On the way out of the airport, Ja Jiang felt nervous, constantly looking back to check if the man was following them.
Fortunately, they didn't see that figure again until they walked out of the airport gate. Ja Jiang finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The two little ones, held by her, found it a bit strange that their mom kept looking back every few steps on the way. However, they understood that it wasn't the right time to ask questions when they saw their mom's nervousness, so they obediently followed her.
"Ja Jiang! Hale and Harlan!"
From a distance, a female voice called out. The three of them raised their heads and saw a smartly dressed woman across the street waving and walking briskly toward them.
Seeing the newcomer, Ja Jiang's tense heart gradually relaxed, and a smile appeared on her face. "Ava, long time no see!"
Ava Xi was her best friend from university and now a doctor working at her own hospital.
Ava Xi quickly reached the mother and two children, hugged her tightly, and spoke with an affectionate tone, "I finally caught up with you! I've missed you so much!"
Ja Jiang replied with a soft smile, "I missed you too."
Over the years, they had stayed in touch, but most of the time, it was online communication, and they rarely had the opportunity to meet in person.
Ava Xi gave her a tight hug and then squatted down, embracing the two little ones in her arms. "Babies, do you want an auntie?"
Hale and Harlan smiled sweetly and cutely, saying in unison, "Of course! We want to see Auntie in our dreams! Auntie is still so pretty!"
"Such sweet talk!"
Ava Xi was amused by the compliments from the two adorable kids.
Ja Jiang still felt a bit uneasy, so she glanced back at the airport entrance and casually urged, "Let's not linger here. If you have anything to discuss, we can do it later."
Ava Xi gave the cheeks of the two little ones a hearty kiss and then got up, helping Ja Jiang with their luggage. Together, they rushed away with the three of them.
At the same time, Andrew Li's tall figure appeared at the airport entrance.
"Cancel all overseas matters."
The man ordered his assistant, Barry Lu, in a cold voice.
Barry Lu nodded, "Sir, we've already expanded the search for The young lady. She's so young; she shouldn't have gone far. Please don't worry too much about the overseas work."
The young miss at home had always been the apple of their master's eye. Compared to finding her, the overseas work was of little consequence.
Andrew Li's eyes were deep and dark. He didn't say anything and walked decisively towards the Maybach at the roadside.
Soon, the car sped away.
...
An hour later, Ava Xi's car arrived at a villa area in the city called "Emperor's Residence." This was the place Ja Jiang had asked her to find just two days ago.
The four of them got out of the car, and under Ava Xi's guidance, they carried their luggage into their new home.
"It's a nice environment; I like it."
Ja Jiang was very satisfied and turned to her best friend, saying, "I didn't expect you to be so efficient."
Ava Xi raised an eyebrow without commenting. "My house is right next door. The owners of this house have all moved to Kyoto, and this side of the house is for rent. It worked out perfectly for me to find it. In the future, when we have time, we can visit each other every day."
Ja Jiang nodded with a smile.
After a quick tidy-up, it was time for dinner.
Ava Xi took the three of them out to eat.
As they arrived at the restaurant's parking lot, before the car had come to a stop, a little girl suddenly ran out from the shadows.
Seeing that they were about to collide, Ava Xi quickly slammed on the brakes, and with a trembling heart, she looked at the little girl who had already fallen to the ground outside.
Ja Jiang also felt a sense of dread and immediately turned to check on the two kids in the back seat to ensure they were okay. Then, she opened the car door and got out.
Just a step away from the front of the car, there was a little girl who appeared to be about four or five years old, sitting on the ground in a daze. It was clear that she had been frightened.
Ja Jiang's heart softened as she approached the little girl cautiously and asked gently, "Little one, are you hurt?"
The little girl had fair skin, watery eyes, a pert nose, and a delicate appearance. She was dressed in a pink princess dress, with two small braids in her hair, and was hugging a valuable-looking doll in her arms. She seemed to be a little princess from some family.
Upon hearing Ja Jiang's voice, the little girl slowly came to her senses, timidly shaking her head, still looking wary.
Seeing her like this, Ja Jiang was even more concerned. After carefully inspecting her, she confirmed that the little girl was not injured and let out a long sigh of relief. She reached out to help her up.
However, just as she reached out, she noticed that the little girl seemed to be scared and shrank back, her big eyes filled with fear.
Ja Jiang hesitated with her hand suspended in the air and reassured the little girl with a smile, "Don't be afraid, I just want to help you up."
After saying that, she looked around and couldn't help but ask, "Where are your mommy and daddy? Why are you all alone?"
The little girl clung tightly to the valuable doll in her arms and didn't speak, just shaking her head.
Ja Jiang furrowed her brows, not knowing how to communicate with her.
Ava Xi and the two kids had also gotten out of the car by this time. Seeing the little girl not saying anything for a while, Hale and Harlan exchanged puzzled glances.
"She's so cute," Hale said. "But she's not talking. Could she be mute?"
