"I have already scolded Cora for that. Prince Adam's incident was indeed my wife's fault. But she was just trying to act in the family's interest," Eddie answered.
Salim was shocked, and when he was about to say something, Eddie interrupted, "Brother, that is in the past now. What we are discussing now is Garfield's offense against Master Yahto. We have to offer an explanation to Master Yahto."
"What kind of explanation? Do you really want to expel Garfield? I don't agree!" Salim suppressed his anger.
"Salim, please calm down."
"You have no rights to make any decision on the Quickley family's affairs."
"Eddie is the patriarch of the family, he has the rights above you."
Several elders said angrily.
Salim suddenly felt disgusted when he looked at those angry and vicious elders.
However, he believed that Eddie would make the right decision.
After a while, Eddie looked at Grace and asked, "Sister, what do you think?"
A desolate smile on Grace's face and she said, "What is the point of asking me? You have always acted decisively. I bet you have already made the decision. Garfield is right. Since we are not welcome here, we should leave."
"Sister," Salim said sadly.
"Brother, I know you mean well, but you have seen what these people are like."
Grace stood up and looked determined while looking at the elders in the hall one by one.
Those elders are all relatives of Grace. But as Garfield said, for all these years, have they regarded us as members of the family?
"Grace, do you even know what you are talking about?" one of the elders said angrily.
"Of course, I know what I'm talking about. Your selfishness disgusts me. I really feel ashamed of the family."
"How dare you!"
Several elders were so angry that they trembled all over. They pointed at Grace and were speechless.
"You hate me because I didn't marry His Majesty and make you members of the imperial family. What have you done for the family over the years? The entire family property was my father's hard work. He was risking his life out there, and what about you?"
Grace gritted her teeth and tried her best not to shed tears. Her eyes were filled with sadness and anger, "You are relying on a woman to climb up the social ladder. I feel ashamed of you."
The elders were very angry after hearing what Grace said.
One of the elders said angrily, "We have kept you fed all these years. Would you have managed without the family? You are both such ingrates!"
Then Grace claimed, "This Caspian House belongs to my father. What does it have to do with you? Over the years, I have earned every bit of sustenance on my own. What contribution did you make?"
Grace looked at Eddie and then at Garfield and said softly, "Garfield, there is no place for us. Let's leave here."
Garfield nodded and said firmly, "Mother, I will never let you suffer again."
They turned and walked out of the hall after that.
"Sister!"
Salim cried out and looked at Eddie.
At the same time, Griffin and a group of guards stopped Grace and Garfield from leaving.
Garfield's gaze turned cold.
"You have offended Master Yahto and caused such a big loss to our family. Do you think you can just walk away like that?" Cora said in a ferocious voice, "Master and all elders, I think it might be a good idea to tie them up and deliver to Master Yahto."
Grace turned around, ignored Cora's shouting, and looked directly at Eddie.
"Eddie, would you still let two of us stay here?"
A cold voice echoed, and Grace looked very determined. It had been a long time since they had seen her with such determination.
"Let them leave."
Eddie's gaze was cold and emotionless.
"Master!" Cora screamed immediately.
"I said let them leave!"
Eddie said to a steward beside him: "Go to the account's office and give them a banknote of 500 taels of silver."
"Mother, we don't need any charity from them. Let's go, I will never let you suffer."
Garfield took his mother's hand and left the hall.
While everyone was watching, Grace and her son walked out of the hall.
For over a decade, the elders of the Quickley family had been wholeheartedly trying to drive Grace out of the family. However, at this moment, they didn't feel excited at all.
"Brother, I am really disappointed in you!"
Salim looked angry and left the hall instantly.
After leaving the Quickley Mansion, Grace said, "Son, mother has made you suffer. I am fine with being wrong. I am just afraid that you will suffer with me."
Garfield looked at the gate of Quickley Mansion and said to his mother, "Mother, trust me. Good days are ahead."
However, Grace looked worried, "Garfield, you must not do anything that violates the laws."
Garfield laughed, "Mother, don't you believe in me?"
"I believe in you no matter what." Grace looked at her son lovingly. She felt proud of her son.
"Sister, please stop!"
A loud voice suddenly sounded, and both Grace and Garfield turned around and saw Salim walking towards them along with Aubrey.
Salim sighed and said, "Sister, why are you doing this? Garfield is still young. Won't you make him suffer a lot?"
Grace answered, "Brother, won't he suffer if he stays here?"
Salim continued to sigh. He understood her sister's situation in the family, but there was nothing he could do about it. After all, Eddie is the decision maker of the family.
"It would be nice if father was here." Salim exclaimed, "Sagiv went too far this time!"
