"Interesting, haha!" Meryl Chu stood in the control room, watching the corridor's footage, with a playful smile on his face. "This President Riley is much younger than I expected, and more interesting too."
Meryl Chu had already started fantasizing about the future, creating domestic miracles with this big shot. Just thinking about it made his blood boil, and he was full of enthusiasm.
In the corridor, under pressure, Nora He apologized to Olivia Xia and Leah Wu. However, he couldn't help but excuse himself, providing various reasons, ultimately making it seem like the young girl was at fault with Olivia Xia.
Olivia Xia didn't say much, but the hint of a smile at the corner of her mouth held deeper meaning.
Meryl Chu looked at his watch with an evil grin. "It's about time, let's go."
Meryl Chu, along with the company's design department director and HR manager, arrived in the corridor, and the scene had returned to silence.
Everyone was waiting quietly for the interviews to begin, except for...
Olivia Xia!
She had gone to the restroom, and as she came out, she coincidentally ran into Nora He washing her hands.
Olivia Xia quietly washed her hands, but Nora He deliberately extended her hand to cover the tap, splashing water toward Olivia Xia.
Olivia Xia had been prepared, and she shielded herself with the transparent document folder she was holding. All the water splashes bounced back onto Nora He.
"Ahh!" The restroom erupted with a piercing scream.
Olivia Xia innocently smiled and, taking advantage of the chaos, used her wet hands to help Nora He wipe her face. "Oops, are you okay?"
"Ahh, what are you doing? Get away, get away!" Nora He shouted in anger.
Olivia Xia stepped back in time, but Nora He's heavily made-up face had already turned into a mess.
"Well, I'll be on my way." Olivia Xia shrugged and elegantly walked out of the restroom, then turned into the interview room.
Leah Wu heard the commotion and saw Olivia Xia's silhouette entering the interview room. She squinted her eyes, quickly checked the surveillance, and revealed a calculating smile.
The interviews began quickly, but due to the large number of candidates, each interview was brief. Some candidates were in and out in less than two minutes, surprising everyone with their speed.
In the end, Olivia Xia didn't interview with Meryl Chu. Instead, she moved a chair behind the scenes and had Meryl Chu's secretary bring out her questions when needed.
However, there weren't many candidates Olivia Xia could ask questions to.
When Leah Wu entered, Meryl Chu became particularly enthusiastic. She was the legendary girl who had graduated from UCL in the UK. However, her attire seemed quite ordinary to them. Even though she was wearing designer brands, it appeared commonplace. After the incident in the corridor, Meryl Chu's impression of Leah Wu took a significant hit. He couldn't resist making a few critical remarks, even if he had intended to help Xavier Si.
Of course, anyone who could get into UCL had their unique qualities, especially those who specialized in design. Leah Wu had her exceptional traits, so Meryl Chu still gave her a high score. On the other hand, Olivia Xia behind the scenes only threw out a few ordinary questions, making Meryl Chu marvel at the professionalism of this "big shot."
On the contrary, when a girl named Anna Su entered, Olivia Xia bombarded her with tricky questions one after another. Looking at the innocent face of the girl, Meryl Chu hesitated to ask. Why was their big shot suddenly so demanding?
When Nora He entered, Olivia Xia completely ignored him. Although he had some ability, it was clear that he was a bully who liked to take advantage of others. Not to mention Olivia Xia, even Meryl Chu didn't give him a chance, and he was out in one minute.
The interviews ended, and it was already 7 PM.
Meryl Chu came to the backstage and smiled at Olivia Xia, "President Riley, I've arranged dinner at the opposite hotel. If you don't mind, let's have a meal together and discuss today's interviews, shall we?"
Olivia Xia nodded, "Sure."
Olivia Xia rode in Meryl Chu's car to the restaurant and coincidentally ran into Steven Lu, who was also getting out of a car to have dinner here. Steven Lu was on the phone and, seeing Olivia Xia getting out of a stranger's car, his eyes widened, and he hurriedly rushed over, "Olivia Xia?"
Olivia Xia heard him but ignored him and entered the elevator with Meryl Chu.
Steven Lu couldn't catch the elevator and was left frowning. Had he mistaken her for someone else? When did Olivia Xia cut her hair short? But her face was exactly the same; how could he have been mistaken?
At dinner, besides Meryl Chu, there were several company executives. When they learned about Olivia Xia's identity, they treated her with great respect and deference.
Olivia Xia remained low-key throughout, neither saying too much nor drawing attention to herself. However, her presence was undeniable. After discussing the interviews, several attendees agreed that Leah Wu was qualified for the position of chief assistant, but Olivia Xia declined.
"What I need is an assistant who is willing to work diligently; qualifications are not so important," Olivia Xia stated, silencing everyone. No one brought up Leah Wu again.
After dinner, Olivia Xia went to the restroom and, upon coming out, ran into Steven Lu in the corridor, who had been on the phone. He grabbed Olivia Xia's hand, "Olivia Xia, it is you!"
Olivia Xia raised an eyebrow, "Is there something you need?"
"Why aren't you answering your parents' and your sister's calls? Do you know they've been looking for you all day?" Steven Lu's face darkened, and he spoke sharply.
"And why are you dressing like this, seducing men? You're going to marry into the Si family; do you want to ruin your reputation completely?" Steven Lu's tone took on a paternalistic attitude, which Olivia Xia found repulsive.
"It's none of your business," Olivia Xia retorted, pulling her hand away from Steven Lu, her voice icy.
"I'm concerned about you, Olivia Xia. You should recognize when you're doing well. You used to be so pure and lovely, and now you've turned so... promiscuous? Have you forgotten the meaning of shame?"
"Is your sense of shame about being with your girlfriend's sister? Ha...," Olivia Xia mocked, turned around, and walked away.
Seeing Olivia Xia heading toward the VIP room, Steven Lu's face turned red with anger. Unwilling to let things go, he followed her, pushing open the door before Olivia Xia could enter. His face contorted, and he said menacingly, "I want to see who you've been seducing today. If he finds out you're a shameless plaything, will he still want you?"
Coincidentally, Meryl Chu had just finished a phone call and was coming out of the room. He overheard Steven Lu's words, and a look of astonishment briefly flashed across his handsome face.
"Is this the young man you've found?" Steven Lu glanced at Meryl Chu and sneered, "Good-looking but probably working in some hotel or doing night shifts. Olivia Xia, your father cut off your card, and now you're looking for this type of service staff? Are you that desperate?"
As Steven Lu spoke, he took a closer look at Meryl Chu and suddenly felt like this man seemed somewhat... familiar?
