"Father, I can't stand it. Why did Grandfather favor Noah Jiang so much? I'm his real grandson!" Freddie, who had just come out of the backyard, said in frustration.
Oliver Ye's eyes were cold. He said, "That Noah Jiang, it's time to teach him a lesson."
"Don't worry, Dad. I'll handle that guy. But right now, the most important thing is to get Grandfather's approval for me to join the company!" Freddie didn’t consider Noah Jiang a threat at all. What mattered most to him was how to get into the Ye Group, preferably to take over Cindy Ye's position as CEO.
"Your grandfather is the chairman of the group. Without his nod, the board of directors won't recognize you. Moreover, with Cindy Ye's capabilities, especially since she just secured the development project of New Century City in Lindong Area, our Ye Group successfully entered the real estate field. It’s impossible for the board to replace her now!" Oliver Ye narrowed his eyes, speaking coldly.
"So, what should I do? Do I have to wait for Grandfather to die to have my chance?" Freddie cried out in desperation.
"What nonsense are you saying?"
Oliver Ye glared at Freddie, looked around to ensure no one was nearby, and said, "Keep these kinds of comments to our home. Don’t speak recklessly outside, got it?"
"Oh, I got it,"
Freddie replied, nodding. Oliver Ye waved him off, saying, "Alright, go back first. I'll talk to your grandfather later and try to change his mind."
"Alright, Father. You must persuade Grandfather to let me join the group," Freddie said.
"I know, go back," Oliver Ye dismissed Freddie, who then nodded and left.
Soon after, Oliver Ye went to the kitchen and saw Gracie Chen preparing medicine for the old master. He approached her and asked, "Aunt Chen, are you making medicine for Grandfather?"
"Yes, this is the medicine that young master Noah Jiang prescribed for him last time. Grandfather has been taking it for a few days, and he looks much better," Gracie Chen replied, smiling at Oliver Ye.
"That's good. Grandfather's health is the most important. Keep making it, I'm going back," Oliver Ye said, nodding and then leaving.
Gracie Chen was a bit puzzled seeing Oliver Ye ask briefly and then depart, but she didn't think much of it.
After leaving the kitchen and the mansion, once back in his car, Oliver Ye took out his phone and dialled a mysterious number, mumbling darkly, "Father, this is all your doing. As Freddie said, unless you die, neither of us will have a chance."
Meanwhile, in the garden pavilion, Noah Jiang was taking the pulse of the old master. Beside him, Cindy Ye frowned and said coldly, "Can you do it? Don't diagnose other issues with Grandfather."
Noah Jiang glanced at her, smiling without replying.
Theo Ye laughed, looking at Cindy Ye, "Cindy, it's all thanks to Noah that I'm alive and could come back."
Cindy Ye knew well that it was because Noah Jiang had secretly treated her grandfather that he was able to come back from the hospital.
But no matter, even if his medical skills were exceptional, he was still just a traditional Chinese medicine doctor!
At that moment, Cindy Ye's phone rang. It was her secretary, Cece Deng, calling her back for a meeting.
After informing her grandfather, Cindy Ye left for the company.
"Grandfather, your condition has stabilized now. However, there's still some underlying issue with your leg that needs attention. I'll insert some needles now, which will ease your pain tonight," Noah Jiang said with a smile, after checking Theo Ye's pulse.
"That's great, Noah. I knew you could cure my ailment," Theo Ye said, patting Noah Jiang on the shoulder, his face showing gratitude.
"Yes, bear with me for a bit. It'll be slightly painful at the start."
Noah Jiang took out silver needles and began acupuncture on Theo Ye's legs as the two chatted casually.
Half an hour had passed before Noah Jiang removed the needle. Theo Ye felt much lighter in his legs and could even walk without a cane, which made the old man very happy.
"Grandpa, I'll come over in a few days to give you another acupuncture treatment," Noah Jiang said with a smile. "After two sessions, your legs will be fully healed."
"Good, good, good. I never thought that my legs could walk again," said Theo Ye. "Noah, I knew you were special. You will surely surpass your grandfather in the future.
It's a pity that he passed away early. If he could see you master the Jiang family's Nine-turn Magic Needle Technique, he would be very pleased."
Theo Ye sat back down in his chair and patted Noah Jiang's arm, smiling from ear to ear.
"Yes, my grandfather's spirit will see me revive the Jiang Medical Sect's Nine-turn Magic Needle Technique," Noah Jiang nodded, his eyes determined.
