George spent half the afternoon preparing the ingredients for the evening barbecue. In order to avoid the situation last night where everything was sold out early, he specially prepared a lot of ingredients, including both meat and vegetables.
However, George underestimated his skills. When he came to the stall with his things in the evening, he found that there were people waiting for him already.
"The boss is here!"
"Boss, give me five skewers of pork belly, two chicken wings, two leeks..."
"Boss, give me a drumstick, a pig's trotter, two eggplants..."
"Boss, I want..."
Before George's things were completely put away, several people had already gathered around him. These people actually came in advance to wait for him here just to eat his barbecue.
"Hold your horses. Wait until I put the things away and take your orders one by one." George said with a smile.
George was naturally very happy. Although he knew that his skills had improved and the taste of barbecue was much better than before, he did not expect to have "fans" so quickly. These people obviously ate his barbecue the day before and came again today because they thought it tasted good. As a business owner, who didn't want to have returning customers? Moreover, the returning customers were willing to wait here in advance to eat his food.
"Boss, hurry up, I can't wait any longer!"
"Me too, I'm the first one here, I'm the first in line!"
"Don't worry, the boss is grilling very quickly, so don't disturb him."
The customers were obviously very enthusiastic and were full of expectations for George's barbecue.
George started to barbecue. As the sky got darker, more customers came to his stall. Soon, many people gathered around him, and the two newly added tables were already full.
It's not that George didn't want to buy more, but even if he did, he had no place to put it. Besides, it was inconvenient to travel back and forth just to take them too.
However, George believed that even if there isn't any place to sit, with his current skills, the business would still be much better than before.
The owners of several nearby barbecue stalls looked at George enviously while serving the few customers they had.
Since the previous day, they discovered that the number of customers at their stalls had decreased, while the number of customers at George's increased a lot. Many customers were attracted by George's stall, regardless of the distance between the stalls. The sudden boom in George's business naturally aroused the envy and jealousy of other barbecue stall owners.
"How good can he be as a newbie? Why does he suddenly have so many customers?" someone asked doubtfully.
"That's right, we have been in business for several years, and he has only been in business for a month. How did his business surpass ours?"
"Could they be fake customers?"
"It's possible, hey, young people nowadays just like to do vain things, unlike us, who are always down-to-earth and do business honestly."
"It costs money to hire fake customers. Let's see how long he can hold on!"
"Maybe it will be go back to the way it was before tomorrow."
The owners of several barbecue stalls, out of jealousy and distrust of George, felt that his so-called "good business" was just a façade and that George had hired some people to act as fake customers.
George didn't know what those barbecue stall owners were thinking. In fact, he couldn't think too much because he was very busy at the moment. The business was already booming yesterday. However, he realised that today's business was actually better than yesterday's. From the time the stall opened, he didn't
stop at all. Fortunately, he had advanced cooking skills. Otherwise, in such a hurry, it would definitely be a difficult thing to maintain the good taste of each skewer.
Because the business was better than George imagined, the prepared ingredients that he thought were enough sold out before twelve o'clock. At this time, there were still a number of people waiting in front of his stall.
"Sorry everyone, today's barbecue is sold out. If you want to try some, please come back tomorrow." George said apologetically.
"Sold out again? It was sold out early yesterday. Didn't you prepare more today?"
"Boss, you don't know how to run a business. How can you refuse so much business?"
"That's right, boss, think of a way to make some more."
Everyone was obviously dissatisfied with George, especially those who had waited for a long time and had not eaten yet.
"I'm really sorry, the ingredients are all gone, and there's nothing I can do." George said, "How about you go to the other stalls?"
Taking the initiative to push customers to his competitors, George's approach was quite bizarre.
"I won't go! I'm want to eat yours!"
"That's right, how can other barbecues be as delicious as yours here?"
"After eating the barbecue here, I can't eat at other places anymore. Boss, you have to compensate me."
George smiled bitterly. He didn't expect that he couldn't push away his customers. However, he didn't have any ingredients left. Even if he wanted to continue, there was nothing he could do. In the end, he could only apologize again and promised to prepare more the next day. Only then was he able to escape.
"It seems that I still underestimated this advanced cooking skill." George packed up his things and prepared to go back, "Also, should I hire someone to help?"
Although he could only grill the barbecue himself to ensure the taste remains the same, others could still help with packing, buying ingredients and preparing skewers. If someone does this, it'll be a lot easier for him.
However, there was no need to rush. George's business had just picked up and he hadn't saved much money. He could continue to work on his own while looking for a suitable candidate.
After returning to his residence, it was not past twelve o'clock and he could not teleport yet. George went online and checked which crops or foods were more popular or more expensive. There was still a large open space in the back hills in the game world, and he hadn't decided what to plant yet. Besides, he didn't have any gold coins left, so he could survey first before he made any decision.
"I won't pay the village chief the five hundred gold coins for the time being. If I have money, I will buy various seeds first and fill up the open space in the back hills first." George thought to himself.
The old village chief's debt can be paid in full within a month. Previously, he thought five hundred gold coins was a lot, but the last trip to the mine brought him an income of more than one hundred gold coins, which made him George less stressed about his debt. So, in this case, he naturally wanted to plant crops in his land first. After all, if he planted the crops earlier, harvest would also be quicker.
