Why are they here?
Seeing Andrew and his group, Jonathan was momentarily stunned.
At that moment, Luna sneered, "So you came here to freeload? A bumpkin like you, and you still dared to propose to my family? Do you even deserve it?"
"Even if you were free, I wouldn't bother with you. What makes you think you can talk nonsense in front of me?" Jonathan retorted with disdain.
"You!"
Just then, a young man stepped forward, saying, "I heard there was some shameless fool who tried to propose to the Tatham family. I didn't expect to run into him so soon. You're from the countryside, right? This isn't your home, so you better watch your behavior!"
The speaker was Joshua Cropper, another wealthy heir in Skyward State, just like Andrew.
"And who are you? So what if I'm from the countryside? Did I steal your food or take your wife? Go ask your father if your ancestors didn't come from the countryside too!" Jonathan shot back.
Joshua narrowed his eyes slightly, "Mr. Lewis, you were right. This guy is quite arrogant."
Andrew sneered, "He's just a bumpkin. I'll deal with him; don't let him ruin our fun."
"Haha, hold on a second. This is too entertaining to pass up," Joshua said, looking at Jonathan. "Listen, kid, I'm in a good mood today, so I'll give you a chance to live. You said you could pay, right? Order whatever you want. If you can settle the bill, I'll let you go. If not... don't blame me if you end up leaving here on a stretcher."
As he finished speaking, four bodyguards stepped forward behind Joshua, each one built like a tank.
Jonathan's eyes narrowed slightly, "Are you threatening me, you little shit?"
"Shut up! How dare you speak to Mr. Cropper like that!" Andrew shouted.
Luna smirked, "Jonathan, don't say I didn't warn you. Mr. Cropper is powerful in Skyward State. If you offend him, you won't live to see tomorrow!"
"You think you lot can stop me? And who told you I can't pay? I can cover the bill just fine!" Jonathan declared.
"Hahaha! Did you hear that? He thinks he can cover the bill?"
"Look at those ragged clothes. I bet they're not even worth a hundred bucks. This is the Goldkeep Hotel, one of the top ten most expensive in Skyward State. A single dish here costs thousands!"
"As expected, he's a bumpkin who doesn't know his place!"
Joshua's friends burst into laughter, mocking Jonathan.
Joshua also laughed, "This is hilarious. It's been a while since I've encountered someone so clueless. Waiter, bring him the menu. I want to see what he'll order!"
"Yes, Mr. Cropper," the waiter quickly brought the menu and handed it to Jonathan. "Go ahead, bumpkin."
The waiter was familiar with Joshua; he was a regular at the hotel.
Jonathan slapped the menu away, "I don't need to look at the menu to order. Make me one of everything on the menu!"
Everything on the menu?
For a moment, everyone was confused, but then it clicked—Jonathan was ordering every dish on the menu.
Andrew and the others were amused, pointing at Jonathan and laughing.
"Hahaha! Is this guy for real? He wants everything on the menu? Does he think he's doing stand-up comedy?"
"Kid, do you even know how much it costs to order everything on the menu? What a big mouth you have!"
"Bumpkins from the countryside really don't know their limits. Do you think you're some kind of rich heir?"
Jonathan paid no attention to their ridicule.
William had already said that all his expenses would be covered by him, so it wasn't even his money. Besides, how much could everything on the menu possibly cost? Back in his village, a meal at a restaurant costs sixty to seventy bucks at most—cooking everything on the menu might cost seven to eight hundred, tops.
And now that he was a millionaire, even if William went back on his word, Jonathan could still afford to pay.
The waiter looked conflicted, unsure if he should pass this order to the kitchen. If they really had to cook everything on the menu, the kitchen would be busy for hours.
"Go ahead, if this bumpkin can't pay, I'll cover it," Joshua told the waiter, then looked at Jonathan, "Kid, it looks like you'll be leaving here on a stretcher."
"Hey, what if I can pay?" Jonathan asked casually, confident that a few hundred bucks were nothing to him, a millionaire.
"If you can pay, I'll let you walk out of the hotel safely," Joshua replied.
"That's too boring. How about we make a bet?" Jonathan proposed.
"What are we betting on?"
"If I can pay, you have to call me 'daddy.'"
"Kid, are you looking for death?" Andrew stepped forward, ready to strike.
Joshua stopped him, "Let him be, Andrew. Just wait and see him call me 'daddy.'"
Luna looked at Jonathan with disdain.
Jonathan, you think just because you've latched onto the Ford family, you can live in luxury? A bumpkin is still a bumpkin, thinking a little money makes you invincible. Joshua is from the Cropper family, a force as strong as the Ford family. Do you really think you can afford to offend him?
At that moment, a man in a suit hurriedly approached them.
Andrew smirked, "Mr Gilbert is here. This is going to be fun. Mr. Cropper, how do you think he'll deal with this bumpkin?"
"I don't care how he deals with him, but that bet is as good as mine," Joshua said arrogantly.
Luna added, "Mr. Cropper, there's no need to lower yourself by making a bumpkin call you 'daddy.' It might tarnish your image."
"He brought this on himself. I heard he embarrassed you and Andrew at the Tatham family event. Consider this my way of getting revenge for you," Joshua replied.
Hearing this, Luna felt much better. Jonathan had humiliated her at the celebration banquet, and now she was eager to witness him calling someone 'daddy' in public.
Meanwhile, Jonathan lounged in his chair, looking nonchalantly at Joshua and his group, sneering inwardly.
You idiots, just wait until you're the ones calling me 'daddy.'
Just then, Lance Gilbert hurried over, "Which gentleman requested everything on the menu?"
"It was this guy, Mr. Gilbert. He's just a bumpkin from the countryside. You should kick him out!" Andrew said.
Lance ignored Andrew and looked at Jonathan, "May I ask your name, sir?"
He had heard that a VIP guest had arrived at the hotel today, and if he didn't take care of them properly, his job could be at risk.
"My name is Jonathan Cornell."
"So you're Mr. Cornell. I apologize for the misunderstanding earlier. The sixth floor has VIP private rooms. Please allow me to escort you there."
Jonathan was momentarily taken aback. VIP? That sounds fancy.
Andrew and the others were also stunned. What was going on?
Joshua stepped forward and asked, "Mr. Gilbert, what's the meaning of this? He can't even pay the bill, so why are you treating him like this?"
"Exactly! He's just a bumpkin from the countryside. Why are you helping him?" Luna was equally baffled.
"Mr. Cornell is one of our hotel's top VIPs. Whatever he requests, we will provide," Lance replied, then turned to Jonathan, "Please wait a moment, Mr. Cornell. I'll have the kitchen start preparing your meal right away."
