Maxwell got the address and stood up, saying, "Nora, I have to go. There's trouble with Abigail."
"Go ahead. I heard it all," Nora waved her hand. "If you end up wearing a green hat, it'll embarrass our sect! By the way... in Delington, you have our support. You don't have to worry too much."
...
The private room at Skywater Grand Hotel was beautifully decorated, evoking the colors of spring in full bloom.
Abigail had already drunk quite a bit. Her face was flushed, and her eyes were misty. She looked even more alluring.
She looked at the three glasses of white wine in front of her, hesitating whether to pick them up or not.
Beside her, Avery looked worried. "Abigail, you can't drink anymore. If you do, you'll really be drunk."
Abigail took a deep breath, gritted her teeth, picked up a glass of wine, and said to Justin, the CEO of Skyward Bank opposite the table, "Mr. Martell, I'll drink these three glasses of wine. You must fulfill your promise."
"Of course!" Justin smiled and continuned, "I always keep my word."
"Great to hear that!"
After downing the three glasses, Abigail suppressed the turmoil in her stomach, trying hard to keep her mind clear. "Mr. Martell, how about it? Regarding the loan, I'll go to your bank tomorrow to process it."
The Jerome family's finances were already stretched to the breaking point, and as the CEO, Abigail knew the importance of this loan. If something went wrong, Jerome Group would be at risk of bankruptcy. Skyward Bank and the Jerome family had been cooperating happily for many years. Justin, the new CEO, had been causing trouble over this loan as if trying to assert dominance over the Jerome family.
To secure this loan, Abigail agreed to this drinking session, hoping to negotiate things at the table.
"Jerome, you're quite generous!" Justin chuckled and approached Abigail. "Three glasses of wine for ten thousand dollars each. Miss Jerome, when you come to the bank tomorrow, the thirty-thousand-dollar loan will be approved."
Abigail was stunned and said, "Mr. Martell! You... You're not trustworthy!"
Justin waved his hand and responded, "I've heard about the situation of Jerome Group. Your finances are almost depleted. There's always a risk of bankruptcy with such a lack of funds. For our bank to lend to your company, we would bear a great responsibility. Approving thirty thousand for you, as an old customer, is already being considerate."
Abigail trembled with anger.
Who did Justin think he was? Was he speaking like a human being?
Companies would borrow money when they were short! If they didn't need money, why bother?
She resisted the urge to smash the bottle of wine on Justin. "Mr. Martell, Jerome Group and your bank have always had a pleasant cooperation. Our repayments have always been timely."
"Hahaha!" Justin grinned and leaned towards Abigail, pointing at the half bottle of white wine on the table, saying, "Miss Jerome, you make sense. How about this? Finish this bottle of wine, and I'll approve your one hundred thousand loan. How about that?"
Abigail looked at the half bottle of white wine and rubbed her temples vigorously. She was already on the brink, and if she drank more, she would pass out.
"Abigail!" Avery hurriedly advised, "Don't drink anymore, you absolutely can't!"
Justin sneered, "Miss Larson, if you won't let Miss Jerome drink, do you want to drink? Alright then, bring a bottle for Miss Larson!"
Snap!
Justin's henchman slammed a bottle of white wine onto the table, pushing it in front of Avery.
"No, I'm allergic to alcohol. I can't drink at all!" Avery shook her head hurriedly. Even a sip of white wine would land her in the emergency room.
"Hmph, today I won't let you off!" Justin angrily said, "What do you mean by not letting Miss Jerome drink and not drinking yourself? Are you teasing me on purpose? Today, you must drink whether you like it or not! If you won't, I'll help you."
"Just a moment!" Abigail stopped Justin from grabbing the bottle. "Mr. Martell, don't force Avery! She really can't handle alcohol!"
"Hmph! Miss Jerome, the opportunity is yours!" Justin had a teasing expression as he sasked, "Can you seize it?"
"I..." Abigail picked up the bottle and replied, "I'll drink! I hope you'll keep your promise!"
"Abigail! No!" Avery grabbed Abigail's arm.
"You wench!" Justin raised his hand and slapped her, saying angrily, "Nagging nonsense! If you dare to nag again, the Larson family won't get a penny from the bank!"
Avery covered her face, looking aggrieved. She was the daughter of the Larson family, when had she ever been slapped by someone else? But even if she was angry, she didn't dare to say anything more. Behind Justin was not only a powerful family, but also connections to the power center of Delington. The Larson family couldn't afford to offend them.
"Avery, stop now!" Abigail added, "Mr. Martell, I'll drink this wine!"
Abigail gritted her teeth, picked up the bottle, and gulped it down.
Justin and his men applauded.
"Well done! Miss Jerome, you're good at drinking wine! You're a true woman!"
After finishing half the bottle, Abigail felt like a knife was cutting through her throat and stomach. The alcohol surged, her head felt heavy, and everything in front of her was blurry. She knew she was about to pass out. She endured the discomfort and said, "Mr. Martell, I'll go to your bank to handle the procedures tomorrow! Excuse me. Avery, let's go!"
With that, she grabbed Avery's arm and tried to leave.
Justin signaled, and two of his men immediately blocked the door.
Abigail was taken aback and asked, "Mr. Martell, what do you mean by this?"
Justin smirked, "Miss Jerome, you've your fill of drinks, but we haven't. Come on, let's have a few more drinks before you leave!"
With that, he reached out to grab Abigail. Today, he finally lured out the top beauty of Delington. He couldn't let her slip away for nothing! He must taste the body of this icy beauty.
"Stop it!" Avery was about to intervene but was grabbed by Justin's two henchmen. She finally screamed, "Let me go! Don't touch me!"
Justin said, "You take care of Avery! Hey, Beauty! Come to me!' Then, he lunged at Abigail again. "Let's have a good drink together!"
"Scram! Don't touch me!" Abigail dodged hastily, reaching for the bottle on the table without thinking, and hurled it at Justin.
Bang!
The bottle smashed heavily on Justin's head, drawing blood instantly.
"Ah! You wench!" Justin screamed in pain, "How dare you hit me! I'll play you to death today! What nonsense about being Delington's top beauty? I'll strip you naked and see if you're still proud!"
Avery's heart sank when she saw this. It was over! They had provoked this madman today! She was afraid their virginity would end here. Maxwell, oh! What on earth was he doing? Was your prowess this morning all fake?
Boom!
At that moment, the door of the private room was kicked open, and Maxwell walked in. Seeing Justin about to pounce on Abigail, he didn't hesitate to kick him away.
