William and Grace sat together with Alexander, looking at the news in the newspaper. They found it hard to believe. Others might not know, but did they not know that the destruction of the Blood Wolf Squad and the Li Family was all orchestrated by their own son? When did their son acquire such power?
"Alexander, aren't you going to explain to your mother and me?" William sighed. He realized he could no longer see through his son.
Alexander gave a faint smile, put down the newspaper, and said, "You don't have to worry. No matter how I change, I will always be your son!"
Grace gripped his hand, full of worry, and asked, "The newspaper says that the military used missiles to attack the Blood Wolf Squad's headquarters. Where did you get these things? Do you know, if the state finds out, you could be executed? Your father and I only have you as a son. Please don't do these things, okay?"
She was really worried about her son. The son of the past, though not on the right path, seldom faced life-threatening dangers. But now, with such a huge commotion caused by her son, what if he was found out by the authorities? Even if he knew martial arts and had a group of formidable people under him, what use would that be against a large army?
"Alright, you two don't need to worry!" Alexander reassured them with a comforting smile. "Since I am doing these things, I certainly have my reasons and confidence. Moreover, this is just the beginning. There will be more to come. If you're so worried now, how will you cope later? Don't worry, I know what I'm doing!"
William looked at his son's calm face, wanting to question further but eventually didn't. He knew even if he asked, he wouldn't get any answers. His son had grown up and had his own thoughts, and there was nothing they as parents could do. Sighing, he said, "Since you have your own judgment, just go ahead. No matter what, I hope you will be careful. I don't want to experience the pain of losing a child again."
Alexander nodded, patted their hands, and reassured them. Seeing that her husband had given up on questioning, Grace also wisely kept quiet.
"I'm going to the police station to take care of Andrew's affairs..." Hannah changed into fresh clothes, came down from upstairs, and sat opposite Alexander, her eyes were still swollen but her complexion was much better than yesterday's pallor.
Seeing her in this dazed state, Alexander felt a pang of pain in his heart and said, "Amelia He has disappeared. I was planning to handle Jeremy's affairs, so I'll accompany you."
At the mention of Jeremy, Hannah sighed deeply. She hadn't expected that Jeremy would die avenging Andrew. Only a day had passed since she tasked Jeremy with handling Andrew's affairs, and now others had to take care of Jeremy's. What an irony!
"You don't have to go. Since you're going there anyway, just take care of Jeremy's affairs too. Have someone look for Amelia. He only had her as family..." Hannah suggested.
"No!" Alexander refused assertively, "Although the Blood Wolf Squad and the Li Family are destroyed, we can't guarantee there are no survivors. I can't be at peace with you going alone."
"Aren't there bodyguards?" Hannah offered a forced smile.
"Uh..." Alexander was momentarily speechless, then asserted, "I don't trust their abilities. You know, they're not as capable as me! Besides, I really admire Jeremy. I won't feel at ease if I don't go myself."
Alexander knew that Hannah now held an important place in his heart, even more significant than the former Alexander's view of her. He couldn't help wanting to be close to her, while also cursing himself for being shameless in his heart. Andrew had just passed away, and Hannah was still his cousin. How could he have such thoughts? In the end, he could only blame the lingering feelings of the playboy he used to be.
"Alright, then let's go now," Hannah reluctantly agreed, unable to argue with him.
Watching their figures leave, Grace worriedly sighed, "Hannah has such a hard life, sigh!"
"Yes," William agreed, his face showing a bitter smile, "Our life is even harder! We worried when our child was unsuccessful, and now that he's finally achieved something, we worry even more!"
"As parents, aren't we born to worry? I better go check on Evelyn. I don't know how long we can keep this from her, sigh!" Grace sighed and patted her husband's hand, then went upstairs to check on their sleeping granddaughter.
The two went to the police station to collect Andrew's belongings. Since they weren't Jeremy's relatives, they couldn't receive his belongings. Samuel Li, who had just been appointed Acting Mayor, consoled Hannah and informed them that a memorial service for Andrew and Jeremy would be held in a few days, and they would be notified to attend.
