George didn't know that someone had misunderstood the relationship between him and Avery. After sending Avery off, he went back to his house to sort out the ingredients and prepare for the barbecue stall in the evening.
In the game world, he had already rented the land, but he did not have money to buy seeds, so there was no way to plant anything yet. George has seen the seeds of vegetables and fruits sold in the grocery store. After all, the grocery store had all kinds of things. However, the prices were naturally expensive due to the unethical businessman.
George had only one gold coin in his pocket, which was obviously not enough to buy a large number of seeds. Therefore, he can only kill more monsters, obtain corpses, and then sell them to earn money to buy seeds.
Last night, he had been mining in the cave. Although he was not able to complete Blacksmith Sun's task until he was teleported out, he killed a lot of golden-haired rats during the mining process. Although most of them didn't leave their corpses behind, he still managed to get four or five corpses after killing a huge lot. George used his cutting skills to dissect the corpses and obtained a lot of teeth, claws, fur and meat. Therefore, he was just waiting to sell those for money when he returned to the village.
However, George felt regretful that after killing so many golden-haired rats, not a single piece of equipment was dropped. The equipment drop-rate was really appallingly low.
At night, before it was completely dark, George grabbed his things and rushed to his stall.
As the start of the new university semester was approaching, the flow of people here had gradually increased. Hence, there were more vendors around. George didn't care much about the others but there were two more barbecue stalls, which meant that he had two more competitors.
"The competition is getting bigger, and I'm almost out of business." George said sadly.
Originally, there were many barbecue stalls here, as well as several barbecue restaurants. Even if the barbecue business was good in the summer, it cannot withstand too much competition. Amongst the stalls, George's simple equipment, paired with his poor skills, put him at a disadvantage against the competition.
"However, today may be different!" George remembered that he had learned advanced cooking skills from Aunt Wang in the game world the day before. The cooking skills were all-encompassing, and naturally included barbecue.
In fact, when George was preparing the skewers in the afternoon, he had already felt that he was more skilful in making them. The skewers he made were obviously more presentable than what he previously made.
With anticipation, George put everything away and waited for the arrival of the first guest.
"Boss, please give me two skewers of enoki mushrooms and a skewer of pork belly!"
After waiting for about ten minutes, he got his first order. Although it was not a big order, George was still very happy as long as there was business.
"Alright."
George took two bunches of enoki mushrooms and a handful of pork belly. He put them on the barbecue grill and started grilling, turning them constantly, and then sprinkled the seasonings. After a little while, bursts of aroma came from the food.
"It smells so good, boss, your skills have improved." The customer standing in front of the barbecue grill said with a captivated yet puzzled expression on his face.
There was no doubt that the aroma came from the food in front of him. However, this was not the first time that he had come to George's for barbecue. He was still very clear about George's cooking skills, but didn't expect to see George's skills improve that much.
"I've been in this for a month, so I have gained some experience." George grinned. He could smell the aroma of the food himself and was obviously very satisfied with his skills.
"This advanced cooking skill is really not just for show." George thought to himself.
Soon, the three skewers of food were all done, and George handed them to the customer. The latter had been attracted by the smell for a long time. After getting them, he didn't care if they were hot and ate them quickly.
"Be careful, don't burn your tongue." George reminded.
"Well, well." the customer nodded while eating non-stop, "It's so delicious! Boss, your skills have improved a lot. The taste is so much better than before, no. Sorry, this little bit is not enough, give me two more of the same thing!"
Obviously, this customer was completely impressed by George's cooking skills. He ordered two more portions before he even finished the food in his mouth.
"Okay, wait a minute." George was naturally very happy and quickly continued to grill the food.
"What is that fragrant smell?"
"It seems to be coming from the barbecue stall next door."
"It does smell like barbecue. My gosh, the smell is so fragrant. I just had a meal and I can't help but drool."
"How about we go get something to eat?"
"Do we have to? I've been to that barbecue stall before. The boss is a novice and his skills are very average."
"This is average? It smells so good. I can't help it anymore."
"Maybe it just smells good. It tastes really average. I've had it before."
"If you don't go, I will. I must try it, otherwise, my stomach will protest."
Some of the pedestrians passing by were attracted by the aroma of George's food and couldn't help but come over. However, some people who had eaten there before had doubts on their faces.
"Boss, give me ten small skewers of meat, two skewers of mushrooms, and two skewers of leeks."
"I want a sausage and two chicken wings."
"Boss, bring me two grilled squids, one eggplant, and two mutton skewers."
……
More and more passers-by were attracted by the aroma and couldn't help but come over and order a few portions.
"Okay, okay." George had a smile on his face.
Many people gathered in front of his barbecue stall, and everyone ordered something. His business had never been so good since he started doing barbecue, and he was naturally in a very good mood.
George's advanced cooking skills not only allow him to cook delicious food, but also ensured that even if he grilled a variety of ingredients at the same time, the taste of each item will be exactly the same. At this time, his grill was already full of food. However, he still flipped and sprinkled the seasonings skilfully and orderly without fumbling.
Moreover, George realised that his memory seemed to have improved. Although many customers came at the same time and everyone ordered different things, he was able to remember their orders clearly. There was not a single omission, and there was no need to ask them a second time. This memory ability alone was surprising.
"Maybe it has something to do with the intelligence trait in the character's attributes." George guessed.
