Everyone was dumbfounded at the scene.
But this was just the beginning…
"Damn, why isn't the fire out yet?"
Nash yelped and rushed to the corner, grabbing a dry powder fire extinguisher. He aimed the nozzle at Karmen, who was kneeling on the ground, and sprayed wildly.
"Ah!!!"
The fire extinguisher's powder covered a wide area, causing the crowd of extras Karmen had hired to scream and scatter.
In the middle, Karmen was in a pitiful state.
Coffee mixed with dry powder.
His once handsome face was now completely covered in a white crust, the coffee-stained part was brown, looking like a birthmark, and it no longer had anything to do with handsomeness.
"Pzzz!"
As Nash extinguished the last flame, the room fell into a deadly silence.
It was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop!
The romantic setting was completely ruined.
Candles were knocked askew by the spray, heart-shaped balloons were blown away, and the diamond ring turned into an unrecognizable white lump. The person proposing was still in shock, completely dumbfounded.
But just because everyone else was silent didn't mean Nash was.
Holding the fire extinguisher, he smacked Karmen on the back of the head, lecturing righteously, "How old are you? Don't you know not to play with fire in public?
What if you burned these people? What if you set the café on fire? Don't you know anything?"
Everyone was utterly shocked.
Who the hell is this guy?
Meanwhile, Karmen, who was slapped unexpectedly by Nash, was jolted awake.
His face twisted visibly with anger, and pieces of the white crust fell off from his face due to his rage.
"What the heck I’m playing fire? I'm confessing my love, do you understand?"
He roared angrily.
He was completely furious.
Rose petals falling like rain, heart-shaped candles, a band playing, and a stunning diamond ring – it was a proposal scene straight out of a textbook, only to be ruined by an idiot with a dry ice fire extinguisher.
Playing with fire in public?
To hell with that!
Karmen was livid, but Nash ignored his outburst. He simply picked up the extinguisher and sprayed it at an underling who was trying to relight the candles, extinguishing both the candles and the lighter's flame, speaking with a sense of justice.
"Fire prevention is everyone's responsibility!"
Everyone was speechless.
Karmen was even more infuriated.
"Who the hell are you?" he demanded angrily.
He thought Nash was doing it on purpose.
The first time could be explained as a mistake, but the second time, after knowing it was a love confession, how stupid could one be?
But Nash was indeed doing it intentionally.
Hearing Karmen's question, he put down the extinguisher and cheerfully walked over to Gwen.
"I'm her boyfriend, Nash!"
Boyfriend?
The room fell into stunned silence.
Gwen shuddered, and her eyes seemed glued to Nash, unable to look away.
Was this her brother Nash?
Only Karmen paused for a moment, then shouted in anger and disbelief, "Stop lying! I've been keeping an eye on her. How did I not know she had a boyfriend?"
Nash just smiled and didn't respond.
Ignoring Karmen, he pulled out a two-dollar cake from his pocket and handed it to Gwen, saying softly, "I brought this for you."
Gwen's eyes instantly reddened, and she had no more doubts about Nash's identity.
This kind of cake was her favorite as a child, something only Nash and a few of her sisters knew about.
She couldn't believe Nash still remembered these little things.
She couldn't hold back any longer and threw herself into Nash's arms, hugging him tightly.
"Honey, I've missed you so much…"
Nash's eyes were full of tenderness.
He gently hugged Gwen back, softly saying, "I've missed you too."
Karmen's face turned pale when he heard these words.
He felt as if the words 'Honey' were like a sharp sword, piercing his heart and leaving a gaping hole.
Why?
Am I not handsome?
Am I not romantic?
Am I not richer than this idiot dressed like a mess?
In what way is he better than me?
A two-dollar cake, is it better than a diamond ring worth tens of thousands?
Why does she hug him and not me?
Karmen was dumbstruck with frustration.
At that moment, Gwen, who was in Nash's arms, suddenly coughed twice, causing Nash's brows to furrow.
Earlier, when Nash was extinguishing the fire with dry powder, he had tried to avoid Gwen, but with the café turned into such a mess, the air quality had gotten poor.
He spoke softly.
"Let's go outside."
"Okay!"
Gwen nodded obediently, rubbing her eyes.
But just as they took a step to leave, Karmen suddenly shouted.
"Stop right there!"
As his voice fell, a few bodyguards holding signs nearby started to move towards them.
Nash's expression turned cold at this, and then he gently told Gwen, "You go ahead and wait for me outside. I need to talk to him."
"Alright."
Gwen obediently walked towards the door.
Karmen didn't stop her.
He was fuming and wanted to vent his anger. Having been overshadowed in yesterday's livestream and now having his café proposal ruined by Nash, he couldn't tolerate it anymore.
After Gwen left, he stood up with a grim face.
"I don't care who you are or how you got close to Gwen, but stay out of her sight from now on. She's my woman."
Nash scoffed.
"Your woman? Did she agree to that?"
"She will," Karmen said confidently, with a hint of arrogance in his eyes. "I've been following her for four years. Last night, I even gifted her two million in presents. She has no reason to refuse."
Nash raised an eyebrow at that.
So, this is the guy named "I am the master of my own destiny".
Initially wanting to teach Karmen a lesson, Nash suddenly wasn’t in a hurry anymore.
He teased, "Two million, and you expect her to marry you? Isn't that a bit low? Shouldn't it be more like ten million?"
Ten million.
That damn ten million again!
It irked Karmen to even think about it.
After sizing Nash up and confirming his clothes weren’t worth more than two hundred, Karmen’s lips curled in disdain.
"These days, even dogs on the street know how to brag. You, dressed in barely two hundred worth of clothes, dare to talk about what's enough? Forget two million. Can you even bring out two hundred thousand? Huh?"
He stretched out a hand and forcefully patted Nash's cheek.
Nash didn't react but simply took out his phone and started fiddling with it, speaking slowly.
"Indeed, I can't bring out two million."
Karmen's scorn deepened.
"At least you're somewhat self-aware. Now, get lost!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Nash lifted his phone to Karmen's face, with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
"I'm used to dealing with ten million. Don't you agree? Kid!"
