After a moment of contemplation, William Lin looked at the old man's son and said, "Uncle, all I can say is that I solemnly swear on my father's reputation that I am doing this for the well-being of your father. If anything goes wrong, I will take full responsibility, alright?"
"What are you gonna take responsibility with? Your miserable life of yours?" the old man's daughter scolded.
Upon hearing this, William Lin lost his patience and immediately used his hand like a blade, striking the old man's daughter's neck, and causing her to faint instantly.
"Believe me, if you don't trust me, you can call an ambulance right now," William said, glancing at the people present.
The old man's son looked at William with a resolute expression and nodded, despite not fully understanding why. There was an inexplicable sense of trust in William's eyes.
With the help of the others, William removed the old man's upper garment. Due to the old man's age, William began by applying a hot towel to stimulate the pores and enhance the treatment's effectiveness.
After a short while, William removed the hot towel and took out the silver needle, beginning the acupuncture procedure. As the silver needle penetrated the old man's body, it turned pitch black.
William used his spiritual energy to seal off the old man's blood vessels, then channeled energy through the needle to gradually force the toxins out of the old man's body. He then removed the silver needle, rinsed it, and inserted it again, this time into acupuncture points like Hegu to boost metabolism.
By using his spiritual energy, William accelerated the old man's metabolic rate. Finally, after completing all these steps, he let out a slow sigh of relief.
Just as he was about to remove the silver needle again, the old man suddenly woke up, coughing violently.
Confused, the old man looked around at the people surrounding him and asked, "Why are you all standing here?"
"Dad, do you remember what happened?" his son asked urgently.
The old man looked at his son, puzzled. "What happened? Didn't I just take a nap?"
His son shook his head and began recounting the events.
After hearing his son's account, the old man seemed skeptical. "Really?"
His son nodded quickly. "You can ask them!"
The people standing nearby all nodded in agreement.
Grateful for the help, the old man turned to William and said, "Young Lin, thank you so much. I'm sorry to trouble you with my old bones. Your father would be proud of the person you've become."
William waved it off. "It's nothing, grandpa. Your kindness to my father in the past was something I can never forget."
Observing that his father now seemed completely fine, the old man's son glanced at William Lin. Though he didn't speak, his eyes were silently asking William Lin if he could explain what had just happened.
William Lin cleared his throat, thought for a moment, and then began to explain, "Here's what happened. I knew about my grandfather's big birthday celebration. Back when I was in Jiang City, I consulted a master who told me that there was a potentially life-threatening event in my grandfather's destiny this time. However, if he could overcome this ordeal, he would live a long and healthy life until he reached a hundred."
"I happened to learn some basic massage techniques from an old traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in Jiang City. The hand techniques I used earlier to massage my grandfather were what I learned from that experience. Even if I had mentioned that someone had foretold my grandfather's life-threatening situation, I doubt anyone would have believed it."
As William Lin explained, the people around nodded in agreement. In modern times, superstitious beliefs like fortune-telling are no longer widely accepted.
William Lin looked at his grandfather with deep appreciation and said, "Grandfather, you've really gone out of your way for me. I have nothing to offer in return. I don't know how to repay you."
William Lin chuckled and replied, "Grandfather, there's no need for you to say that."
Grandfather waved his hand and said, "Alright, I won't insist then."
Then, William Lin leaned in closer to his grandfather and whispered a few words in his ear. Grandfather's expression changed abruptly as if he had understood something profound. He then sighed deeply, wearing a bitter look.
William Lin then asked for some paper and a pen from his grandfather's son, quickly jotting down a prescription. He instructed, "Follow this prescription, take it three times a day, preferably within half an hour to an hour after meals."
Although William Lin had managed to force the toxins out of Grandfather's body in a very short time, there were still trace amounts that had infiltrated his organs. These could only be naturally expelled through Grandfather's metabolism.
While this wasn't a major issue, it was still better to eliminate them as soon as possible. The reason William Lin didn't forcibly remove the toxins from Grandfather's organs was not due to inability but because his current strength wasn't sufficient. Using his current level of spiritual power to forcibly remove the toxins would have been detrimental to his own health.
Observing Grandfather's condition, William Lin spoke, "I believe you already know who was behind this. I won't dwell on it any longer. I shouldn't interfere further. I'll take my leave now."
After saying this, he walked toward the exit.
Just as Grandfather's son was about to follow and see him off, Grandfather stopped him and instructed him on something important, so he asked a few others to accompany William Lin instead. They expressed their gratitude and escorted him outside the gate, watching him as he departed.
"This child is truly remarkable, repaying grievances with kindness. We feel ashamed."
"Indeed, if only Old Lin were still alive to see this, he'd probably laugh himself awake from such a dream!"
Meanwhile, not far away on a hilltop, Luca Zhang was using binoculars to observe Grandfather's house. When he saw William Lin leaving, he furrowed his brow, lost in thought.
...
William Lin hurriedly returned home and found Susan and his mother chatting happily. They bombarded him with questions upon his return.
William Lin briefly recounted the events to the two of them.
"Is it true?" His mother looked at William Lin in disbelief after hearing his story.
"It's true. Why would I lie to my own mother?" William Lin replied with irritation.
"Alright, alright. I believe you. This matter will probably become gossip soon enough. You don't need to worry about it. Let's focus on curing my illness," his mother said, trying to change the subject.
William Lin knew his mother's personality well. Once she started gossiping, it would be endless, and he didn't want to spend the night sleepless. So he urged his mother to focus on her treatment.
Hearing her son's insistence, Susan joined in, and his mother reluctantly agreed to start the treatment.
During the treatment, William Lin experienced dizziness and exhaustion several times. His spiritual power consumption was too high, and his body couldn't handle it well.
Susan noticed his condition but couldn't express her concern openly, especially with William Lin's mother present. She knew that if she mentioned it, William Lin's mother wouldn't allow him to exert himself further for her sake.
After the treatment was completed, Susan finally had a chance to check on William Lin. She helped his mother into the bedroom and then gently placed William Lin on the bed before settling herself on the sofa.
Early the next morning, William Lin's mother woke up and found Susan on the sofa. She became furious and started banging on William Lin's bedroom door.
