Ja Jiang suddenly froze.
The Fu family?
In her understanding, in all of Hai City, there was only one family with the surname Fu involved in the medical business.
And she just happened to have a conflict with that family.
Thinking about this, Ja Jiang furrowed her brows slightly, hoping she wouldn't be so unlucky as to encounter the person she least wanted to see.
Before long, the two of them arrived at the agreed-upon café.
The representatives from the herbal medicine company hadn't arrived yet.
Ja Jiang and Clark Gu took their seats, ordered two cups of coffee, and waited for the other party.
About fifteen minutes later, there was a knock on the private room's door.
"They're here," Clark Gu said, his spirits lifting, and he informed Ja Jiang beside him.
Ja Jiang nodded, stood up, and said, "Please come in."
Before long, the door was pushed open, and a male voice sounded, "Sorry, we're late."
Ja Jiang raised her gaze and looked forward, only to come face to face with Olivia Fu.
Ja Jiang sighed inwardly, thinking that sometimes you fear something so much that it ends up happening.
Olivia Fu, on the other hand, was wide-eyed with surprise. Her voice, raised in excitement, was slightly sharp, "You... Ja Jiang? Why is it you?"
Hadn't she disappeared a long time ago?
Why was she here?
Seeing Olivia Fu's reaction, both Clark Gu and Dave Lin were somewhat puzzled.
Clark Gu, with a friendly attitude toward their potential partner, inquired, "Do you know Dr. Ja, Ms. Fu?"
Olivia Fu's expression continued to change. "Dr. Ja?"
"This is Dr. Ja Jiang, the head of our institute, who came here specifically to show the sincerity of our research institute for today's contract signing," Clark Gu introduced.
But Olivia Fu's complexion grew even worse.
All she wanted to know was when Ja Jiang had returned!
That morning, for the first time in six years, Andrew Li had openly confessed his intention to dissolve the engagement. Was it also related to Ja Jiang's return?
Did he... already know that Ja Jiang had come back?
Or perhaps, had they already met each other?
The more Olivia Fu thought about it, the more uneasy she became. Seeing Ja Jiang in front of her, her complexion changed constantly...
In comparison to her, Ja Jiang remained much more composed, as if it were their first meeting. She lightly tugged at her lip, straightforwardly asking, "Ms. Fu, are you still interested in continuing our cooperation?"
Hearing her voice, Olivia Fu abruptly collected her thoughts, gazing intently at Ja Jiang for a few seconds. Her expression turned slightly cold, and her eyes took on a playful look. "Of course, Dr. Gu has put in so much effort for this contract. I certainly won't let his efforts go to waste."
As she finished speaking, she summoned the waiter and ordered four more cups of coffee.
During the coffee preparation time, Olivia Fu's gaze shifted slightly, casting a shadow over Ja Jiang.
Despite her unwillingness to admit it, Ja Jiang had changed a lot in these six years. Unlike her previous cautious and timid self, Ja Jiang now exuded confidence without even trying. Her beauty and aura were nearly overwhelming.
And what about her?
Six years had passed, and she remained unchanged. The person she had almost secured was now slipping through her fingers, and her hope was fading away.
Realizing this, Olivia Fu clenched her hand tightly under the table into a fist, filled with jealousy.
"I'm very interested in cooperating with your institute. However, I felt that the price we discussed earlier wasn't quite suitable. With Dr. Ja as the new head, I hope we can revisit the issue of pricing today," Olivia Fu said with a professional smile, her eyes filled with cold determination.
Upon hearing this, Clark Gu was about to speak, but Ja Jiang intercepted him and calmly asked, "Is Ms. Fu suggesting...?"
"I hope to raise the price by an additional two points from our previous agreement," Olivia Fu replied sternly.
