Andrew's loud voice immediately drew attention from those around them. Jonathan, ever unbothered, turned and raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Well, well, look who's here. You two again."
"Country bumpkin! What did you just call us?" Andrew shot back, clearly agitated.
Jonathan shrugged, his tone dripping with disdain. "Bitches, obviously."
The crowd murmured in shock, whispers spreading quickly among onlookers.
"Isn't that David Tang, the head of the Tang Family, and his granddaughter Abigail? And Andrew Liu, too?"
"Did that guy seriously just call the Young Master of the Liu Family and Miss Tang bitches? Is he insane?"
Ignoring the growing crowd, Abigail frowned, her voice cold. "Jonathan, what are you doing here?"
Jonathan crossed his arms, unimpressed. "What I'm doing is none of your concern. But looks like you finally decided to take your grandpa to see a doctor, huh?"
It was clear to Jonathan that David's illness was progressing. But he knew there wasn't a soul who could heal him—except, of course, himself.
David, unwilling to acknowledge the severity of his condition, snorted. "I'm perfectly fine. Don't talk nonsense, boy."
Jonathan chuckled softly. "Keep telling yourself that, old man. Let's see if you're still saying that in a few days. Just don't come crawling to me for help."
Andrew's eyes flashed with anger. "Do you think you're the only one who can cure him? We've already arranged for Dr. Wu's master to treat Grandpa. You're nothing compared to him."
Abigail stepped forward, her gaze icy. "You might think you're important, Jonathan, but you're nothing. Once my grandfather recovers, you'll learn the consequences of crossing us."
Jonathan couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. Dr. Wu's master? That's me.
Amused, he folded his arms and leaned back, watching the siblings. To him, they were like performers in a ridiculous play.
Samuel, noticing the tension, quickly stepped in. "It seems there's been some misunderstanding here."
"Misunderstanding? There's no misunderstanding!" Andrew snapped. "This guy is just a nobody. He doesn't belong here."
Abigail ignored Jonathan entirely, turning her attention to Samuel. "Now, where's your master?"
Samuel, with a calm expression, replied, "My master is already here."
"What?" Abigail's eyes lit up, her voice rising with hope. "Where is he?"
Just then, Samuel walked over to Jonathan and stood respectfully in front of him. "Master, you're here."
A wave of shock rippled through the crowd.
"What... how can this guy be Dr. Wu's master?"
"This can't be true! He's too young!"
"I must be seeing things!"
Despite the growing disbelief, Samuel remained composed. "Jonathan is my master," he stated firmly.
Andrew was the first to lash out. "No! He's lying! Jonathan's just a nobody from the countryside. Dr. Wu, you must be mistaken!"
Samuel's expression didn't falter. "There is no mistake. He is indeed my master."
Whispers of disbelief flooded the area as people processed the shocking news. Abigail clenched her fists, furious. How could Jonathan, a country bumpkin, hold such power?
David, equally stunned, closed his eyes, his mind reeling. Could it be that he had been wrong all along?
Jonathan glanced at Samuel, unimpressed. "What's going on, old man?"
Hearing Jonathan call Samuel "old man" sent ripples of shock through the crowd, but Samuel didn't flinch. "Master, they asked me to treat this illness, but I couldn't. I had to ask for your help."
Jonathan eyed David before turning his attention back to Samuel. "I could treat the old man," Jonathan said casually, "but it'll cost them."
Abigail and Andrew froze in surprise.
"You're willing to treat him?" David's voice trembled with a hint of hope.
Jonathan's expression didn't change. "Sure. But I want half of your property and a public apology. Take it or leave it."
"Absolutely not!" Abigail spat without hesitation.
Jonathan raised an eyebrow, amused. "You're quick to refuse, huh? Good job, Abigail. So much for being a loving granddaughter."
"Grandpa, I didn't mean..." Abigail stammered, realizing her impulsive response.
David patted her hand, his face hardening as he turned to Jonathan. "I'd rather die than apologize to you."
Jonathan smirked, his eyes gleaming with indifference. "Fine by me. Just don't come running back when it's too late."
Ignoring them, Jonathan turned back to Samuel. "Let's see your acupuncture skills, old man. Show me what you've got."
Samuel quickly set up a chair for Jonathan while he began treating patients under his master's watchful eye.
Jonathan offered sharp critiques throughout the session. "Wrong! That needle needs to go into the Zhongting Acupoint, not there!" he barked. "Keep your hands steady. Precision is key!" He continued, pushing Samuel to improve.
The surrounding crowd watched in awe, unable to believe what they were witnessing. Samuel Wu, a renowned miracle doctor, was being reprimanded like a novice.
Yet Samuel only nodded, grateful for the feedback. He respected Jonathan's medical prowess and saw his advice as invaluable.
As Samuel finished, a voice suddenly called out, "Dr. Wu, can you help my sister?"
Both Jonathan and Samuel looked up to see two beautiful women walking over.
Samuel smiled. "Miss Leigh."
Jonathan's eyes shifted to Grace, but when his gaze landed on the woman beside her, he couldn't look away.
She's stunning... Jonathan thought, completely captivated.
Serena, seemingly used to the attention, ignored the onlookers' stares. Grace, however, wasn't as composed. She glared at the crowd, snapping, "What are you staring at? Have you never seen beautiful women before?"
She then turned her attention to Jonathan. "You liar! What are you doing here at the conference?"
Jonathan raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. "Who are you calling a liar, stupid?"
Grace clenched her fists. "You! I should call the Medicine Association right now and have you kicked out!"
"Go ahead, try. But what about you? Here for some treatment? Breast enlargement?" Jonathan asked, his gaze drifting to her chest, followed by a disappointed shake of his head.
"You bastard!" Grace snapped, lunging forward in anger.
Serena quickly grabbed her arm, calming her down. "Grace, enough. Stop causing a scene."
Jonathan sat back, smirking. "This your friend, Serena?"
Serena looked him up and down, her interest piqued. She had investigated Jonathan recently and found him intriguing.
With a graceful step forward, Serena introduced herself. "Hello, I'm Serena."
Jonathan barely glanced at her, leaning back in his chair. "Yeah, yeah. Move aside. You're blocking my view."
Serena smiled politely. She could see right through Jonathan's playful exterior. "Rest assured, Mr. Chu. I have no ill intentions."
Jonathan eyed her warily. She's sharp. Too sharp.
Serena's calm demeanor didn't falter, but Grace wasn't done. "Don't dream of seducing my boss!" Grace snapped.
"Who said anything about seducing? You don't have anything going on yourself, so why not let others admire the view?" Jonathan teased.
Grace seethed with anger. "I'm a reserve employee of Cloud-Flipping Rain Tower! Watch yourself!"
Jonathan chuckled. "How about you apologize to me right now, and I'll let it slide?"
"In your dreams!" Grace spat, grabbing Serena's arm. "Serena, let's not waste time with this liar."
As they turned to leave, Jonathan called after them, "Don't say I didn't warn you. If you don't get that checked out soon, Serena, you might not live past thirty."
