"Noah Jiang, you good-for-nothing! Aside from hanging around that pathetic clinic every day, what else can you do? If it wasn't for the marriage arranged between your grandfather and my father, do you think you'd be worthy of my daughter?
Now I’ve only asked you to cook chicken feet for my dog, and you burnt them. You useless thing, garbage, get out! Get out of this house! I'll have Cindy divorce you later."
A thin young man in a white tank top and grey shorts walked out from the entrance of a villa complex, all while smoking a cigarette and scratching his head. His flip-flops felt as heavy as if they were made of lead.
That's right, this young man's name was Noah Jiang. Because he accidentally burnt the chicken legs meant for his mother-in-law's beloved dog, he got kicked out of the house.
"Heh, I'm even worse off than a dog,"
Noah looked up with a bitter smile on his face. This was the result of being dependent on others, for he was a son-in-law who had married into his wife's family.
Ever since he became part of the Ye Family, Noah lived like a dog. With an indifferent wife, he wasn't even allowed to share a bed with her.
All day in that house, he did all kinds of chores and had to endure his irate mother-in-law's temper and constant nitpicking. He felt even less valued than the family's pet dog.
"Grandfather, why did you arrange this kind of marriage for me? Even if I loved that woman, she's indifferent to me. We've been married for a year, and I'm not even allowed to touch her hand. What's the point of this marriage for me?"
In Noah's hand was a creamy white jade pendant, intricately carved with a majestic dragon. This was a treasure passed down in the Jiang Medical Sect, given to him by his grandfather. It was to be safeguarded and passed on to future generations.
"Hey! Whose child is standing in the middle of the road?"
A woman's anxious voice reached Noah's ears. He looked up to see a frightened little girl standing in the middle of the road with a car honking wildly and speeding towards her.
Without hesitation, Noah dashed forward, his flip-flops flying off, pulling the girl to safety. But he was hit by the car, sending him rolling several meters away like a ragdoll.
For a moment, everything went dark for Noah. He clutched his chest, coughing up blood, struggling to breathe.
However, a miraculous event occurred. His right hand, tightly holding onto the dragon-carved jade pendant, started to glow in a bright white light as it came into contact with his blood. A massive surge of spiritual energy enveloped the injured Noah.
A pale voice echoed in Noah's mind: "I am the Yuanshi Medical Fairy. A fragment of my soul resides in this Dragon Jade. I see your pure and kind heart, so I bestow upon you my knowledge of medicine, the Yuanshi's esoteric studies, and the Yulin Formula. Use it to do good in the world."
The voice faded, and a vast amount of information rushed into Noah's mind, overwhelming him. It felt like a dream. When he opened his eyes next, he found himself in a hospital.
"You're awake."
Standing in front of him was a tall woman dressed in a professional white OL suit, with fair skin and stunning beauty, exuding elegance.
However, her expression was cold, and her eyes were emotionless as she looked at Noah lying on the bed, her voice filled with disdain and revulsion, "Why didn't you die? It would've set us both free."
"Heh."
Noah let out a bleak chuckle.
The gorgeous woman in front of him was Cindy Ye, his lawful wife and the CEO of Ye Group, a top young entrepreneur in Yulin City's business world.
"Cindy, how much did you wish for my death?"
At that moment, with the knowledge and power he inherited from the Yuanshi Medical Fairy, the injuries Noah sustained from the accident had healed. He felt like nothing had happened, almost as if he was in a dream.
"You know clearly why I agreed to marry you back then! Regardless of what your grandfather and my grandfather decided, you, Noah Jiang, weren't worthy of me, Cindy Ye!"
Cindy Ye's face was indifferent, her eyes coldly looking down upon Noah Jiang.
Indeed, looking down, as if a queen was looking down on a servant!
In her eyes, this man was nothing more than an inconspicuous traditional Chinese doctor.
Had it not been for the marriage agreement made between their grandfathers years ago, how could Noah Jiang have ever entered Cindy Ye's world?
Even though they had known each other since childhood and could be considered childhood friends, the young Noah Jiang genuinely liked Cindy Ye.
But people change. Cindy Ye, a graduate from prestigious schools, hailed as a top student and campus beauty, graduated from Hafu Business School. Upon her return, she took over the Ye Group, becoming a genuine rich and beautiful CEO goddess.
From that moment on, Noah Jiang knew he wasn't worthy of this heavenly favoured lady.
Because even now, he was still just a minor traditional Chinese doctor. The Jiang Clinic, left to him by his grandfather, had lost its reputation due to his mediocre medical skills.
When he was destitute, he relied on the allowance given by Cindy Ye every month to survive.
"Yes, in the Ye family, I'm even worse than a dog!"
Noah Jiang shook his head and sighed. But soon, he angrily stood up, his demeanour changed from the previous desolation, his eyes full of determination. Facing the cold and proud Cindy Ye, he firmly said, "Don't worry, once your grandfather's health improves, I will take the initiative to propose a divorce to him!"
Cindy Ye was taken aback by his sudden strong aura, causing her to step back, her delicate eyebrows raised.
This man's characteristics were being weak, timid, and incapable!
But now, Noah Jiang's eyes exuded such confidence and determination that it surprised Cindy Ye. However, she soon calmed down, dismissing it as her misperception. What surprise could this man give her?
"That's what you said. You better keep your word."
Cindy Ye coldly glanced at Noah Jiang and then turned to leave the sickroom. As she was leaving, she added, "I've paid the medical bills. If he doesn't die, hurry up and go home. Don't upset my mother anymore, or you'll regret it."
Watching Cindy Ye leave, Noah Jiang's eyes sharpened, he gritted his teeth and murmured, "Before the divorce, I must make you..."
However, before he could finish his sentence, Cindy Ye hurriedly returned, exclaiming, "Come with me quickly. Grandfather had a sudden stroke and is being rescued at Kangbo Hospital."
"What? Alright!"
Noah Jiang quickly got up, left the hospital with Cindy Ye, and they drove in her Mercedes-Benz to Kangbo Hospital not far away.
Noah Jiang had great respect for Cindy Ye's grandfather, Theo Ye. Whether it was because of the relationship he had with his own grandfather or Theo's kindness towards him, Theo Ye was the only one in the entire Ye family who genuinely cared for him.
It was precisely because of Theo Ye that Noah Jiang agreed to this marriage and was willing to be a son-in-law who moved into the wife's family.
If it wasn't for the fact that Theo Ye was critically ill now and he didn't want to upset him with a divorce, Noah Jiang and Cindy Ye would have divorced long ago.
Because this marriage was the wish of both elders.
