After an unknown amount of time, "Azure Dragon" finally regained consciousness. His head felt as if it were splitting apart, and every inch of his body throbbed with pain, as though he had been struck by a fighter jet. Yet, he endured without making a sound. Having undergone the most stringent training of the Huaxia Country, this level of pain was insufficient to shatter his rock-solid will.
He began by slowly moving his heavy eyelids, then suddenly opened his eyes, their sharp gleam flashing like captivating lightning. Perhaps it was the long slumber, but the unfamiliar brightness was painfully sharp to his eyes.
After a brief adjustment, he immediately surveyed his surroundings with a vigilant gaze. Years of life-and-death experiences had honed his instinct to first assess the environment. Based on his surroundings, he would devise appropriate strategies, a routine practice in his missions.
Observing the assorted equipment and instruments around him, and then the IV drip hanging nearby, he deduced that he was in a hospital room, and judging from the luxurious decor, it was likely a deluxe or VIP hospital room.
"I actually didn't die?" That was his first thought. Surviving such an explosion? Was I rescued after being critically injured?
He wanted to laugh, to laugh heartily, hardly believing his own extraordinary survival. Was it the old saying coming true - "bad weeds grow tall"? Was he the "weed"? Perhaps he was, at least to his enemies, he certainly was a menace!
He shook his heavy head, trying to ascertain if he was dreaming. This action aggravated the pain in his head, like thousands of sharp needles piercing his brain. Such an intense pain, emanating from the depths of his soul, was almost unbearable even for someone like him. Clenching his teeth, he forced himself not to make any sound. As the unbearable pain surged, strange memories flooded his mind, memories that didn't belong to him.
The pain, as sudden and intense as a summer thunderstorm, quickly subsided. Although it lasted only for a few seconds, it drained all his remaining strength, leaving his body soaked in sweat, almost causing him to collapse.
As he recovered from the intense pain, his mind cleared, and the memories became distinct – Alexander Xu, that was the name of the owner of these unfamiliar memories.
Subconsciously, he glanced at his arm, still attached to various tubes, and a look of horror crossed his eyes. This was definitely not his arm! His arm should be muscular, exuding explosive strength, not this slender and delicate. It clearly belonged to that pampered Young Master he saw in the memories.
This discovery made him tense, and he quickly braced himself against the pain to move closer to a mirror nearby.
The face that greeted him was completely unfamiliar, yet it was the face of "Alexander Xu" from his memories. The face, now bruised and swollen like a pig's head, with a bandage wrapped around the head, was hardly recognizable.
"Clang..."
He collapsed back onto the hospital bed, momentarily forgetting his physical pain.
What was happening? How could his soul have ended up in the body of this Young Master? A soul transfer? Or soul transmigration? Even with his rigorous training, he was shaken by this unbelievable occurrence.
It's not something anyone could remain calm about. Despite his unique background, where he had heard many extraordinary tales and witnessed bizarre events beyond scientific explanation, he had never encountered a soul transfer. This was beyond his understanding.
He wasn't supposed to be Alexander Xu; his code name was "Azure Dragon". He had forgotten his real name; for him, "Azure Dragon" was his identity. Along with him, there were four others, nameless like him, known only by their code names - "Golden Tiger", "Iron Leopard", "Firebird", and "Torrential Rain".
They were part of the most powerful and mysterious unit of the Huaxia Country Military – the "Law Enforcers".
Only a handful of people knew of this organization's existence, not more than ten, including its founders. Those who knew of them were individuals whose mere actions could shake the land of Huaxia Country.
A few days ago, he received a mission to go to an uninhabited island in the Pacific to destroy the enemy's genetic warrior laboratory. He was not the first to do this kind of mission, so he was naturally familiar with it. However, after several days of lurking and successfully entering the laboratory, he realized that this was a complete trap! There is no genetic warrior laboratory mentioned in the intelligence here at all, only two small nuclear bombs prepared for him!
The five members of the "Law Enforcers" organization, although each possessing immense strength, stood no chance against nuclear bombs.
