With a sharp exhale, a dark silhouette materialized behind Ethan. In that split second, the crowd's pupils constricted, but swiftly returned to normal.
"A shadow? Is that a Battle Soul with a dark attribute? It's so peculiar!"
"Dark attribute Battle Souls are rare. Are we witnessing an influx of prodigies today?"
"It doesn't seem like a dark Battle Soul. Those are usually ominous and eerie. This shadow looks rather mundane, like the Fourth-grade Battle Soul Shadow!"
The crowd buzzed with speculation about Ethan's Battle Soul, with many pointing and whispering. Ethan occasionally glanced at Hunter and Robert, feeling a sense of unease.
"The Fourth-grade Battle Soul Shadow?" Hunter shook his head, showing no interest in such a rank.
"Just a Fourth-grade Battle Soul Shadow?" Hunter's voice, though not loud, echoed like thunder in Ethan's ears. Despite his inner turmoil, Ethan maintained a calm exterior.
"Impossible! If it's only a Fourth-grade Battle Soul, how could it absorb spiritual energy faster than me?" The Little Witch exclaimed, her disbelief evident.
Justin, standing nearby, simply furrowed his brow, refraining from comment.
"Some Fourth-grade Battle Souls are exceptional, progressing rapidly in the early stages but struggling to reach the Battle Ancestor realm in their lifetimes," Robert explained.
"Next one," Hunter waved dismissively, showing little interest in Ethan.
"Wait a moment," suddenly, Alan Norris, who had been silent, spoke up. "Dean, I'll join the War King Academy, but he must come too."
Hunter frowned. It wasn't unheard of for someone with a Fourth-grade Battle Soul to join the War King Academy, especially among the noble children of the Great Ysleve Dynasty.
However, he disliked being threatened by Alan. Even if Alan possessed a Grade Battle Soul, if he resorted to threats now, what about in the future?
"For some, even joining the War King Academy may not be advantageous," Hunter said, glancing pointedly at Ethan, as if to say, not everyone is suitable for the War King Academy.
"Yes, admission to the War King Academy isn't an open invitation," suddenly, a voice chimed in from the crowd, and Max Hudson strode forward, sneering at Ethan.
"Why are so many with only Fourth-grade Battle Souls allowed in?" Alan shot back, displeased.
"Because they're nobles!" Max declared firmly.
"So, nobility guarantees entry into the War King Academy?" Alan countered. "If that's the case, then I see no reason to join, as I've never been fond of nobles."
"Max, enough," Hunter's expression darkened at Alan's words. Losing such an opportunity would turn the War King Academy into a laughing stock.
Max took a deep breath. "You've misunderstood. It's not simply because they're nobles; rather, it's because their ancestors made significant contributions to the Great Ysleve Dynasty, so offering them benefits is justifiable. It's merely compensation."
"The contributions were made by their ancestors, not themselves. Moreover, they've enjoyed these benefits for generations," Alan retorted coldly, seemingly set on his decision.
Hunter was growing increasingly anxious, wanting to reprimand Max severely but held back due to the Hudson family's influence in Ysleve City.
"Young friend..." Hunter frowned, turning to Alan.
Unfortunately, Alan Norris is just as stubborn. Like his Battle Soul, he has a bull-headed temperament. He cut off Hunter directly and said, "No need to say more. I don't want to join the War King Academy. Even if you give me ten beauties, it's useless."
"Thanks, fatty, but I still won't join the War King Academy." Ethan looked at Alan gratefully, amazed that he withdrew from the academy for him.
"It's none of your business. I just don't want to join," Alan said with a smirk, as if he didn't care about it at all.
"Kid, did you provoke him?" Max suddenly pointed at Ethan, his eyes flashing with killing intent.
"So what if I did, so what if I didn't?" Ethan looked at Max with a smile, finding it amusing that he blamed him even though he did this upon himself.
"If you did, then die!" Max's expression turned cold as he walked towards Ethan step by step.
"He's just a defeated lackey. Who do you think you are trying to kill?" Ethan was also enraged. He didn't care about the Hudson family or enrolling into the War King Academy. He was going to die anyway, so he would drag one or two along with him for support.
"The people from the War King Academy are really powerful. They actually used Battle Emperor level cultivation to deal with me, a Battle Master from the Divine Wind Academy?" Suddenly, a powerful aura emanated from Robert Gibson's body, causing Max to retreat several steps.
"Grimy Gibson, do you really think my War King Academy is easy to bully? I could destroy your Divine Wind Academy in minutes. Do you believe it?" Seeing his students being bullied, Hunter was no longer calm.
Two mighty warriors, eyeing each other, their powerful auras colliding without moving.
The violent soul power surged in all directions, forcing many cultivators to retreat. Many were shaken to the core.
"To destroy my Divine Wind Academy. To say it arrogantly, even if the Great Ysleve Dynasty falls, Divine Wind Academy will still stand. Do you believe it?" Robert smirked coldly.
As soon as he spoke, a storm of shock erupted. The crowd looked at Robert in horror. Those were treasonous words, spoken boldly by Robert.
"Do you understand the consequences of your words?" Hunter's eyes were ice-cold.
"I don't care about the consequences. All I know is, if anyone messes with my Divine Wind Academy, I won't stand for it. I'll strike first," Robert declared dominantly.
All the surrounding cultivators were influenced by Robert's words. It was so domineering. Was this really the dean of the Divine Wind Academy that had been declining for hundreds of years?
"Are you two willing to join the Divine Wind Academy?" Robert Gibson suddenly turned his gaze to Ethan and Alan.
"Why wouldn't we? After all, by joining the Divine Wind Academy, we can still mingle with the beauties of the War King Academy," Alan laughed, never forgetting about the beauties of the War King Academy.
"I am," Ethan said, taking a deep breath. Although he knew Robert and Hunter were at odds, this was also an opportunity for him.
What he lacked most now were cultivation techniques. There must be a reason why the Divine Wind Academy had stood in Ysleve City for countless years. At least, it was much better than practicing alone. If he was lucky, he might even obtain one or two cultivation techniques.
"Quackish Quinn, did you hear that?" Robert grinned. "From now on, the four of them are students of my Divine Wind Academy. If they beat you, I'll handle it. If you beat them, don't blame me for intervening."
"Elder, does the Divine Wind Academy still need people? We're willing to join," many cultivators exclaimed excitedly.
"Anyone who has awakened at least a Battle Soul can come to the Divine Wind Academy to find me," Robert said calmly, waving his hand. A powerful force lifted Ethan and the others, shooting them into the sky, and they disappeared from the square in the blink of an eye.
