"How dare you!" Mr. Sun's eyes were nearly bulging out of his head in anger, his face turning bright red. "Stay right there if you dare!"
"What, is Mr. Sun planning to go to the bank to get more money for me?" Allen Chen asked with a smile.
Mr. Sun's face turned dark and gloomy. "Just you wait, young man!"
With a roar, he slammed on the gas and sped away.
"Allen Chen, thank you for helping me. But aren't you getting yourself into big trouble doing this?" Daniel Zhang looked at him gratefully, worry evident in his eyes.
"Who wants trouble in their life? But some people have to cause it," Allen Chen said with a smile.
"But..."
"Stop worrying about everything. You've had enough unhappy days for over a decade. Do you plan to live like this for decades more?" Allen Chen said, putting his arm around him like they were close brothers back in high school. "How many decades does a person live anyway?"
"Maybe until seventy?" sighed Daniel Zhang.
"Exactly, just seventy years. You're retired by your fifties or sixties. What's the point of living unhappily?" Allen Chen said.
"Come on, I'll introduce you to a friend."
"What friend?" Daniel Zhang smiled, then quickly asked, "Who was that beautiful woman earlier?"
He had noticed Ava Liu earlier but was caught up with meeting an old friend and attending to a client.
Now, with some free time, he couldn't help but be curious.
"My woman!" Allen Chen laughed.
"Holy cow! Really?" Daniel Zhang was so shocked he nearly dropped his jaw. "You're impressive! How did you manage to get with such a beauty, better looking than a car show model?"
"Teach me your ways, brother."
"It's simple, just one word: sincerity!"
"What?"
"Sincerity is key. To put it in eight words: 'Be sincere to people, and you'll be rewarded.'" Allen Chen smiled.
Daniel Zhang was confused. "Your words are making my head spin."
"Let's move on," Allen Chen said, leading him to a simple dining table.
Joe Wang asked, "Brother Allen, is everything okay?"
"All good. This is my high school buddy, Daniel Zhang," Allen Chen introduced. "This is Brother Joe and Ava Liu."
"Nice to meet you all."
"Brother Joe, Sister Liu, hello," Daniel Zhang said, reaching out his hand with a smile.
Joe Wang shook his hand. "No need to be formal, Brother Daniel. Have a seat."
Ava Liu hesitated, glanced at Allen Chen, and then shook his hand. "Mr. Zhang, do you also work in sales?"
"Yeah, I'm at a small-to-medium firm, Jianping Affairs," Daniel Zhang said with a wry smile. "I've got a manager position, but it's nothing compared to your big company."
He noticed their company uniforms, understanding their company was way above his in terms of class.
After all, Ruian was a group.
Even division workers had uniforms costing at least several hundred yuan. Although buying your own was better, but most companies used cheap suits costing tens of yuan.
As a manager, Ava Liu's uniform was even more expensive, at least four thousand yuan. Definitely high-end.
"Looks like you're not happy with your job?" Allen Chen asked him.
"Ah, who really enjoys their work? Aren't we all just making a living?" Daniel Zhang sighed in frustration, instinctively grabbing a beer and gulping it down.
He immediately choked, his face contorting. "Cough, cough!"
The tall man started crying. "It's my fault. I'm powerless, poor, and can't even stand up when my mom gets hit!"
"Allen Chen, I'm such a loser!"
"You said who gets hit?" Allen Chen's eyes turned cold.
Daniel Zhang shook all over, pointing at himself. "I was right there at the door. I watched them hit my mom and couldn't say a word!"
He cried louder, his expression growing more twisted in self-hatred, his veins bulging.
"Where are the people who hit Auntie?" Allen Chen asked sternly, holding the beer bottle.
Daniel Zhang shook his head, regaining some sense. "Sorry, I lost it there. Don't take it seriously."
"I have to," Allen Chen said. "Back in school, I ate breakfast at your place through high school. Auntie's so kind. Whoever bullies her, I won't stand for it."
"Thanks, Allen Chen, but really, no need," said Daniel Zhang, now regretting his emotional outburst.
He didn’t want to cause trouble for Allen Chen.
He stood up, ready to leave.
But at that moment, Mr. Sun returned with a group.
"Oh no!" Daniel Zhang's face changed. "That guy's back with people."
"Let's run."
Allen Chen glanced over and couldn't help but laugh. "Don't be scared. Let's see how I handle this guy!"
"Damn, you've got guts! You really didn't run!" Mr. Sun came over, pulling an angry face, and looked at Allen Chen coldly.
Then, out of the corner of his eye, he glanced quickly, and his eyes suddenly heated up with interest. "Is this girl your girlfriend?"
"So what if she is?" Allen Chen smiled.
Mr. Sun smirked lasciviously. "Kid, you're lucky today. Leave your girl to entertain me, and I'll let you off. Do you understand?"
"I understand your mother!" Allen Chen grabbed a beer bottle and smashed it on his head.
"Ah!"
Mr. Sun screamed, covering his head, bloodied and furious. "You dare hit me?"
"Kill him!" he ordered.
"Run!" Daniel Zhang grabbed Allen Chen's hand, ready to flee.
He started to run, but Allen Chen pulled him back. "Allen Chen, what are you doing?"
"Look, this is how you should act. Don’t think about useless things. Do what needs to be done, or you deserve what happens to you!" Allen Chen looked at him thoughtfully, then grabbed another bottle and smashed it hard on Mr. Sun’s head.
"Bastard, who are you trying to kill?"
"Ah!" Mr. Sun screamed as he fell to the ground, his head covered in blood. "You, you!"
"What are you all standing there for? I'm not paying you to watch a show!"
"Sorry, Mr. Sun, we can’t take this job," said the tattoo-covered man, looking bitter.
These guys were none other than Mike's underlings Allen Chen had dealt with earlier today!
The leaders were the twin brothers. Looking into Allen Chen’s eyes, they were visibly shaking, seemingly recalling the pain of getting their heads smashed.
"Brother, we didn't know it was you before. Otherwise, we wouldn't have come at all. This meal’s on us, okay?"
"What are your names?" Allen Chen asked them.
"I’m Wade, and he’s Weston. We've been hanging out with Brother Mike since we were fourteen or fifteen," Wade said with an awkward smile. "Today’s incident was a misunderstanding."
"Brother Mike has already said that none of us should mess with you. Really, can you let us go?"
