Hearing it, Jocelyn felt even worse.
She could tell from Polly's red eyes that Polly had been crying for her a lot these days. But she couldn’t go to speak to them in front of these people with her current status.
Thinking about it, bid had reached a very high level, 9 million dollar.
“10 million dollar.” Franklin leaned over the window with a strangely cold look.
“Polly Foster, save it. I’m determined to get Joanne’s thing. How much money can you make as an actor? Just Save it."
Jocelyn got nervous. If they were not in the auction, Polly would have to roll her sleeves and fight Franklin.
“What a waste of money, 10 million dollar…”
Everyone in the audience gasped.
Polly acted unusually. She just glanced at Franklin's direction. There was not much anger or joy in her red eyes. She glanced and sat back without bidding again.
“10 million dollar. Any more bid? Any more bid? Joanne’s necklace is owned by Mr. Vogt.”
The sound of the hammer at the auction became a voice-over. Jocelyn almost forgot her intention to come here, watching Polly leave in a gloomy face. She didn’t come back to herself for a long time.
The last one was a collection of Joanne. As she hadn’t designed it or been seen worn it, there were a lot of people bidding for it.
“Mrs. Morrison, this is what Mr. Morrison asked you to take.”
Cora remained her on her side.
Selena just glanced at it and then stayed still. "I really don’t know what Abner is thinking. He knew that Mrs. Ruskin liked it but asked me to take it, was not it offensive? "
Jocelyn came back to her mind, muttered for a few seconds and said to Selena.
“Mom, Dad probably did not mean that you should take it, he just wanted you to bid and acted like you really liked it. It’s enough to just show up in front of Mrs. Ruskin.”
“Really?” Selena frowned. "It is impossible. What if this Mrs. Ruskin stops bidding in half way…?”
“Then you can just give it to her as a present. Anyway, Dad just wanted you to have a chance to speak to Mrs. Ruskin. If you can’t do it well, it’s not easy to explain it to Dad.”
It seemed that Selena deliberately tried not to talk to Mrs. Ruskin and forced Abner to beg grandpa. It was just stupid.
To avoid Selena being stupid, Jocelyn suggested.
“You knew Dad's temper. If you can’t handle Mrs. Ruskin, he may not be willing to be soft in front of grandpa. Then if something happens to the company, their relationship will be even worse, then you will be in an awkward position.”
On hearing this, Selena seemed to be awakened.
“Cora, go to bid.”
Jocelyn was calm on the face but she was muttering in her heart. With her intelligence, it was impossible for her to please grandpa, even if she stayed at the Morrisons forever.
Though Abner told her to bid something last night, he put real emphasis on getting her to talk to Mrs. Ruskin. But Selena couldn’t get this. No wonder grandpa still treated her with indifference even for dozens of years.
Selena’s people got to the window to bid. With the price getting higher, people who bade was less. When the price reached 7 million dollar, only Mrs. Ruskin and Selena was still battling.
When Selena called 7 million and 500 thousand dollar, the next box was silent for a moment.
“Why she stops bidding?” Selena was a little nervous now.
After all, 7 million dollar was not a small amount, she really hated to part with her money.
“8 million dollar!”
Jocelyn froze as she heard a clear voice.
Selena was relieved and was about to follow her. Jocelyn hurriedly pulled her sleeve and reminded her.
“Mom, it’s enough. Or you will really offend her.”
