“Knock, knock.”
“Come in.”
“Cathy, it is me." Jocelyn smiled as she opened the door of the office with design drafts and walked toward Cathy's desk.
“You are right here. Get me a cup of coffee.”
What she said interrupted Jocelyn’s movement. She froze and took a deep breath. Then she took Cathy's glass.
“Ok.”
As she was about to leave, she heard Cathy’s complain behind her. "These are total trash. Are they pupils?"
Then a stack of drawings was all rolled up and thrown into the trash can.
“Why you are still here?” Cathy noticed the file in Jocelyn's hands. "What is that in your hand?"
Jocelyn froze for a second and said in a hurry.
“This is my design for the autumn and winter items. I want to show you this.”
Cathy looked at her, as if she was very surprised, and said after a long time.
“Leave it on the desk.”
Jocelyn was relieved and left her design drafts on the table.
When she went out to get some coffee, she met Cathy's chief design assistant, Carmen. She held a lot of documents in her hand, and seemed walking in a hurry.
“Good morning, Miss Bond.” Jocelyn greeted her.
Carmen suddenly stumbled and the documents in her hands all fell on the ground.
“My god…”
Jocelyn crouched down to help her pick up these documents. “I didn’t say it too loud, did I? Did I scare you?"
“It is all right..." Carmen was picking the things up in a hurry. Some of these papers were blown away. She turned around to pick them up.
There were almost design drafts on the ground. Jocelyn saw a few of them and said in surprise.
Are these drafts from the people interviewed today? These are great designs. They can be this autumn and winter items. "
Carmen suddenly turned back to her with an unnatural expression.
“They are all samples, and all depends on Cathy.”
As she said, she quickly took the drafts in Jocelyn's hands and left with the stack of documents in her arms.
Jocelyn froze there. Sample? Weren’t they from the interviewer? There was even a signature on the right corner. A name Jesse was written there. It seemed there was nobody named Jesse in the design department.
She was confused, but had to make some coffee for Cathy. She went to Jocelyn Turner went to the tea room and make coffee.
“Cathy, your coffee.”
“Well, thank you.” Cathy took a sip of her coffee and put it beside her hands. Then Jocelyn saw her throwing away these drafts in the trash can. Cathy called these drafts trash.
Jocelyn did not see her drafts in the trash can, but found them under the folder, which she put her drafts in, under Cathy's mouse pad.
She sighed in silence and left the office.
She thought this Cathy would be different. But the fact was that people in this industry were all the same. It was really hard for a senior person to accept the new man's opinion with modesty.
Even though she was well prepared if Cathy didn’t like her design drafts. But when she saw them under the mouse pad, Jocelyn Turner was upset. When she came back from abroad, her family had set up a jewelry studio for her. These ups and downs made her feel helpless.
After work, Jocelyn pulled her tired body out of the company. She saw a familiar figure from far away, it was Carmen, who was startled by her this morning. She was about to greet her, but a handsome man called her.
“Jocelyn.”
A brisk voice came behind her. Jocelyn's drew her gaze back.
“Leo." Jocelyn looked back and saw Leo, smiling. "I thought you were gone. "
“I went to the bathroom.”
They walked out of the company gate side by side, Jocelyn secretly pointed to Carmen who were far away. "Is that her boyfriend? "
“Who?” Leo looked to that direction and said in a gossip tone. Then he shook his head to deny. "No, I have seen her boyfriend, he isn’t this tall, this one should be a student who was interviewed in our company."
“A student?”
“Well, there have been so many interviewers lately. And so many of them are trying to get in by the back door. Look how proud she has been lately. She decides so many designers’ life and death of our industry.”
Jocelyn nodded to show her agreement.
She had never been at the bottom before, now she finally knew that senior really decided others’ life and death. Though Carmen was just a design assistant, these interviewers all needed her recognition. If she denied you, no matter how many talents you had, you even couldn’t step into the door of design apartment.
Carmen was the chief design assistant of Cathy. If she could give recognition to Jocelyn’s design, it could be helpful. Jocelyn’s eyes suddenly brightened.
At the same time, in the military region of Jinling.
So many people were training on the playground. The slogan was loud. In the quiet yard of the southeast corner, Arthur held on to the railings on both sides, relaxed his wrist and tried to find the feel of his legs.
The adjutant stood straight beside him and advised.
“You come to the military region every day to do rehabilitation. It’s tired to come and go back. Or you can just live here, you can just ignore other things to save your time.”
Arthur walked through the circle in his own way. He was still on the rail. Sweat was on his face, as if it glowed under the sunshine.
“If I do not come and go back every day, I am afraid it will take more effort. Living in the military region is not necessarily safe. I think we can learn a lesson from the past.”
His voice was cold. It was more depressed with the setting sun.
“I had some clues about the explosion five years ago. The two soldiers on patrol in the mine area had been drugged, so they had been asleep for an afternoon. And the road sign, it must be replaced by someone on purpose.”
“Do you have some details about it?”
“I still don’t have details about this.”
“It has been five years. He is really good at hiding himself.”
“I am afraid it is someone inside.”
The adjutant's voice was worried. "If it is really someone inside, we have to be more careful in the future."
“You should be careful now when you are talking.” Arthur gave him a meaningful look, and as the adjutant collected himself, Arthur said softly.
“It is getting late. I should get back.”
“Yes.”
The adjutant helped him get on the wheelchair, and he saw there was a figure out of the yard. The shadow was stretched under the sunset glow. It seemed dim on the road.
Then he turned around and said. " Chief didn’t mind time to come back. It all depended on your mood. Now you go back home on time every day. It’s just the time Mrs. Morrison gets off work.”
Arthur did not deny it, leaving it going into ears of someone who had been watching them.
