wore cow-themed pajamas and came down the stairs.
Approaching the two women, they looked up with big eyes and asked, "What are you talking about?"
Seeing how cute the kids were, Ava Xi couldn't help but forget about everything else. She crouched down and hugged them, saying, "Why are you both so adorable! Do you want to come home with Aunt Mu? Aunt Mu loves you so much!"
The kids couldn't utter a word while Ava Xi was playing with their cheeks.
Ja Jiang found it amusing and quickly rescued her two sons from her friend's clutches. Then, she remembered something else.
"I almost forgot, our return to China was so sudden, and I'll be busy with work later. I won't be able to take the kids with me, so I wanted to ask you if there's a suitable kindergarten nearby for them to attend. And we'll need to find a nanny as well."
The two kids didn't say anything upon hearing their mother's words. With their intelligence, they didn't really need to go to kindergarten. However, considering their mother's busy schedule, they would have to cooperate.
Ava Xi pondered for a moment and then said, "For kindergarten, there's a great option nearby! There's a prestigious kindergarten in this area that's well-known in Hai City. They have a rich curriculum and teach multiple languages from different countries. The teachers there are excellent, and many wealthy families try to enroll their children there. So, you don't need to worry about the kids being bullied."
Ava Xi explained.
Ja Jiang immediately responded, "Is that so? I'll look it up online. If it's suitable, I'll send them there."