Leaving with heavy hearts, they were just about to exit the police station when a camouflaged military vehicle blocked their way.
"Hey, beauty, can I get your number?" A head popped out of the military vehicle, wearing a sleazy smile.
Recognizing the man, Alexander was startled and then bitterly smiled, realizing the magnitude of the recent events — even they had come.
He knew this man — many would feel an urge to punch him, especially with his characteristic smug grin. He was known as the Lustful Serpent.
Lustful Serpent, a member of the Dragon Group!
Seeing that even the Lustful Serpent had arrived, Alexander guessed other members of the Dragon Group were likely present too.
Hannah was annoyed but before she could speak, Alexander shouted at the Lustful Serpent, "Get lost, a good dog doesn't block the way!"
Since it was an acquaintance, there was no need for politeness. The Lustful Serpent was often scolded, but most who did so ended up dead by his hand. However, Alexander wasn't worried.
The Lustful Serpent was angry, irked at being insulted upon his arrival in Tianhai. Just as he was about to lash out, he was stopped by a cold voice from the back seat, "Drive!"
Hearing the voice, the Lustful Serpent immediately lost his temper, glared at Alexander, defiantly flicked his middle finger at him, and then drove the vehicle into the police station.
"Let's go. Don't bother with this kind of ruffian," Alexander said with a slight smile and drove away with Hannah.
After entering the police station, three people alighted from the vehicle, including a woman.
She was a stunningly cold beauty, with eyes like millennia-old ice, a high nose bridge accentuating her sharp features, and a beautiful yet stern face that exuded an icy aura. Few women could make a military uniform look stylish, but she did, as if it were tailor-made for her.
However, her waist-length hair seemed out of place with the uniform.
Female military personnel aren't allowed to have long hair — a rule in all of Huaxia's armed forces. But she could, being a member of the Dragon Group. It was her privilege and also a weapon, often overlooked yet deadly.
The trio's arrival at the police station drew curious glances — a cold beauty, a sleazy man, and an expressionless 'wooden' man. Such a combination was bound to attract attention.
Samuel was packing his things, preparing to move to the city government office. He still had some personal items here.
"Knock, knock..." A clear knocking sound interrupted his thoughts.
"Come in!"
A police officer peeked in, "Chief, oh, Mayor, three comrades are here to see you."
Samuel had just been appointed Acting Mayor that morning, and many hadn't adjusted to addressing him accordingly.
"Let them in," Samuel paused his packing and tidied his somewhat messy desk.
When he saw the three people enter, his lips twitched slightly. He tried not to appear amused and asked solemnly, "May I know who you are and why you're here?"
The cold beauty stepped forward and said indifferently, "You have no right to know our identities. We're here to ask you some questions."
Her tone was commanding, leaving no room for discussion.
Samuel's expression soured slightly. Since becoming the Chief, few had spoken to him in such a tone, and now as the newly appointed Mayor, he was even more unused to it. Sitting up straight, he replied firmly, "If I have no right to know your identities, then you have no right to question me. Please leave."
"The hell, a mere chief dares to be so arrogant?!" The Lustful Serpent, infuriated, was about to attack but was stopped by a glance from the cold beauty. He sullenly retreated, glaring at Samuel.
He dared to be bold in front of Samuel, but he didn't dare to disrespect the woman. Otherwise, he'd surely be bedridden for a month.
The cold beauty dialed a number on her phone, "Director, may we disclose our identities to the head of the Tianhai City Bureau?"
"Yes," came a stern, aged voice from the phone.
After hanging up, she took out her credentials and handed them to Samuel, commanding, "Our identities are top secret. Your knowledge is sufficient, and you must not disclose it to anyone else. Violation will result in military prosecution."
Samuel puzzled, nodded and took the credentials, quickly standing up and extending his hand, "Welcome! I apologize for earlier..."
"No need for apologies. We just have a few questions. We hope you'll cooperate with our work," the cold beauty didn't intend to shake his hand.
Samuel retracted his hand angrily, feeling angry in his heart, but when facing these people, he could only hold back his anger no matter how strong it was! He nodded and said, "You can ask whatever you want, and I will definitely cooperate!"