He knew he had been betrayed, but among the few people aware of the organization's existence, none seemed to have a reason to take his life. These individuals were the elders of the state, and it would be self-defeating for them to attack a member of the "Law Enforcers". Then who could it be? Who knew of his existence and why go to such lengths to destroy him?
While he was still thinking about these things, the door to the ward was hurriedly pushed open, and then, a woman who looked to be only about thirty years old stumbled in. This is a beautiful woman, and the years have not left many traces on her face. Even though she seems a little distracted at the moment, she still cannot hide her charming style.
Had it been anyone else, they might have been captivated by the woman's grace. But he knew that this woman was actually forty-six years old. She just looked younger due to her excellent self-care.
Why did he know the woman's age so precisely? Because she was none other than Grace Fang, the mother of the body's original owner, Alexander Xu.
"Alexander, you're awake? Are you really awake?" Grace Fang suddenly saw her son, who had his eyes open and was looking at her. She was struck with disbelief, tears streaming down her face uncontrolled. She hadn't even wiped her tears of joy away when she rushed forward to grasp her son's hand, muttering words of gratitude to the heavens.
Suddenly someone held his hand, and he instinctively wanted to take it out, but he suddenly remembered that he was no longer the powerful "Azure Dragon". He was now Alexander Xu, a notorious playboy and spoiled scion of a wealthy family.
Perhaps it was the many years without maternal affection, or maybe it was the lingering spirit of Alexander in his mind, but he eventually chose not to withdraw his hand.
Given a second chance at life by fate, he decided to live well. This new identity would undoubtedly be of great use in investigating the conspiracy against him. No one would expect the formidable "Azure Dragon" to now be a playboy. While his life might not be valuable to some, he decided to cherish it. Whoever wanted his life would have to be prepared for his retaliation.
The enemies he was about to face might be more powerful than he could imagine, but he was ready to fight back.
Alexander Xu opened his mouth, but the word "Mom" just felt too foreign to say. From his earliest memories, the concept of a mother was absent, let alone understanding what maternal love was.
Grace Fang didn't notice the oddity in her son's behavior. She excitedly called out to the corridor, "Doctor, doctor, come quickly, my son has woken up…"
Accompanied by a flurry of footsteps, several doctors entered the room, their faces filled with disbelief upon seeing Alexander Xu with his eyes open.
This was a man who had been written off by all the experts in the hospital. If not for the Xu family's generous payment, they wouldn't have even bothered treating him. The condition he was in when admitted was horrific, with severe organ damage and a serious concussion. How could he possibly survive such injuries?
This man is also a genius. Even though he was beaten into a bear shape, he still protected his lower body with his hands. That was the only part of his body that was not injured! It shows how seriously this man takes that thing!
The doctors, thinking they were witnessing a miracle, examined Alexander Xu and conferred among themselves. Eventually, an older doctor announced, "Madam Xu, I am pleased to inform you that your son is no longer in life-threatening danger. His internal organs are recovering at an unprecedented rate, and he should be able to leave the hospital soon."
Having been a doctor for decades, he had never seen such a phenomenon. A man destined to die was alive and recovering at an astonishing speed. If he wasn't an atheist, he might have believed that the young man was blessed by the gods.
Hearing that her son was out of danger, Grace Fang's face lit up with joy, her tears of excitement never stopping. She felt she couldn't have lived without her son. These past few days, she had even contemplated suicide.
Observing Grace Fang's emotions, Alexander Xu sighed internally. The saying "overly indulgent mothers make for ruined sons" seemed apt. He could guess without even sorting through Alexander's memories that much of his downfall was likely due to her excessive pampering.
"Strict teachers produce brilliant students, and discipline brings forth filial sons." These were the words of the old man who taught him the "Dragon's Command". Reflecting on it now, he found truth in those words.
Had his soul not occupied this body, Alexander Xu would have probably been long dead. Should he be thankful to Alexander Xu, or should Alexander Xu be thankful to him? The two men, both destined to die, were now strangely bound together in life.
Footsteps approached the door again. Alexander Xu looked up, a bitter smile on his lips. The visitor was none other than his father, William Xu!
