The auction began with a brief introduction of all the items. Most of them were the Morrisons’ private collections. Stan explained that they had gone through the formal procedure and Mr. Morrison intended to use them to do charity before he died.
It was true that Mr. Morrison did draw up a charity project before he died. But there was no specific list of what should be used at the auction. Now Stan was in charge and these collections were under his control.
Jocelyn saw three sets of jewelry worn by her mother and herself and her father’s collections of paintings and antiques, which made her eyes red.
After the auction began, these collections were totally underestimated by these people, who were yelling to bid. It was difficult for her to calm the rage in her heart. She clenched teeth and said.
“Mother, can you take this painting?”
Hearing that, Selena gave her a glance.
“Why painting? If I take any jewelry later, I can wear it. But what is the painting used for?"
“Jewelry will be available any time, but if you miss the painting, it is hard to find it again. That painting is from Jason Hawk. If you take it back to grandpa, he will be happy.”
“Really?” Selena suddenly had interest in it. “Jason Hawk was at the wedding party that day... Is this real? Didn’t you say it was fake last time?"
When mentioning Jason Hawk, what had happened at the wedding party that day occurred to Selena, which made her shudder.
“That was a fake one, but this is real.”
Jocelyn said surely.
“How can they use fake ones at the auction? And this time we will get it in front of these people, it’s clear for everyone that we get it through a formal way. Then nobody will discuss more behind us."
Selena was delighted. "Yes, yes, of course. "
As she said, she glanced at the Cora beside her. Cora knew what she meant, held the bidding sign and joined the crowd.
Selena got Jason Hawk’s painting with 5 million dollar at last.
The moment the hammer fell, Jocelyn's heart that always hang finally dropped down.
Father, your daughter is unfilial and can barely keep your favorite painting.
There were a lot of collections at the auction, almost everything was snapped up when it showed up. When the jewelry which was worn by Joanne and her daughter showed up, nobody offered a price.
All three sets of jewelry were designed by Joanne herself, they were really valuable collectibles both in materials and designs. But unluckily it was Joanne and her daughter that died in an accident.
“The dead wore that, it may bring some bad luck.”
“Why you put the jewelry here? It wasn’t even designed by some famous designer.”
People at the auction started to discuss about it.
“This necklace starts with 50 thousand dollar. Does anyone want to take it?”
“...”
After he asked a few times, there was still nobody to answer it.
Jocelyn clenched her teeth. As she tried to avoid being seen to be weird, she kept her head down to hide her red eye and her clenching fist.
“500 thousand.”
A crisp female voice stood out from the discussion, which made the auction burst into an uproar.
Jocelyn suddenly raised her head and looked at the direction of the voice.
It was a woman in sunglasses and scarf on the first floor in the seating area with almost 100 people. She held the biding sign, standing straight. Though she tried her best to hide her real identify, Jocelyn recognized her from her voice.
Her eyes were red in a flash.
It was almost tenfold from 50 thousand dollar to 500 thousand dollar, plus it was a necklace that nobody wanted. Everyone was surprised and looked at the girl, who was willing to bid a high price for it.
Some sharp-eyed man recognized her.
“It is Polly Foster.”
When hearing the name, Jocelyn's eyes were instantly moist. She almost couldn’t control herself and tears were about to fall down. She turned her head away to avoid to be seen by Selena. She glanced secretly at the girl on the first floor
She was Joanne's best friend before she died.
From Jocelyn's view, she saw Polly Foster apparently hold her sunglasses in the crowd's measured gaze and lower her head slightly, as if she was in a low mood.
It did not take long before the auction man dropped his first hammer.
“This lady bid with 500 thousand dollar, any more bid?”
“1 million dollar."
This voice was from some box on the second floor. It was a little husky. It was from someone who used to be casual, but some kind of sadness was in his voice.
