When Maxwell spoke, Brody's eyes flashed with intensity, glaring angrily at him.
"Where did this young brat come from?"
"Have you been swallowing lions' courage and bears' bravado? Daring to spin such tall tales here!"
"I've practiced medicine for decades, saved countless lives, and anyone who dares to call me a quack hasn't even been born yet!"
Maxwell pointed to the herbal medicine, "Is this your prescription?"
"Indeed, it's mine! What about it?"
"This medicine is completely off the mark! You've got it all wrong!"
"Ridiculous!" Brody laughed angrily and continued, "Where did you come from? What qualifications do you have to judge the medicine I prescribe? Is this how the younger generation of the Harrison family behaves?"
"Doctor Cooper, please don't misunderstand," Lily hurriedly explained, "He's a child from a friend's family. Um... Nora, actually Doctor Cooper has already treated Hudson. I appreciate your kindness, but please take him away quickly."
Nora smiled faintly and said to Hudson, "Hudson, I specially brought a renowned doctor to see you today."
Hudson waved his hand and replied, "Having Doctor Cooper is sufficient."
"Haha..." Maxwell sneered, "Clearly a quack! Quacks kill people! Alas!"
"Shut up!" Timothy, the son of the Harrison family, couldn't bear it anymore, "Doctor Cooper is the top physician in Delington! Don't talk nonsense in my house. Mrs. Tipton, we appreciate your kindness, but we don't welcome the person you brought. Guards, escort the guests out!"
Nora raised an eyebrow.
"I know Maxwell's medical skills best."
"If he says the medicine is wrong, then it's wrong!"
"If he says Brody is a quack, then he is!"
Her tone was decisive and indisputable.
Brody was on the verge of exploding with rage.
As the top physician in Delington, he was usually revered wherever he went. Today, someone dared to call him a "quack," not just one but two! If this were his clinic, he would have had them beaten and thrown out with broken legs.
However, he also knew Nora's identity, so he suppressed his anger and said in a deep voice, "Fine! Fine! Fine! Since you keep saying I'm a quack, and my medicine is wrong, then let me show you the effectiveness of this Seven-Star Revitalizing Soup! This is a carefully formulated secret recipe of mine. If it cures Hudson, Mrs. Tipton, I hope you can give me a satisfactory explanation!"
"Sure!" Nora didn't hesitate and said, "If Maxwell is wrong, I will personally apologize tomorrow. But what if he is right?"
"Then, I'll leave it to Mrs. Tipton to decide!"
The people in the living room couldn't help shaking their heads. Brody's reputation was renowned throughout the country, and yet this young punk Maxwell dared to question the medicine he prescribed. It was simply reckless! It seemed that Nora, the top beauty of Delington, was going to lose face because of this man.
Hudson reached out to the servant and said, "Give me the medicine."
Maxwell shook his head and responded, "You're courting death! You're seeking death!"
Hudson didn't even glance at Maxwell and gulped down a big bowl of medicine.
The living room fell silent.
After about half an hour, Hudson's complexion changed from pale to flushed, and his eyes became lively. He laughed heartily and replied, "Indeed, he's a divine doctor! I feel much better now, and I have strength again! Doctor Cooper, I'll remember your kindness!"
"Oh, it's nothing," Brody hastily said, "Treating patients is the duty of a physician!"
After speaking, he coldly looked at Maxwell and Nora again, "Kid, what do you say now? Mrs. Tipton, tomorrow I'll be waiting at the clinic for your visit!"
The living room echoed with mocking laughter.
"Mrs. Tipton, what a pity! She's been embarrassed by the man she brought."
"He's so arrogant at such a young age, daring to question the divine doctor. He deserves to lose!"
"I wonder what Mr. Tipton would think when he hears about this. Will he be disappointed?"
Maxwell smirked and said, "It's a last-ditch struggle."
Hudson's eyes flashed with coldness as he asked, "Kid, are you implying that I'm dying?"
"Yes! You're in your last moments."
"Shut up!" Brody was furious and continued, "You little brat, if it weren't for Mrs. Tipton's sake, I would teach you a lesson right now!"
The people from the Harrison family were also very angry. He was cursing Hudson to death!
Lily said without hesitation, "Nora, we also need a reasonable explanation for today's events. Our family has always been generous to yours, but we didn't expect this from you!"
Timothy had already called several security guards, ready to escort Nora and Maxwell out.
Nora just smiled faintly and responded, "I absolutely believe in Maxwell's medical skills. What he says must be correct! Maxwell, how long does Hudson have left?"
Maxwell made a gesture.
Nora nodded and responded, "Alright, he still has ten days."
"Ten days?" Brody sneered, "Then I'll wait ten days. If Hudson is fine by then, Mrs. Tipton, don't forget your promise! At that time, I will invite prominent figures from Delington to witness!"
Everyone showed expressions of schadenfreude. Nora was about to lose face in front of the entire Delington. Watching the top beauty of Delington embarrass herself publicly would be quite interesting!
"It's not ten days! It's..." Maxwell paused.
"Nine!"
"Eight!"
"Seven!"
...
Everyone was stunned, not knowing what he was talking about. Had this kid lost his mind out of shame?
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"Ah!" Before the last word fell, Hudson suddenly turned pale. He clutched his chest and fell to the ground before trembling in pain and struggling to breathe with shallow breaths and feeble gasps. It seemed like he was about to give up.
"Mr. Harrison! Mr. Harrison!" Lily urged anxiously, "Doctor Cooper, Doctor Cooper! Save my father quickly!"
No pulse!
For a moment, he turned pale, feeling like his world had collapsed.
This was the foremost figure in Delington power nexus! Brody had actually killed him!
His reputation was ruined! Whether he could survive the anger of the Harrison family was another matter.
Seeing Brody stunned, Lily urged, "Doctor Cooper, Doctor Cooper! Save him! Quickly!"
Brody sighed and said, "I... I can't do anything."
"What? Then what should we do? He..."
Timothy grabbed Brody's collar and yelled, "Stop standing there! Save my dad!"
Brody closed his eyes and said, "Forgive me... I... I can't do anything..."
"If you can't save my dad, I won't spare you!"
With a sigh, Brody sat down on the ground.
At this moment, Hudson was already at death's door. He seemed to have used up all his strength, raised his hand, and pointed in Maxwell's direction weakly, his voice barely audible, "Save... save... me..."
After speaking, his arm went limp, and he ceased all movement.
"Dad!"
"Hudson! Wake up! Wake up!"
"Mr. Harrison! Hey!"
...
Everyone panicked, and chaos ensued.
"Why bother? Why didn't you believe me earlier..." Maxwell sneered, looking as if he were watching a play.
Suddenly, Timothy turned his head and rushed toward Maxwell, grabbing his leg and said, "Please, save my dad! You must have a way, right?"
Maxwell smiled faintly and said, "Didn't you want to kick me out just now?"
"As long as you can save my dad, you'll be our Harrison family's benefactor!" Timothy shouted, "I'll publicly apologize to you on behalf of the Harrison family."
"No need to kneel," Maxwell nodded and continued, "Because of your filial piety, have them move aside a bit. Don't get in my way."
