In the days that followed, Noah Jiang returned to his usual tranquillity. He stayed at Jiang Clinic every day. When there were no patients, he immersed himself in studying medical books. When patients arrived, the old man from Chunxin Clinic next door didn't dare to steal them anymore.
A few days ago, he had lost a medical duel and almost couldn't face staying on Traditional Chinese Medicine Street.
Noah was dusting the medicine cabinet when his cell phone rang. He checked and saw an unfamiliar number. He answered, "Hello, who is this?"
"It's me, Alfie Wang. Where are you? I need to see you," came the voice of Alfie Wang from the phone.
"I'm at the clinic. Just come over."
Noah didn't know why Alfie Wang wanted to see him, but if it was for medical treatment, he wouldn't refuse.
Half an hour later, a BMW car slowly stopped. Alfie Wang got out and headed straight into the Jiang Clinic, smiling at Noah, "Young man, I need your help again."
"Alright, who's sick?"
Looking at Alfie Wang, Noah asked.
"It's my father-in-law. I need you to take a look at him," Alfie Wang said with a smile.
His wife had told him earlier that day that her father's health was deteriorating. Alfie Wang immediately thought of Noah and decided to bring him to check on his father-in-law.
"Is it a common illness?"
Noah couldn't help but ask. Alfie Wang was taken aback for a moment and then nodded, laughing, "Yes, it's not a peculiar disease."
"That's good. Wait a moment."
Hearing it was a common illness, Noah nodded, grabbed his medical box, locked the clinic's main door, and then got into Alfie Wang's BMW.
The two chatted briefly about his father-in-law's condition in the car. Soon, the car stopped in front of a very ancient and grand house on a street.
Noah got out of the car and looked up at the grand old mansion. It was evident that the owner of this house was someone of significance. Without a certain status and power, ordinary people couldn't own such a grand mansion on this affluent street.
"Young man, follow me."
Alfie Wang led the way, and Noah followed. As they entered, an old butler greeted them, "Young Master, you're here."
"Yes, I brought a traditional Chinese doctor to see the old man," Alfie Wang replied.
"The master hasn't come downstairs yet. Please wait in the living room," said the old butler, glancing at Noah before leading them to the mansion's guest room.
Walking through the corridor, Noah silently nodded to himself. The mansion's Geomancy was excellent. The atmosphere of the mansion felt like stepping into an ancient, prestigious family's house. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that Alfie Wang's father-in-law was no ordinary man.
"Young Master, please sit for a moment. I'll check when the master will be up. He hasn't been feeling well these past few days," the old butler informed them. After instructing a servant to serve tea, he left with a sigh.
But as soon as he stepped out, he saw a middle-aged couple entering with a man in a grey traditional gown. The man was carrying an old-fashioned wooden medical box with the words "Longren Clinic" engraved on it.
Noah's eyes narrowed as he took a closer look at the middle-aged man, surprised. It was his first time seeing a doctor from Longren Clinic.
In the entire world of traditional Chinese medicine, the most famous clinic was "Longren Clinic".
It was said that the ancestors of Longren Clinic had been imperial physicians serving emperors.
After the fall of the imperial era, the Huang family established Longren Clinic. With the reputation of their ancestors as imperial physicians, they quickly made a name for themselves in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. Their reputation was known to all.
The current heir to Longren Clinic was Dawson Huang, a masterful physician. He was well-known for his excellent medical skills, his benevolent nature, and his commitment to serving society. He had an excellent reputation in the world of traditional Chinese medicine.
Seeing the doctor from Longren Clinic now, he appeared haughty, with his nose in the air, acting superior, which left Noah Jiang with a not-so-favourable impression.
"Isn’t this Brother-in-law Wang? What brings you to the old master's place today?"
The man who had brought in the doctor from Longren Clinic was a middle-aged man dressed in a designer suit. His name was Max Zhao, and the plump, dignified lady next to him was called Aria, who happened to be Alfie Wang's father-in-law's eldest daughter.
Alfie Wang's wife, the second daughter, Aria, hadn't come because she was busy. So, Alfie Wang had to call Max Zhao "brother-in-law."
Master Ruan, having only two daughters and no sons, valued both his sons-in-law, Alfie Wang and Max Zhao, quite highly.
The Ruan Group was a commercial titan in Yulin City, and now, due to the lack of an heir, the Master Ruan naturally had to choose one from among his two sons-in-law.
As a result, Alfie Wang and Max Zhao naturally became competitors, clashing more than once in private, all for the sake of competing for the position of future successor to the Ruan Group.
"Upon hearing from Aria that the old master has been ill these past few days, I've invited a TCM doctor to come and take a look." Despite the underlying rivalry, in the presence of the old master, they dared not show too much.
"Oh, what a coincidence, I've also invited a TCM doctor. He is Doctor Zhang from Longren Clinic, a direct disciple of Master Huang! You all should know who Master Huang is, right?
If Doctor Zhang hadn't happened to be in Yulin City, I wouldn't have had the chance to invite him to diagnose the old master." Max Zhao said proudly, pointing to the Longren Clinic's Enzo Zhang next to him.
Even Alfie Wang couldn't help but take a few more glances at Enzo Zhang. Being able to invite someone from Longren Clinic, moreover, a disciple of Master Huang, was indeed something to be proud of.
"I wonder, brother-in-law, who is this TCM doctor you've invited? I hope it's not one of those quacks outside, selling dog skin plasters while claiming to be genuine. If he treats my father and something goes wrong, can you bear the responsibility?" Aria glanced at Alfie Wang and saw Noah Jiang sitting next to him, sneering in disdain.
Hearing Aria's confrontational words, Alfie Wang just smiled, not very familiar with Noah Jiang's medical skills and not daring to guarantee, but at least knowing he was much better than the average TCM doctor.
"He's so young, his medical skills can't be that good."
"Exactly, brother-in-law, with a doctor from Longren Clinic here, you should quickly take him away. I wouldn't dare let such a quack treat my father." Aria's words were very harsh, and Alfie Wang's face darkened.
However, Noah Jiang on the side remained very calm, seeing Aria as if he were looking at his own mother-in-law, not bothering to care.
But he was somewhat puzzled about this Enzo Zhang from Longren Clinic; he had never heard that Dawson Huang had a closed-door disciple named Enzo Zhang.
He had heard that Divine Doctor Huang had a direct granddaughter with superb medical skills who had never appeared in public and was very mysterious.
However, out of professional courtesy, Noah Jiang nodded slightly to Doctor Zhang as a greeting.
But this Doctor Zhang scorned him with a glance, sitting there with his nose in the air, completely ignoring Noah Jiang.
Noah Jiang didn't mind, not caring about being looked down upon. After all, the other was a doctor from Longren Clinic.
At this moment, the butler helped an old man in his seventies, dressed in a white Tang suit, walk in. He was leaning on a cane, with white hair, a kind face, and a very amiable feeling.
However, his face was slightly pale, he coughed from time to time, and he looked very weak.
