“Dad, why have you come out?”
Seeing Master Ruan entering, Aria Ruan quickly approached, helping him to the main seat in the reception room, expressing concern: “Your health isn't good, why didn't you rest more?”
“Cough, cough, what's the use of resting so much when one has already gotten old? After all, death is inevitable.” Master Ruan coughed a couple of times and sat in the grandmaster chair, laughing and waving at Aria Ruan.
“Dad, don't say such things. You should live a long life.” Alfie Wang stood up and went to help Master Ruan.
“Alfie is here too, please sit down.” While coughing, Master Ruan laughed and gestured for Alfie Wang to sit.
“Dad, I invited the sole disciple of the Divine Doctor Huang from the Longren Clinic, Dr. Zhang, to treat you.” Max Zhao stepped forward, pointing to Enzo Zhang, who stood by the side.
“Oh, a doctor from Longren Clinic!” Master Ruan turned his head and gave Enzo Zhang an extra glance.
“My name is Enzo Zhang, my master is Dawson Huang.”
Facing Master Ruan, Enzo Zhang bowed in respect. Mentioning Dawson Huang, pride showed on his face.
“Cough, cough”
Master Ruan coughed twice before looking at Enzo Zhang, signaling him to sit and laughing, “I’ve long heard of the Divine Doctor Huang of Longren Clinic, famous far and wide. Although I never had the chance to meet him, being treated by his sole disciple is a blessing.”
“Master Ruan is too kind.”
Enzo Zhang laughed and took a seat, casting a slightly triumphant glance at Noah Jiang.
“Who is this young man? Is he also a doctor?” Master Ruan's gaze then shifted to Noah Jiang, who was sitting on the side.
“Yes, Dad. This is Dr. Noah Jiang I invited.” Alfie Wang nodded and said with a smile.
Noah Jiang stood up, politely saying to Master Ruan: “Greetings, Master Ruan.”
“Good, good. Cough, cough. Young man, please sit.”
Master Ruan coughed, motioning Noah Jiang to sit, and then he turned to look at Enzo Zhang on his right, clearly more interested in Longren Clinic.
Noah Jiang smiled. Longren Clinic's reputation was so strong that it was normal for others to overlook him.
However, he noticed Master Ruan’s pale face, weakened body, and a hint of purple between his eyebrows.
“Dr. Zhang, please check what ailment Master Ruan has.” Max Zhao said to Enzo Zhang.
“Alright, I will check Master Ruan’s pulse now.” Enzo Zhang went over, opened his medical box, and took out a pulse pillow. Master Ruan turned his wrist and placed it on the pillow, and Enzo Zhang started checking the pulse with a profound demeanour.
“Cough”
Coughing, Master Ruan asked Enzo Zhang: “Doctor Zhang, recently my cough has worsened, and at night, I suffer from severe headaches, and I can't sleep well.”
“Hmm.”
While checking the pulse, Enzo Zhang nodded to Master Ruan, saying: “Based on your pulse, you seem to have caught a cold, which caused the coughing. With your age and weakened state, minor health issues will naturally occur.
I’ll prescribe two formulas for you. One for the cold and another is our Longren Clinic's Comprehensive Rejuvenating Soup. If you take the soup continuously for a week, I guarantee you will feel rejuvenated.”
“Good, good. Cough, cough. Thank you, Dr. Zhang.” Coughing, Master Ruan happily said. Deep down, he was relieved. After all, as one grows older and faces health issues, the fear of death increases.
“Dad, I told you there’s nothing wrong with your health. You should be completely at ease.” Aria Ruan approached, comforting Master Ruan with a smile.
"That's right, Dr. Leo Zhang was Master Huang's last disciple. If he said it was just a minor cold, then it was just a minor cold. There wouldn’t be any serious illness. Dad, you don't have to worry." Max Zhao stepped forward, looking smug, and glanced at Alfie Wang, who was sitting with Noah Jiang, trying to outshine him.
Seeing Max Zhao's smug look, Alfie Wang gave Noah Jiang a wry smile and said, "Brother Noah, sorry to have you make a fruitless trip."
However, Noah Jiang's eyes narrowed slightly. Looking at Master Ruan, who was constantly coughing, from a diagnostic perspective, Master Ruan’s illness wasn’t as simple as a minor cold.
Noah Jiang then stood up and said, "Master Ruan, may I take your pulse?"
"You?"
Aria turned her head, looking disdainfully at Noah Jiang, and sarcastically said, "A quack selling plasters, I dare not let you examine my father. If something bad happens because of you, can Alfie Wang bear the responsibility?"
"Brother-in-law Wang, hurry up and take this quack away. We have Dr. Zhang to treat my father here." Max Zhao glared at Noah Jiang and shouted at Alfie Wang.
Alfie Wang frowned slightly and stood up, asking Noah, "Little brother, did you notice something?"
"Yes, your father-in-law's illness is not just a minor cold. Look at his pale face and the purple-black signs between his brows. It shows that he has symptoms of pneumothorax in his lungs, causing him to cough incessantly. If he isn't treated promptly, his life could be in danger." Noah Jiang said with a serious face.
"What, is it that serious?"
Alfie Wang's face changed slightly, looking at Master Ruan, who was sitting on the master chair and had been coughing almost non-stop since they entered.
"Young man, who are you trying to scare?"
Max Zhao glared and pointed at Noah Jiang, shouting at Alfie Wang, "Where did you find this guy, Alfie? He exaggerated the old man's illness. Is he sure he's not here to scam money?"
"Exactly, such quacks always exaggerate illnesses, making it sound complicated, then claim it will cost a lot of money to cure. He's just a scammer." Aria glared at Noah Jiang and then shouted, "Housekeeper, throw him out. We don't welcome such people in the Ruan household."
"Cough, cough."
Just as the housekeeper entered to escort Noah Jiang out, Master Ruan, who was sitting in the chair, suddenly coughed violently, spitting out blood, and then fainted.
"Dad, Dad, what happened? Dad!" Aria shouted in horror when she saw her father cough up blood and pass out.
"Dr. Zhang, please check on my father quickly!"
Max Zhao also became anxious, shouting at Leo Zhang, who was busy writing a prescription.
"This, this..."
Leo Zhang felt Master Ruan's pulse, which was weak and erratic. He was so flustered that he couldn’t speak properly. He had never encountered such a situation and felt a growing anxiety.
"Dr. Zhang, what's going on with my father? Didn't you say he just had a minor cold? Why did he cough up blood?" Aria shouted anxiously.
"I, I don't know. Just now, Master Ruan’s pulse clearly showed he just had a cold." Leo Zhang appeared panicked, stuttering as he spoke.
"Damn it, do you even know how conduct diagnosis?"
Max Zhao was furious, grabbing Leo Zhang by the collar. They never expected this turn of events.
Especially seeing the panic on Leo Zhang's face, his inability to handle the situation was not befitting of the famed doctor from Longren Clinic.
