Avery was stunned upon hearing the name "Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower."
"Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower?"
Greg nodded. "Yes, for this matter, we must seek help from Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower."
Avery fell into deep thought. She knew all too well about the mysterious high-end club that operated behind the scenes in Skyward State. The Tower was only accessible to internal members, and those who could associate with it were immensely powerful figures. Even her father, Greg, had spent nearly two years earning his place as a member.
Moreover, the Skyward State branch of Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower was just a part of the larger organization. No one truly knew where its headquarters were located. What was more terrifying was the influence of its members. Many were top-tier elites in the province, and some had connections even in the imperial capital.
The fact that the Cooper family could call on Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower's assistance was a testament to their power.
Avery gritted her teeth. "Alright, let's contact them immediately. I want revenge for my brother!"
…
On the other side of town, Jonathan had returned to the villa with Isabella.
As soon as they walked through the door, Ella rushed forward, embracing Isabella tightly.
"Are you alright? I was scared to death!" Ella cried out.
Isabella smiled gently. "I'm fine, thanks to Jonathan. He saved me."
Ella let go of her and looked suspiciously at Jonathan. "Him? Thank God nothing happened. But really, did he save you?"
Jonathan was taken aback. What was with this woman? She always seemed to have a problem with him and never missed a chance to speak ill of him to Isabella.
"What's that supposed to mean? Of course, I saved her!" Jonathan shot back, his confusion mounting.
Ella crossed her arms, unimpressed. "Am I wrong? If it weren't for you, Isabella wouldn't have been kidnapped in the first place."
Jonathan's temper flared. He knew, deep down, that if it weren't for him, Isabella wouldn't have been caught in the crossfire with the Cooper family. This incident only deepened his resolve. He swore to himself that he would never allow her to be endangered again.
"Okay, Ella, you can't entirely blame Jonathan for what happened," Isabella interjected quickly, trying to ease the tension.
Ella wasn't swayed. "You're too kind, Isabella. Ever since he showed up, how much trouble has he brought into our lives?"
Jonathan, now truly angry, countered, "What do you mean by that? All the trouble comes from those jerks messing with me first. Don't make me the bad guy!"
"You—!"
Ella's eyes widened, ready to argue, but Isabella stepped in again to stop her.
"Ella, calm down. Jonathan's a victim here too."
Ella huffed and threw up her hands. "Fine! I'll let it go this time. But mark my words, if this happens again, I won't be so forgiving. Now, both of you rest. Don't worry about anything regarding the hospital—I'll handle it all."
Isabella smiled appreciatively. "Thank you."
Ella gave Jonathan one last disapproving glance before storming upstairs. Jonathan couldn't help but glare back, wishing he could give her a piece of his mind.
Sitting on the sofa, Isabella turned to Jonathan and asked, "Jonathan, what's going on between you and the Cooper family?"
Jonathan didn't hold anything back. He explained everything that had happened, how his feud with the Cooper family had escalated, and what had led to the recent events.
After hearing the full story, Isabella sighed, feeling a headache coming on. She hadn't realized how deeply Jonathan and the Cooper family were embroiled in a fight to the death.
"No, you can't stay in Skyward State any longer," Isabella said, panic rising in her voice. "The Cooper family won't let this slide. They'll retaliate, and they'll come after you."
Jonathan shook his head. "I'm not leaving. The Cooper family can't kill me, and I'm not afraid of them."
To him, the Cooper family were just a bunch of thugs. They posed no real threat. Besides, if he left, what would happen to Isabella?
"Why won't you listen to reason?" Isabella said, her frustration evident.
"I'll listen to you on anything else, but not this. I'm not leaving."
Seeing his stubborn resolve, Isabella felt even more anxious. Jonathan had no idea how dangerous the Cooper family could be, and she feared that he would be putting himself in grave danger by staying. But seeing that he wasn't going to budge, she realized she would need to find someone capable of protecting him.
She then asked, "How much have you learned from the skills taught by the master?"
Jonathan puffed up his chest proudly. "I've mastered the Taiyi Divine Needle, and the Elder Female Master even gave me her silver needle."
Isabella's eyes widened in surprise. "You've mastered the Taiyi Divine Needle?"
She knew how demanding the conditions for learning that skill were. She hadn't expected Jonathan to have reached such a level.
"Yes, it's not easy. Want me to teach you?" Jonathan asked playfully.
Isabella shook her head. "No, if the master taught you alone, she must have had her reasons. But you have to attend the Traditional Medicine Conference with me the day after tomorrow."
Jonathan frowned. "A conference? I'm not interested. It sounds boring."
"Didn't you just promise me you'd do anything I asked, except leaving Skyward State?" Isabella reminded him, a smile playing on her lips.
Jonathan sighed in defeat. "Fine, I'll go."
Isabella smiled brightly. "Good. Stay here with me for the next couple of days, and we'll go together."
Jonathan nodded, though reluctantly.
As she looked at him, Isabella thought to herself, "Jonathan, I know you don't like this, but I have no other choice. To protect you, I have to force you to do some things you won't enjoy. Please don't hold it against me."
The Traditional Chinese Medicine Conference was a prestigious event, held every three years by the doctors of Skyward State. Famous doctors from across the region attended, and the conference attracted countless important figures seeking medical treatment. Isabella planned to use the event to introduce Jonathan to some powerful allies. With such connections, even the Cooper family would think twice before acting against him.
…
At the Peacock Lake in the east of Skyward State, an ancient oriental pavilion stood at the head of the lake. It was one of the few preserved historic buildings in the area, and the lake itself was an artificially excavated tourist spot, named for its resemblance to a peacock's shape.
At the "peacock's head" of the lake, stood the grand five-story pavilion, home to thirty private rooms and nearly two hundred parking spaces. This private venue was owned by none other than Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower.
Several black vehicles pulled into the parking lot, and a man and woman stepped out. It was Greg and Avery, having rushed over after settling Joshua in the hospital.
Inside the lobby on the first floor of Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower, a woman in a black cheongsam stood up to greet them. She had an alluring figure and a beautiful face, with a small red mole between her brows that added a touch of mystique to her charm.
This woman was Serena, the boss of Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower.
Since the establishment of Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower three years ago, Serena had quickly become a goddess-like figure in the eyes of the elite, though no one knew her true background. Her influence and means were a mystery, making her all the more untouchable.
"Master Cooper, what brings you here in such a hurry?" Serena greeted with a slight smile.
Greg cupped his hands respectfully. "Serena, this matter is of great importance. Naturally, I had to come in a rush."
He knew better than to underestimate the woman in front of him. While she appeared charming, she was as dangerous as she was beautiful. Any man who had foolishly thought otherwise had lived to regret it.
"Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower is always open for business. We pride ourselves on providing the best service to our clients. Please, follow me," Serena said, turning gracefully to lead them upstairs.
Once seated in a private room on the second floor, tea was poured for them, and Serena took a sip before speaking.
"So, what's this urgent matter?" she asked with a smile.
Greg took a deep breath before answering. "I wonder... have you ever heard of a man named Jonathan Chu?"
