LM is a global fashion design company, and the brand originated in country Y. In the domestic market, they previously had only standalone stores, and the domestic headquarters was established only five years ago. It is said that the establishment of the domestic headquarters is entirely due to their global chief designer, Olivia Xia, whose artistic name is Riley. This is also why people like Meryl Chu are so respectful of Olivia Xia.
LM is currently recruiting for the positions of Chief Assistant, Designer, and two Assistant Designers. The Chief Assistant position is for Olivia Xia's assistant. This is why Olivia Xia came for the interview in person, and it's the reason she came alone to have a look first. The company is hiring four people, but there are over a thousand applicants. Only around fifty to sixty people were able to secure an interview. This shows how competitive LM's recruitment process is.
About ten minutes before the formal interviews were scheduled to begin, the waiting room was already filled with people. Some, who were more nervous, even paced back and forth in the corridor, trying to boost their confidence.
When Olivia Xia lazily approached with a document in hand, she inevitably attracted the attention of some. After all, almost everyone who came to interview at LM arrived at least half an hour early to wait for their turn. Olivia Xia, arriving almost exactly on time and dressed casually as if she were out for a walk, was seen as unconventional. Some even looked at her with mocking expressions and disdain.
As she passed by a girl who was retouching her makeup, the girl accidentally dropped her mineral water bottle with a loud "clatter," which also hit the foot of the person next to her. The person immediately frowned and looked at the girl with a questioning gaze. To their surprise, when she raised her head, she saw Olivia Xia standing next to her. She immediately got annoyed and said, "Hey, you knocked over my water bottle."
Olivia Xia was taken aback and responded, "It wasn't me."
"You won't even help me pick it up, and you're denying it?" She then turned to the girl who was hit and smiled ingratiatingly, "I'm sorry, Leah. I just got bumped into a moment ago. Are you okay?"
After saying that, she knelt down and gently massaged the girl's foot, saying, "What a beautiful foot; how can we let it get hurt?"
Leah Wu's vanity was greatly satisfied, and she straightened her high-end professional suit. She glanced at Olivia Xia and said, "You can't even apologize after knocking someone's water bottle over. Has LM lowered its hiring standards?"
Olivia Xia frowned, and the other girl sneered, "Anyone without manners and who dresses inappropriately for an interview is disrespectful to the company. People with such low quality can even get interviews at LM now?"
The girl who had dropped the bottle immediately nodded in agreement, "LM is a place where talent speaks, but there are always people trying to use connections. Unfortunately, it won't work. Those who can make it through in the end are definitely strong candidates, just like you, Leah."
Leah Wu was one of the strongest and most prestigious candidates in this interview. She not only had a trendy and fashionable appearance but also exuded an air of sophistication, clearly belonging to a well-off family.
She attracted the attention and admiration of many as soon as she entered the waiting room, and people approached her for conversation and compliments. However, there was one person, Nora He, who seemed to be ignored by Leah Wu.
Leah Wu covered her mouth with a smile and said, "I can't confirm that yet, but LM won't keep those who are just trying to take advantage."
"Leah, you're being too modest. With your qualifications, you're sure to successfully apply for the Chief Assistant position this time and follow Non-Zong to conquer the world," Nora He said with admiration.
Leah Wu smiled modestly, "Don't say that. Everyone here has their own strengths. Let's compete fairly and support each other."
Leah Wu immediately gained the favor of many people, and a group of people surrounded her, offering more compliments. Some even took the opportunity to criticize Olivia Xia, saying that she lacked self-awareness, didn't wear proper attire for an interview, and had low manners. They speculated that she must be from a rural area and questioned her audacity in applying to the country's top fashion design company, suggesting that it was Fish Leong who gave her the courage.
Amidst the laughter and mockery from the people around her, Olivia Xia remained calm. Leah Wu gracefully responded, "Fortunately, I'm fine. Let's not dwell on this, no need to make a big deal out of it."
With that statement, Leah Wu received more praise from the surrounding group.
At this moment, the girl who had been standing in front of Nora He all along, close to Olivia Xia, blushed, tightly held her resume, and as if she had summoned all her courage, she boldly declared, "Actually, you've misunderstood. That water bottle was not knocked over by this young lady."
The previously noisy hallway suddenly fell silent.
Nora He sneered, "What do you mean by that?"
The young girl's face turned bright red, and she stammered, "I'm telling the truth. I saw it all. The water bottle was knocked over by you, not by this young lady. She didn't even touch it."
"Heh, you say it wasn't her, so it wasn't? Did you knock it over then?" Nora He's face darkened, and her tone was sharp, clearly warning the girl not to interfere.
However, the girl, who appeared delicate but unyielding, didn't back down. She even raised her chin and said, "I not only saw it, but I also recorded it. I was just recording a video for my brother, and I captured the entire incident."
The scene fell silent again.
Olivia Xia watched the young girl with amusement. She had a baby face, and while her clothing wasn't particularly flashy, it was all high-end. She exuded a quiet luxury and an air of determination. She appeared fragile on the outside but strong on the inside.
"So, what are you trying to say?" Nora He was furious, her face contorted.
The girl, who had just managed to draw some attention by approaching Leah Wu, didn't back down and replied firmly, "My brother said that people who make mistakes should apologize. The young lady didn't do anything wrong, so she doesn't need to apologize. You made a mistake and should bravely admit it and apologize."
"Heh, so, if you say I'm wrong, I'm wrong? With so many eyes here, do you have the ability to show the video?" Nora He was losing her patience and, in a low voice that only the two of them could hear, she threatened, "I warn you, don't stir up trouble, or you won't be able to live in Jianglin."
The girl shrank her neck, recalling what her brother had told her before the interview. She bit her lip, struggling with her decision.
Olivia Xia lowered her head and quickly manipulated her phone, and suddenly, a video appeared on the large screen in the waiting room.
She furrowed her brow, then raised her eyes to look at the camera positioned behind her with a subtle smile.
Someone with sharp eyes was the first to spot the video and exclaimed, "Look, it really wasn't the country bumpkin who knocked over the bottle."
Nora He's face abruptly changed.
Leah Wu squinted her eyes and gave Nora He a fierce look, then turned to the screen. The video clearly showed Nora He accidentally knocking over the water bottle while retouching her makeup, and it also documented the distance between Olivia Xia and Nora He throughout the incident. There was no room for dispute.
The young girl displayed a surprised smile and said cheerfully, "See, I told you I didn't make a mistake."
Nora He clenched her teeth and glared fiercely at the girl.
However, Leah Wu showed a faint smile and said to Olivia Xia, "It turns out there was a misunderstanding. I'm really sorry for wrongly accusing you."
Afterward, she turned her gaze to Nora He and said, "Miss He, should you perhaps apologize to this young lady and me?"