"Grandpa, I have high hopes for you," said Theo Ye cheerfully, glad that he had judged Noah right.
"By the way, grandpa, do you know where my grandfather went that night?" Noah Jiang suddenly asked Theo Ye.
"Hmm, why do you ask?" Theo Ye was taken aback and looked at Noah.
Noah Jiang's face turned serious. "Grandpa Ye, my grandfather disappeared one night before he passed away. When he came back, he suddenly fell seriously ill and died that same afternoon. You know he was only 68 and in good health. It wasn't like him to just fall ill and die. I suspect there's something suspicious about his death."
Noah Jiang had always had doubts about his grandfather George Jiang's sudden death. Back then, his medical skills weren't advanced enough to determine the cause of his grandfather's death, and the more he thought about it, the more things seemed off.
"But your grandfather really did die of a sudden illness," Theo Ye looked at Noah, adding, "I know his death hit you hard, but it was just an accident."
Noah Jiang wasn't sure what went wrong, so he simply nodded and said, "I hope so."
"Master, it's time to take your medicine," Gracie Chen interrupted, bringing a bowl of medicine.
"Aunt Chen, let me see the medicine,"
Noah Jiang said, temporarily putting aside thoughts about his grandfather, he took the medicine from Gracie Chen and smelled it, smiling, "Has it been brewed for an hour?"
"Yes, young master. I boiled it down from seven bowls of water to one, for a full hour," Gracie Chen nodded and smiled.
"Good, grandpa, here,"
Noah handed the medicine to Theo Ye and continued, "But I need to prescribe a new medicine for your leg condition. After taking it for a week and combining it with my acupuncture treatment, you'll be hopping around in no time."
"Haha, great! I'll leave my legs in your capable hands,"
Theo Ye laughed, and drank the medicine in one gulp, then took a sour plum from Gracie Chen to soothe the bitter taste in his mouth.
Noah Jiang took out a pen and paper and started writing a new prescription for the old man. After he finished, he handed it to Gracie Chen, instructing, "Aunt Chen, there's an ingredient in this prescription called 'fuzi.' First, boil it in ten bowls of water for a full hour, then add the other ingredients and boil down to two bowls. You need to take two doses a day. Understand?"
"Alright, Young Master. First, boil with ten bowls of water for an hour, then add the other ingredients and continue boiling until only two bowls of liquid remain. Take it twice a day. I've got it." Gracie Chen said to Noah Jiang, holding the prescription.
"Good, remember that. Tomorrow, go to Jiren Clinic's pharmacy to get the herbs," Noah Jiang replied, and Gracie Chen nodded in agreement.
Standing by, Theo Ye chuckled, "Noah, don't go back tonight. Stay and have dinner with grandpa. It's been a long time since we had a meal and chat together."
"Alright, grandpa. But I need to call my mom first, otherwise she'll expect me home for dinner," Noah Jiang nodded and took out his phone to call Junko Ye.
After watching Noah Jiang report to Junko Ye, Theo Ye sighed and said, "Noah, did we make you feel aggrieved by making you our son-in-law for the Ye Family?
I know Cindy and the others look down on you, but I genuinely wanted you in the Ye Family, which is why we arranged this marriage with your grandfather."
Noah Jiang shook his head with a smile, "Where do these thoughts come from, grandpa? I'm not aggrieved. On the contrary, being able to join the Ye Family is a privilege for me."
"What privilege? Frankly, it's the Ye Family that's privileged to be associated with the Jiang Family. You should know, your grandfather, George Jiang, is renowned in the entire traditional Chinese medical world as a great physician.
If he wasn't so generous and didn't seek fame, fortune, or status, with his abilities, Jiang Clinic's reputation could have surpassed that of the Longren Clinic," Theo Ye explained with emphasis.
Indeed, as he said, Noah's grandfather never sought fame or fortune but instead prioritized the well-being of his patients. Hence, even today, Jiang Clinic remains a small establishment on Traditional Chinese Medicine Street.
"Noah, do you want grandpa to lend you a hand?"
Theo Ye looked at Noah Jiang, knowing that with a nod, he could elevate the reputation of Jiang Clinic.
However, Noah Jiang shook his head, smiling, "Grandpa, I want to rely on myself. I will definitely revive the Jiang Medical Sect's prominence in the entire Chinese medical world!"
"Good! With this determination of yours, I will always support you."
Seeing Noah Jiang's unwavering resolve, Theo Ye beamed with happiness, feeling reassured about his old friend, George Jiang.
