"Oh? Where?" Allen Chen asked curiously.
Bin City, Ever-Bright City!
Even late at night, this place is still brilliantly lit up with neon lights, vibrant and spectacular. The lively atmosphere and the smell of fireworks are everywhere, and the streets are bustling with people.
"Brother Chen, that barbecue place over there is fantastic. I guarantee that after you try it, you'll never forget it for the rest of your life," Joe Wang said loudly, pointing to a barbecue shop with flickering red lights.
Allen Chen nodded and walked towards it.
Just a few steps in, a man in a suit at a table lifted his head, looked at Allen Chen with a puzzled expression, and then, surprised, said, "Allen Chen?"
"Um?" Allen Chen turned his head to look, also surprised. "Daniel Zhang?"
"Oh my god, it really is you, Allen Chen!" Daniel Zhang exclaimed in surprise, quickly walking over to him and excitedly grabbing his arm. "My goodness, you've lost a lot of weight. You were so robust back in school."
"You too, with dark circles under your eyes," Allen Chen observed with surprise and excitement.
Daniel Zhang was much thinner, pale, with dark eyes, obviously from staying up too late.
He used to be a head shorter than Allen Chen in high school. After several years without seeing each other, he still looked about the same. "I never thought we'd meet again."
"Me neither. What are you doing here, just finished work?" Allen Chen asked with a smile.
Daniel Zhang's face showed a bitter smile. "Not even midnight yet. How can I be off work? I'm entertaining a client."
"Where's your client?" Allen Chen glanced at the spot where he had come from, now empty.
Daniel Zhang sighed. "Went to the restroom."
"Well then, let's exchange contact information. I'll call you after I finish with my client."
"Sure." Allen Chen nodded, took out his phone, and exchanged contact information.
Daniel Zhang was about to chat more when he caught a glimpse of a slick-looking young man coming over. He hurried to greet him with a smile, "Mr. Sun, are you okay?"
"What do you mean by that?" Mr. Sun frowned, glaring at him unhappily.
"Just caring about you, Mr. Sun."
"I'm perfectly fine, don't need your concern."
"Yes, I spoke out of turn," Daniel Zhang said with an embarrassed smile.
Mr. Sun snorted, "Then why don't you slap yourself until your face swells?"
"I..."
"What, you won't do it? Then forget it!" Mr. Sun turned to leave.
"No, Mr. Sun, wait. I'll do it," Daniel Zhang hastily said.
He then slapped his face a few times. "Is this okay?"
"Humph, at least you know your place. You recognize who is in charge," Mr. Sun said proudly, laughing and pointing at the liquor on the table. "It's getting late; don't waste stuff."
"Drink it all up."
"Yes," Daniel Zhang's face turned pale. He had already drunk quite a lot, and there were still three or four bottles on the table. It was hard to swallow.
But to seal the deal, he grabbed a bottle and chugged it, nearly fainting from the pain.
After he had finished the liquor, Daniel Zhang turned his head to see Mr. Sun yawning and then getting into a car by the street.
"Mr. Sun, what about the contract?" he asked.
"I'm busy. Let's talk about it next time," Mr. Sun said without even looking at him.
Daniel Zhang's face was filled with bitterness, and his eyes reddened with grievance. "Mr. Sun, I've been with you for seven or eight days. I even got a bleeding stomach from drinking so much. You said you'd give me the order tonight, you..."
"What are you implying? Did I force you to drink?" Mr. Sun immediately glared at him coldly. "A bleeding stomach, what does that have to do with me!"
"No, Mr. Sun, what I meant was..."
"But that's exactly what you mean! Stop giving me excuses. I really can't stand people like you, acting like drinking a bit of alcohol is some great feat," Mr. Sun said coldly. "I'm telling you, I don't even want to sign with you anymore. Just get lost!"
"You, you!" Daniel Zhang was shaking with anger.
"Humph!" Mr. Sun said. "People like you will never succeed. Better just go home and rest!"
With that, he was about to step on the gas pedal.
Suddenly, a hand shot out, grabbing his car door. Allen Chen looked at him and said, "Get out."
"What do you think you're doing?" Mr. Sun frowned. "I'd advise you not to meddle, or you'll regret it. Understand?"
"Why so heated? I'm just asking you to get out and pay for your meal," Allen Chen tapped on the car door. "Get out."
"What meal money? This guy invited me, why should I pay?" Mr. Sun was annoyed.
"How can you prove he invited you?" Allen Chen asked with a smile.
"I..."
"Shall I call the police?" Allen Chen took out his phone, pretending to dial.
Mr. Sun panicked immediately. "Wait! It's just the money for a meal, what's the big deal? How much? Just tell me the amount."
"It's not just for one meal, but for seven days," Allen Chen, having heard their earlier conversation, said with a smile. "Daniel Zhang, calculate it properly. How much in total?"
"Ah? Yes, yes." Daniel Zhang snapped back to reality.
"Ten thousand and two, split evenly, six thousand!"
"How much did you say?" Mr. Sun, just about to pull out his wallet, suddenly changed his expression. "Six thousand? Did I eat that much?"
"You ate even more," Daniel Zhang said through gritted teeth. "Especially that time at Buckingham, just for the hostesses, it cost eight hundred and eighty!"
"Pay up, Mr. Sun!"
"Jeez! You're so stingy. Just for this little money, how can you have the nerve to ask me for it?" Mr. Sun looked disgusted.
"If you think it's such a trivial amount, why not just pay up quickly?" Allen Chen said, amused.
"You!"
"Do you really want me to call the police?" Allen Chen stared at him coldly.
Seeing Allen Chen's sudden change from laughter to sternness, Mr. Sun's heart skipped a beat, realizing he was dealing with a tough one. "Damn it, bring the contract."
"The contract? Mr. Sun, are you saying you want to sign with me?" Daniel Zhang looked utterly surprised.
"Cut the crap!" Mr. Sun said irritably.
"Here's the contract." Daniel Zhang quickly produced a contract, his face lighting up with joy.
Getting a commission from the contract was naturally more beneficial than a few days' worth of expenses, and it would also help his performance.
But for Mr. Sun, signing the contract had its perks too. He didn't have to pay for the meals. It's a double win.
Putting the pen away, Mr. Sun said sullenly, "Happy now?"
"Hap..."
"Let's settle the bill for the meal as well," Allen Chen interrupted Daniel Zhang.
Mr. Sun angrily said, "You're being ridiculous! I've signed, and you still dare ask for meal money?"
"Try not paying," Allen Chen said.
Mr. Sun gritted his teeth, "Fine, fine, you're really something! Here's six thousand, dare to take it."
"Why wouldn't I?" Allen Chen took the cash directly and said with a smile, "Mr. Sun, have a safe trip."
