"Ouch!" The scalper fell hard. "Who the heck kicked me, boss?"
"Shut up!" The boss gave him a stern look, then grinned at Allen Chen and said, "Hey, buddy, it's all a misunderstanding!"
"Weren't you just talking about roughing me up a moment ago?" Allen Chen said with a smile.
The boss chuckled, "How could we do that?"
"Brother, here's my contact info. Whenever you're interested in concerts, plays, or anything, give me a call. I promise you'll get a good deal."
"Charging for it?" Allen Chen asked with a smile.
The boss immediately said, "Brother, how can I ask for your money?"
"No, not a penny!"
"Okay, I'll give you a call later if I think about it," Allen Chen accepted the business card.
The boss breathed a sigh of relief. "Brothers, please take your time and have a pleasant trip."
"Boss, why the sudden change?" Watching them walk away, the scalper rubbed his rear end, quite puzzled.
The boss scolded with a stern face, "Stop talking nonsense! You all need to be more alert!"
"If you ever mess with this guy again, don't blame me for using ruthless methods!"
"Yes, boss," a group of scalpers nodded. Their fear grew because they didn't quite understand the situation.
In the car, Layla Li asked in confusion, "The boss seemed like he wanted to fight just now. How did his attitude change so suddenly?"
"What did you show them?"
"Team Leader Tang's contact number," Allen Chen smiled.
Layla Li said in surprise, "Can they recognize it?"
"Can't say for sure about the others, but that boss definitely knew," Allen Chen smiled and continued, "He must have figured out I'm not just from the Public Security Bureau. Maybe he has some dealings with them."
"For a character like Team Leader Tang, they dare not offend her."
"I see now," Layla Li suddenly realized and looked at him with admiration. "You're really smart."
"A man doesn't want to be praised for being smart," Allen Chen smiled at her.
Layla Li asked, "What should I praise?"
"Awesome."
"Allen Chen, you are awesome?" Layla Li tried it out.
Before the words could even be finished, she suddenly realized and blushed. "You tricked me!"
"Hahaha!" Allen Chen laughed, "Am I not awesome?"
"How would I know?"
"How could you not know? How about we try it?" Allen Chen asked with a smile.
Layla Li's heart skipped a beat. "Don't be silly. Drive safely. Grace is still waiting for me to return."
"Okay, no more joking," Allen Chen looked at the Tianmei Courtyard ahead and became serious. "Do you want me to take you in?"
"No need," Layla Li shook her head. She was worried that if Allen Chen went in, it might add more unpredictable factors.
She wasn't sure if their passion would rekindle after she got Grace to sleep.
It was already late at night.
If they got carried away again, no one would be able to stop them.
Although she was willing to have a relationship, she was not ready for it so soon.
Allen Chen understood her thoughts and said, "Alright, you go in quickly."
"I'll take a taxi back."
"You can use this," Layla Li said, "I have more than one car."
"That won't do," Allen Chen shook his head and walked towards the street.
Looking at his back, Layla Li had a faint smile on her face. "Be careful on the road. Remember to text me when you get home safely."
"Of course," Allen Chen flagged down a taxi and waved goodbye.
As soon as he got back home, he saw several people sitting on the sofa.
Nora Bai immediately stood up and walked towards him with a smile on her face. "Allen Chen, you're back. It's been a hard day's work, right?"
"Sit down and rest. Let me pour you some tea."
"Brother-in-law, please take a seat," Hank Bai, who was sitting on the other side, immediately stood up and smiled.
The two people sitting next to them were none other than his father-in-law and mother-in-law.
His father-in-law, John Bai, was an honest and hardworking man throughout his life, never smoking or drinking. He was the most understanding person in this family when it came to Allen Chen.
Looking at the time, John Bai said, "I heard you've been working late and working overtime frequently. You must be tired. Take a seat and rest."
"Dad," Allen Chen nodded and smiled as he sat down. "Why are you all here today?"
"Well..." John Bai smiled, looking a little embarrassed.
His mother-in-law, Evelyn Tan, said, "Last time, you promised to give Hank Bai a hundred thousand to buy a house. When are you going to deliver it?"
"Hasn't it been delivered?" Allen Chen looked surprised. "Mom, it's been several days, right?"
"That's right!" Evelyn Tan was stunned for a moment. "What, you sent the money over?"
"I asked Nora Bai to send it that day," Allen Chen looked at Nora Bai and said. "Why haven't you sent the money yet?"
"Daughter, what's going on? Your brother is waiting for that money to buy a house and get married! There can't be any mistakes!" When Evelyn Tan heard this, she immediately looked at Nora Bai unhappily.
Hank Bai also said, "Sister, whether I can get married this time depends on this one hundred thousand. Please don't ruin it."
"Me!" Nora Bai's expression changed. "Mom, don't get me wrong!"
"Allen Chen was talking nonsense last time. How could I have one hundred thousand of private money?"
"Allen Chen, you're not clarifying this?"
"What should I clarify?" Allen Chen said innocently, "You really have that much money. You can't expect me to lie to your parents, right?"
"Stop making things up! When did I have that much money? Did you give it to me?" Nora Bai said angrily.
Allen Chen immediately said, "Stop pretending. I've heard it all. You have a close relationship with the bank president, and this time, with the bonus, you must have at least five hundred thousand."
"Just taking out one hundred thousand to buy a house for your brother is just a small part of it for you. Is it necessary to be so selfish?"
"Five hundred thousand?" Evelyn Tan and Hank Bai immediately became excited.
Evelyn Tan grabbed Nora Bai's arm and said, "Daughter, I gave birth to you and raised you. Now that you are prosperous, you must not forget your mother!"
"Mom, I really don't have that money. It's all Allen Chen's nonsense..." Nora Bai said angrily.
But before she finished speaking, Allen Chen took out his phone and said, "Honey, you can't hide the truth. In your bank's promotional posters, you and the bank president seem very close. Anyone can see it."
"Is this the treatment a regular employee should receive?"
"Oh, come on, daughter, you're standing right next to the bank president," Evelyn Tan noticed and became even more convinced. "Allen Chen, what is my daughter's current position?"
"I'm not sure about this," Allen Chen said with a smile. "But I've heard that the bank president makes several hundred million a year. Even if she's not at that level, she should be making at least a million a year, right?"
"What's ten thousand to her then?" Evelyn Tan was shocked and then said angrily.
"Mom, I..."
"Sister, do you want to prevent me from getting married?" Hank Bai said quickly.
Nora Bai’s face turned red with anger, but she couldn't explode. "Fine, I'll give it."
"But Allen Chen, you’re his brother-in-law. Why don't you show some support?"
