Susan Su returned to the hotel and approached Caleb Li, who was still in the lobby.
Seeing Susan Su return, Caleb Li immediately greeted her with respect. "Miss Susan."
Susan Su gave Caleb Li a cold glance. Her tone was no longer as gentle as when she spoke with William Lin. She said, "I told you to call me by my name. Don't call me anything else."
Caleb Li nodded quickly in acknowledgment.
"Good, at least you're smart enough to remember. Listen, don't tell my father about what happened tonight. If my whereabouts are exposed, I'll make you understand the meaning of obedience," Susan Su commanded in a commanding tone.
Caleb Li had initially thought about reporting to the clan head to gain favor, but upon hearing Susan Su's words, he completely abandoned that idea.
After speaking, Susan Su took the bag that Caleb Li had prepared in advance and walked away.
Susan Su drove William Lin home, and on the way, William Lin kept thanking her.
Upon arriving at the apartment, William Lin thanked Susan Su profusely once again in front of his door.
Susan Su waved her hand dismissively, her expression showing signs of fatigue. She said, "No need to thank me so much. If we can't help each other, what kind of friends would we be?"
"Alright, alright, rest early. You still have an injury on your head!" Susan Su said with a yawn before turning to leave.
Just as Susan Su turned to leave, William Lin suddenly felt that something was amiss. He quickly stopped Susan Su.
Susan Su looked at William Lin in confusion.
Indeed, William Lin hadn't been mistaken earlier. There was a faint, ominous cloud above Susan Su's forehead, and her eyes had a hint of bloodshot veins.
According to the traditions he had learned, these were signs of bad luck and impending disasters. William Lin didn't know how to bring it up and stumbled over his words, "Uh, I, uh..."
Seeing William Lin struggling to speak, Susan Su raised an eyebrow and said, "What's wrong? If you don't say it, I'm going to bed."
Hearing Susan Su's words, William Lin carefully said, "It's just that, you see, I've learned some face-reading techniques from a wandering Taoist in my childhood. It seems that Miss Susan may encounter some bad luck in the next few days, with signs of impending disaster. Please be careful."
Susan Su burst into laughter. "I thought you were quite straightforward, but I didn't expect you to use these old tricks."
William Lin, looking at Susan Su's skeptical expression, quickly explained, "I'm serious. When I was a child, I learned some of these techniques from a wandering Taoist. I hope Miss Susan takes it seriously."
Seeing William Lin's earnest expression, which didn't seem like a joke, Susan Su nodded in agreement, as if she had understood. Then, she bid him goodnight and entered her own room.
As William Lin watched Susan Su enter her room next door, he also went into his own room and began tidying up the clutter. It was close to midnight when he finally finished organizing everything, and he sat down on his bed. He began practicing as per the methods he remembered.
In the middle of the night, everyone was asleep, except for two who were extremely excited.
Simon Li paced back and forth in the spacious living room. At the hospital, they couldn't find any information except that someone named Susan had paid the medical bills. This Susan was a nurse at the hospital, but they couldn't find any other relevant information. All they could do now was wait for updates from their subordinates.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, an elderly man in Confucian robes repeatedly watched the surveillance footage. When he returned in the afternoon and heard about the surveillance, he decided to investigate.
After watching the footage repeatedly, the elderly man trembled and muttered to himself, "I can't believe it's the Nine Recover Needle!"
As morning arrived, William Lin, who had been practicing throughout the night, felt no fatigue whatsoever. He had even noticed that he could multitask while practicing. During breaks in his training, he had also started to study the Emperor Immortal's legacy.
After getting out of bed, William Lin stretched and found that his body felt exceptionally comfortable. He went to the bathroom, removed the bandage from his head, and discovered that there were no scars left. It seemed that his body's functions had undergone a significant improvement.
Looking at his reflection in the mirror, William Lin took extra care to groom himself. From today onwards, he was no longer the same person he used to be.
After having a light breakfast, William Lin headed to the largest traditional Chinese medicine shop in Jiang City, known as the "Hall King of Medicine." It had a reputation for over three to four hundred years and was well-known throughout the country.
The previous night, while studying the legacy, William Lin had thought about the best way to treat his mother's chronic illness. He realized that, due to her accumulated health issues and her old age, acupuncture might not be suitable for her.
So he had come up with a prescription that could initially clear some of the hidden dangers in her body. After her body's functions improved, they could proceed with acupuncture, but it would be a slower process.
Entering Hall King of Medicine, William Lin observed that it truly lived up to its reputation. Even in the early morning, there were already many people queuing up.
William Lin joined the queue patiently.
After more than half an hour, it was finally his turn. William Lin took out the prescription he had prepared in advance and was about to hand it to the shop assistant when a middle-aged woman, overweight and weighing more than a hundred pounds, rushed over and pushed him aside.
? ? ?
What's going on? Can people really cut in line like this?
William Lin tapped the woman on the shoulder and said, "Excuse me, but I've been waiting for over half an hour."
The woman turned around to look at William Lin with a disdainful expression and replied, "So what? I'm cutting in line, and that's a sign of respect for you. Do you have any idea who I am?"
At this point, the shop assistants watched the situation with concern, hoping that William Lin would leave quickly. This woman was notorious in the area for her domineering behavior. She took advantage of her wealthy husband's status and acted arrogantly everywhere she went.
Seeing that William Lin was staring at her but not saying anything, the woman became even more agitated. She pointed her finger at his nose and yelled, "What's the matter? Don't like it? Want to fight me? Coward! How could someone like you even exist?"
William Lin had initially intended to maintain a civil discourse, but the situation quickly escalated beyond reason, He had reached a breaking point. While he could endure personal insults and choose to remain composed, insulting his mother was too much.
Without hesitation, William Lin grabbed the woman's arm and executed a swift judo-style throw, leveraging his agility and technique. With seemingly effortless grace, he sent the two-hundred-pound woman sprawling to the ground.
"Help! Murderer!" The obese woman immediately launched into a melodramatic spectacle, rolling on the floor and wailing in agony.
Observing William Lin's decisive actions, a female store clerk hurried over and whispered discreetly, "You should leave promptly; otherwise, you might regret it later."
William Lin responded with calm assurance, "No worries, we don't go looking for trouble, but we're not afraid to stand our ground when it finds us."
The women wailed and shouted, but they realized that no one was paying any attention to them. So, they had no choice but to support their bulky bodies and stand up.
With a disgusted expression on her face, she glared at William Lin and said, "Alright! You dare to hit me, just wait and see." Then, she pointed at the female clerk next to William Lin and continued, "You, you little slut, are you his mistress? You hit someone and now you want him to leave? Both of you just wait for me."
After saying that, she stood directly in front of the door, afraid that William Lin might slip away. She then took out her phone and immediately made a call, sobbing as she spoke!
